Chapter 61
Luara's POV
I had been ignoring Bryan, I didn't know what to say. The first day he tried talking to me calmly, trying to persuade me but with each try, I continued to ignore him.
So as the next day came around, his anger started to show, he was getting more and more aggravated and frustrated with each day that passed.
If he entered the room I was in, I'd leave. If he came into our bedroom just before I was going to sleep, I'd walk into the spare room opposite making sure to lock the door.
Not that it stopped Bryan from knocking it down but after having done it four days in a row, he had gotten the point that he wasn't changing anything or helping himself.
Bryan needed to realize that he needed to run his pack, not his father.
Although his father is dead, Bryan still continues to use his father's diabolical practices. Bryan tried so hard to protect his mother from his father, he had fought his father for dominance and won but to his fault, he continues to allow his father to control him, and he doesn't even realize it.
Waking up this morning, I groaned. My neck was feeling sore and ached from the uncomfortable position I must have slept in.
Quickly showering and changing into some loose clothing because I wasn't feeling up to doing anything for the day, I headed for the kitchen.
There were loud voices echoing from the kitchen as I descended the stairs. I could tell that there were at least five people but I couldn't tell who they were.
I attempted to keep as quiet as possible as I walked towards the kitchen, I didn't want anyone to notice I was there since I didn't recognize any of the voices apart from Bryan's.
"Make sure to inform Andrew of my absence, I should be back in three days." Bryan's voice sounded.
I frowned, confused and intrigued. He hadn't informed me that he was going away.
"Should I also inform the Luna?" Someone questioned.
"No, she's asleep. I'll contact her later," Bryan answered,
"Make sure she's always guarded wherever she wishes to go but keep her within the territory."
I was feeling indecisive, in an annoying predicament on whether or not to go into the kitchen and find out where Bryan was going or whether to go back upstairs and pretend to be asleep to avoid him.
My curiosity overruled my thinking as I found myself entering the kitchen where six wolves including Bryan occupied.
All eyes immediately caught mine, making me wish that I had just gone back upstairs.
"Luara," Bryan said, slightly hesitant since I haven't spoken to him for a week.
"Where are you going?" I said, getting straight to the point.
He stared at me for a few moments, seeming to decide whether or not he wanted to tell me.
"I'll be gone for three days." That was all he said, clearly deciding to go with the latter.
"Oh really, where you going?" I continued, pushing further.
"I'll be back by Thursday."
I narrowed my eyes at him as I stepped a little closer to him.
All eyes were staring at Bryan and me as we began our own staring competition, neither one of us willing to bow down.
We had seemingly forgotten about everyone else in the room.
"Are you visiting another pack?" I asked, changing my words slightly trying to get some information out of him.
Bryan stared at me and sighed, "I need to leave now.".
I didn't like how he wasn't answering my questions, all he was doing was ending our conversation and it only made me feel suspicious.
The tension in the room was multiplying with each second that passed.
I watched as he picked up a set of keys from the kitchen counter handing them to one of the guys. Bryan must have mind linked them to leave as they all quickly dispersed leaving Bryan and me alone.
Neither one of us said anything as he began to walk toward me. He stopped just before he got to me, he placed a simple kiss on my forehead and left, the muscles in his back constricted underneath his shirt as he walked away.
I followed behind him, he walked through the front door and down the stairs and headed towards a car that was waiting for him. Just before he got in, I jumped in the back.
I didn't even have any shoes on, only some fluffy socks I threw on this morning but I didn't care.
"Luara," Bryan called my name, his voice tight.
"What are you doing?" Bryan said with his voice low, his eyebrows crunched together.
"Coming with you, what else would I be doing?" I said sweetly, purposely coming across as sarcastic.
"You're not coming." He said, rolling his eyes.
"Yes Bryan, I'm coming with you." I replied to his irritated yes.
"Luara, you're not coming with me. I've told you already, I'll be back in three days." He was standing just outside of the car, holding onto the car door slightly too tight, as his handprint seemed to be molding into the steel door frame.
I stayed there, sitting still.
"You know Bryan, for someone who hasn't spoken to their mate in a week you sure know how to act when you finally get to speak to them."
I heard him sigh, which was surprising as his angry expression began to fade away. Bryan brushed his hand through his hair before focusing his attention on me.
"I'm not trying to argue with you Luara, especially since we haven't spoken in a week. I just have important meetings and other events which need my attention."
"I want to come with you." I replied as I grabbed the belt buckle and got myself comfortable in the car. I could feel Bryan stare at the side of my face.
"Fine, but we haven't got time to grab your clothes, I'll have to buy you some when we're there."
He shut the passenger door and got into the driver's seat. Bryan quickly started the engine and sped down the gravel road, and through the woods to get to the edge of the territory.
We had been driving for about 7 hours and had stopped at least three times for rest breaks and food.
Bryan and I spoke a little, but I was asleep for the majority of the journey. I was sipping on my McDonald's coke when I noticed we were pulling into a restricted area.
Bryan's voice sounded through the car, as he put his phone to his ear.
"Hello, we're outside the gate." Bryan announced through the phone.
I couldn't quite hear what the person on the phone was saying, as all I could hear was a male's muffled voice. Bryan said a few more words and then the gate opened. We began to slowly drive up the pathway, the road was bumpy making us all sway as the car drove along.
I stared out of the window, intrigued by the woods, and where we were going.
I noticed wolves hiding, their eyes curiously watching. While others followed along the side of our cars running and leading us towards our destination.
We continued down the path for at least 25 minutes before we came to a stop. Everyone began to open their car doors, so I followed. Once the door opened, I stepped out only to find my feet hurt underneath the stoney path as the rocks dug into my socks.
I slowly walked around to the other side of the car, and that's when I finally noticed the large house, which I assumed was a pack house due to its enormous size. It looked beautiful, it was sheer white in color, gorgeous naturally lit, with vines draped down the side, and red roses protruding through the cracks.
My feet were hurting and felt as if they were pulsing from the pain but I managed to walk over to where Bryan was standing.
He frowned when he looked down at me, noticing the pain in my eyes as he scooped me up into his arms. I didn't resist, my feet were in too much pain and I sightly enjoyed the closeness we shared since we haven't touched in over a week.
The sound of a loud creek of a door opening caught our attention.
"Who is that?" I whispered to Bryan as an older man with grey hair approached us, a bright smile plastered on his face.
"My Grandfather." Bryan answered his eyes never swaying from the man a few feet away.
A deep frown immediately appeared on my face, confused by his words. Bryan had no family left, so who was this man?
