Chapter 37
Luara's POV
Within a week I knew I would begin to experience heat. I had already decided that I would be stubborn and force myself to stay away from Bryan no matter how much my body ached and craved for him.
I felt my body go slightly weak when Bryan lightly glazed his finger over his mark on my neck causing my eyes to close shut from instinct.
A low growl rumbled through his chest forcing me from my daze. From the faraway look on his face, I could tell he was communicating with a pack member via mind link.
"Stay here, I'll know if you leave. There's no point trying to escape as there are wolves guarding the whole perimeter of this house." He said before making his way out of the room.
I rolled my eyes at his retreating figure. Of course, he's got pack wolves guarding the house which didn't mean I wouldn't attempt to escape anyway.
Racing towards the closest bedroom window, I pulled on the latch only to find out that it was locked. I huffed in frustration before racing to the next one only to find out it was also locked.
I quickly ran out of Bryan's room and into the nearest closed door. I quietly opened the door and carefully slid in hoping no one was in there. Luckily, no one was and I again attempted to open the windows for it only to be once again locked.
I let out a low growl of annoyance and frustration; Bryan must have known that I would try to escape so he even locked all the spare bedroom windows.
I was furious with myself for not thinking about contacting my parents through our pack mind link but it was impossible now. Bryan’s mark automatically joined me into his pack severing my old one. I knew my parents would already be searching for me, as they would have felt my ties to the pack disappear.
I knew that there was no way that I could escape without exiting from the front door since Bryan had locked all the windows in every bedroom. I needed to be as quiet as possible to be able to succeed in escaping, I had to sneak my way through his house to find the front door and do this without being caught.
Carefully opening the door, I peeked my head out making sure to look both ways down the hallway. Checking to see whether a pack wolf or guard was there, after seeing no one I made my way down the hall, keeping my back against the wall the whole time, I slowly made my way down the stairs.
I stopped instantly when I heard voices. I closed my eyes and focused on the sound, being a werewolf had its upsides especially having strengthened senses such as hearing, sight, smell, and the ability to shift into a massive wolf.
"Bryan, did you sort out that file for me honey? And taste this, what do you think of it? Do I need to add more salt?" A woman asked in a motherly tone of voice from their conversation I could identify that Bryan was in the kitchen.
"I did, it's sitting on my desk in the office. I'll get it delivered to your house tomorrow; I just need to go over a few things. And it tastes fantastic Lopez; you know I love your spaghetti." I could hear the smile in his voice; I could tell that he adored this woman.
A spit of jealousy was felt but disappeared from my instincts informing me that he saw this woman as a mother figure so I quickly dismissed it settling my wolf.
"Thank you, Bryan. You know you'll always be welcome in mine and Luke's home, after all, you're like a second son to me. Your mother was my best friend and I promised to look after you." A rush of love and hurt ran through my body and I knew it was coming from Bryan.
Since he marked me, we could both feel each other's emotions and are able to commutate through a pack mind link as you automatically join your mate's pack the moment you're marked if your mate is an Alpha.
Otherwise, you have to get permission from your mate’s Alpha in order to change packs.
I began to slowly descend the stairs, being careful to not make a sound; knowing that it would notify Bryan of my presence downstairs.
I blocked both my feelings and mind link to Bryan in hopes that he wouldn't be able to tell that I was attempting to escape back to my father's territory.
I wanted to slap myself for not thinking about communicating with my father the moment I trespassed on Dark Apollo's territory, but I was too distracted to think about it at the time.
My wolf continued to whimper and cry about not wanting to leave her mate. She loved him the very first moment she saw him and nothing could cause her to lose that love. She dismissed the stories or the truth about his past.
In her eyes, everything in the past stays in the past as everything changed the moment she laid eyes on him.
My heart squeezed at the thought of leaving my mate but I wasn't ready and he forced a mark upon my skin without permission. I could understand that his wolf took over and he lost control handing it over to his wolf but that didn't mean I could forgive as easily as my wolf could.
She would be more than willing to complete the full mating bond.
The only way to the front door was to pass the kitchen but how could I do that without being caught? I carefully tiptoed my way to the edge of the kitchen door.
The light from the kitchen was making a shadow of my figure against the opposite wall. I leaned my head against the wall trying to figure out how to get past.
I stood there trying to find some lady balls to quietly walk past but it wasn't working. When I finally found them, it all went wrong.
Just as I stepped out, a large hand covered my mouth. I could feel someone's soft breath fanning my neck and I gulped, my breathing becoming deep as I could practically hear my heartbeat racing.
"And what do you think you're doing?" Bryan whispered next to my ear sending a shiver of unwanted delight down my spine.
