Chapter 64
Luara's POV
I woke up feeling dizzy and exhausted even though I purposely went to bed early the night before.
Lately, I've been noticing that I've been feeling this way constantly for the past few weeks and I was beginning to get worried. Not only that but I kept finding myself racing to the bathroom to be sick.
A frightening thought repeatedly kept going through my mind and I was begging for it not to be what I was assuming it to be.
I was avoiding Bryan like the plague worried that he might have noticed a few changes in me.
I sat on the edge of my bed impatiently waiting for Tiannah to arrive since it would look too suspicious if I was to leave the house to go to the store, there would be too many questions.
So many thoughts raced through my mind, and I wondered if this was how my mom felt as she waited for her result when she was the same age as me. I was too young for a baby.
I blocked my feelings and thoughts off from Bryan, I didn't want him to notice how anxious I was as he'd be here in a flash, bombarding me for answers.
I needed Tiannah to hurry up as I also didn't want Bryan to notice that I was doing it because that would also lead to an extensive line of questions.
There was a sudden knock, jolting me out of my thoughts. I raced to the door and let Tiannah come in, quickly pulling her inside and locking the door, not wanting anyone to intrude.
"I got it. Do you honestly think there's a chance you're pre-". Tiannah began but I quickly cut her off, by putting my hand over her mouth.
"Shh, don't talk so loud. You never know who's listening around here." I said, I was beyond the word anxious and nervous about anyone overhearing, I didn't even know if I definitely was pregnant but the idea of it being true had me on edge.
"You'll be fine Luara, Just go take the test." Tiannah whispered, ushering me into the bathroom, test in hand.
I shut the door, throwing the instructions on the floor before taking the test and going back into my room with Tiannah
I handed the test to Tiannah, too frightened to look at the test.
"Do you want me to look?" Tiannah questioned staring at me intently. I nodded, unable to give her a worded answer.
Tiannah looked down at the test and then looked back up at me, she didn't even need to say the words for me to know the answer.
Immediate dread and anxiety flowed through me and all I could do was cry. Tiannah instantly wrapped her arms around me, stroking my back in comfort. But it wasn't comforting that I wanted, I just wanted my space and Tiannah understood.
She left a few minutes later after helping me get into bed, I cradled my blanket in my arms tightly and allowed myself to fall to sleep.
I woke up still feeling the same, I didn't know what to do or what to say. All I knew at this point was that I wanted it to stay between Tiannah and me. I wasn't ready for Bryan to know, I needed to keep it a secret until I decided or even had an idea of what I was going to do.
The best thing to do at this point is to act completely normal with Bryan, for the past month since we came back to the pack after staying at Maxwell's we've been pretty much perfect but my relationship with Bryan always has its ups and downs.
I knew Bryan was holding a meeting in a few days to do with the Stone Warrior's territory, it belonged to Prince Stone. An Alpha that shared the offside territories between Bryan and my father. My mate thought it would be a good idea to hold a meeting since it will affect other territories and Bryan wasn't the type of Alpha to surprise attack you, he made it blatant and clear when the takeover would happen.
He wasn't afraid of anyone, and he always won but it still made me worry, it wasn't a fight that was necessary in my eyes. We didn't need any more land, our territory was one of the biggest.
I decided to stop thinking so much about everything and walked downstairs to find Lopez, the kitchen smelt delicious and I could smell the cookies baking in the oven. "Morning sweetheart."
"Morning Lopez, it smells so good in here!" I replied as I took a sit next to her at the kitchen counter.
"I was bored and decided to make cookies, they should be ready in a few minutes if you would like some?" She said a smile on her face. Lopez was always so friendly and generous.
"Thanks Lopez. Do you know where Bryan is?" I questioned since I couldn't sense Bryan in close proximity to me, and I hadn't heard anything from him.
"He went down to the cells, I overheard the boys talking about a pack member from the Stone Warriors Pack, apparently they found a young wolf watching how our warriors monitor our territory, but of course, Bryan never has the same routine."
I was intrigued by that information, and just as I was about to ask a question. Bryan walked in, interrupting me.
"Where have you been?" I questioned even though I knew.
He lifted his eyebrow at me, a knowing smile ached across his face. "I think Lopez just informed you."
I smirked, "Who is he?" I questioned.
"A tracker from the Stone Warriors Pack, trying to find some information to take back to Prince, but two of our warriors spotted him and took him to the prison." He replied while taking a bottle of water from the fridge.
I nodded my head slowly.
"What are you going to do with him?"
"What I always do to trespassers Luara, I can't have wolves from another pack knowing sensitive information about mine, it not only jeopardizes our land but our pack."
There was no point in arguing with him, it was the wolf thing to do. No Alpha allowed another pack wolf or rogue to leave their land, they either killed them or spared their lives and kept them locked away in their prison.
"Why can't you just leave him in the cells?"
"Keeping him in the cell does nothing for me or him. It's just the way I do things Luara, I'm not risking my pack's lives for his."
I nodded because I understood, this was our pack and I was their Luna. I just didn't want him to do it in the brutal way he always does.
"Just don't make him suffer." I said. I hated the thought that someone I loved could be killed the way Bryan does it. What if my child was put in a situation like this boy is?
Bryan frowned a little but nodded, I quickly hid my emotions before he took any more notice.
"Well I'm going down to the pack house, I need to start training some of the newly turned wolves. You can come to watch if you want?" Bryan asked as picked up one of Lopez’s freshly baked cookies that she just took out of the oven.
I smiled, I didn't mind the idea of staring at my mate work out while he trained with all the other wolves. "When are we going?"
"Now."
It's been a few days since I found out that I was pregnant and I've still not mentioned anything to Bryan. I've been so busy over the past few days that I've just pushed it to the back of my mind.
My dad was due to enter our territory soon and I was so excited to see him but I was nervous at the same time. Two more Alphas had already shown up including Maxwell.
It was going to be a tense day, Bryan wasn't one to go around what he thought or what he was going to do – he was too straightforward.
I was sitting down on the living room sofa when I heard a car coming towards the house. I quickly got up and rushed to the front door to see my dad getting out of his escalade.
I couldn't get my smile to stop grinning from ear to ear. I ran towards my dad and he immediately embraced me in his arms.
I couldn't help but tear up, I could smell my home on him, I missed my family beyond words and I hadn't seen any of them in months. We speak all the time but it wasn't the same as being next to them. My dad squeezed me tighter and kissed my head as we pulled away.
He arrived earlier than he was supposed to so he could hang about with me for a while before everyone arrives and ‘it turns to shit’ in his words but in fact, everyone had already arrived.
"How's my little girl been? Your moms missed you, she wanted to come but couldn't since Sara's been a bit ill lately." My dad said smiling as we sat in the kitchen.
"I've missed you all so much. I'm happy here but I definitely want to come to see you all soon. Bryan and I have been good." I didn't want to say too much as I know my dad's relationship with Bryan is still a bit rocky after everything that happened. I know my dad still isn't happy that Bryan forced his mark on me when I didn't want it.
"I'm glad Luara. Maybe you could come back with me for a few days, that way you can see everyone." I grinned at the idea my dad suggested.
Bryan suddenly came through the kitchen, he noticed me and then looked at my dad. He nodded and then came towards us. My dad stood up and they both shook hands.
"Good to see you Bryan." My dad said civilly.
"And you Torey." Bryan replied.
It went silent for a minute before Bryan spoke.
"Everyone's arrived, they're all in my office if you're ready?"
My dad nodded before staring at Bryan, intending his comment to focus solely on him.
"Let's try not to turn this into a blood bath shall we?", my father replied.
