Chapter 45
Luara's POV
"What's my beautiful mate's name?" Benson asked looking at nothing but Tiannah'e eyes as if there was no one else in the room.
"Tiannah." She whispered, her cheeks turning redder and redder. A chuckle escaped Benson's mouth as he looked adoringly at his mate and placed a lingering kiss on her forehead which Tiannah's eyes softly closed to.
A cough brought them out of their little world; Thompson was standing there smirking at Benson.
"Aw, you look like a love-sick puppy." He teased and he received a low growl in response but it died down when Tiannah rubbed her hands up and down her mate's back smoothing him.
It was my turn to smack Thompson on the back of his head, "Why does everyone do that?" He muttered to himself rubbing the spot. I rolled my eyes and looked at Tiannah and her mate; she gave me a look that asked if she and Benson could hang out.
I nodded in acceptance and looked at Benson with a smile but one which said 'hurt her and you die.' He sent me a small smile and a nod before he allowed Tiannah to pull him out of the room; I looked towards Thompson wondering what we could do before the meeting with my mate.
I decided to eat before making any plans. So I opened the fridge to grab some milk to make some cereal then I grabbed two bowls from the cupboard before sitting down next to Thompson on the kitchen stools.
"Want some?" I asked as I passed him a bowl, he nodded before taking the cereal box from my hand just as I was about to pour my cereal into my bowl. I growled playfully at him which was returned with a smirk.
After I was finally able to pour myself a bowl Thompson began questioning me about my and Bryan's relationship.
"So, you and the Alpha huh?" He asked while chucking more and more spoonfuls of lucky charms in his mouth reminding me of my uncle Elijah.
I nodded, not really sure on what to say.
"What's he like?" He asked suggestively making me nearly choke on my cereal.
"I, we haven't..." I said feeling a blush appear on my cheeks at the thought of Bryan and I mating.
Thompson chuckled, sending me a teasing smirk which made me narrow my eyes at him for purposely trying to embarrass me.
Before he could open his mouth to tease me more or ask another question my mom walked into the room with my little sister Sara who came running full speed at me, jumping onto my lap.
"Look what Kenneth did!" She whined pointing to a small bruise on her arm. I rolled my eyes at the thought of my brothers, it was because of them that I had an argument with my mom and how I managed to trespass onto Dark Apollos territory.
I pulled a playful pout before kissing her bruise which she giggled at. She attempted to wiggle her way off of my lap but ended up smacking her leg into my bruised side causing me to take in a deep breath.
My mom and Thompson both looked at me worriedly, and my mom carefully pulled Sara off of my lap and onto the floor before asking me if I was okay.
"You okay honey? I can get Mike to check up on you if you want?" I shook my head, I didn't need our pack doctor to look at some bruising, and there was nothing he could do about it so there was no point. She sighed before lifting Sara up onto a stool opposite me.
"How is your side? I saw what happened yesterday and it was not pretty." Thompson asked looking at me.
I groaned at the thought of yesterday.
"It hurt like an absolute bitch." I told him with a huff. My mom's mouth gaped at me shocked at my words.
"Don't use such foul words." She scolded me with a flick of her finger which caused Thompson to snicker.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry," I said putting my hands up into a defensive position.
"Well, I better get going if I want to see my mate." I said as I glanced at the clock on the wall flashing 11:35.
"Let's go." Thompson said standing up from his stool, and giving my mother a small nod. It was Thompson's job to follow me wherever I went, he was my guard and protector.
I made my way through the woods with Thompson trailing slightly behind me, just in case something unexpected happened like a rogue trespassed. It took me about 20 minutes in human form to get to the edge of the border where I would meet Bryan.
I sat down underneath a tree that overlooked the border and waited for my mate to show.
Three whole days passed since I last saw Bryan, even though we agreed to meet at the edge of the border every day at twelve.
On Wednesday I waited for hours wondering why he hadn't turned up, in hopes he was running late but by Friday it became clear that he was purposely ignoring me.
I would still turn up every day anyway just in case he changed his mind and on Saturday he finally did.
I was lying down in wolf form with my body laid out with my paws tucked under my chin as I stared into the distance of Bryan's territory when a figure began making its way towards me, my head turned slightly and my eyes narrowed focusing on the figure.
As it got closer and closer I soon realized it was Bryan, which caused my wolf to begin purring at his appearance, and finally able to have him in her presence.
For the past few days, she had decided to ignore me, furious that we left our mate.
I quickly went behind the nearest tree and shifted, changing into a pair of shorts and a crop top before rushing out to see Bryan who was leaning against a tree a few feet away. My body wanted nothing more than to push me towards him but I feared rejection, as a distant look loamed in his eyes.
I was shocked as I saw dark bags underneath his eyes, he had been struggling to sleep.
I bit my lip and leaned my body on my left leg while nervously twiddling my thumbs. I didn't quite know why his presence made me so nervous, what happened to the old Luara? I would usually flat out ask what his problem is but I knew better than to aggravate my mate.
"Why haven't you been meeting me here? Are you...um mad at me?" I asked in a worried tone.
He turned his head to look at me, through his eyes I saw flashes of different emotions running through them but one specifically stood out; hurt.
"My mate purposely left me and you ask if I'm mad?" His voice was calm but I knew better than that. I took a step forward towards him.
"Bryan-" His hand shot out blocking me from coming closer to him causing my heart to ache from his rejection.
"You're acting like such a drama queen." I stated frowning annoyed at his attitude, I kept up my half of the deal by meeting him at the border every day at twelve and he was mad at me.
"I waited for hours for you! And you're annoyed at me?" I pointed to myself.
"I stayed out in the freezing cold even when patrol wolves told me to go home because you weren't going to show, but I stayed hoping that you would!" I shouted, hurt lacing in my voice.
A loud growl rose from Bryan's throat as he said, "You left me, practically rejecting our mate bond. And why the hell would your father not demand you go home? You tell me that all he ever wants to do is protect you but why would he allow you to stay out in the freezing cold?"
"This is not about my father Bryan, this is about you! And he did, he had to literally push me all the way back to the house. I want you as my mate Bryan but you're making it so damn difficult! I will not be mates with someone who is willing to treat my family the way you treat mine!"
My blood was boiling with anger and I had no problem in letting Bryan know.
He took a large step towards me and pulled me by my waist to his body. His chest was rising and falling at a fast pace as he took deep breaths to calm himself.
My comment about not being willing to have him as a mate infuriated him and he pulled me closer.
"What did I tell you Luara? My mate will never leave me and I meant it. You've had far more than enough time to see your family and say goodbye. And now your time is up."
