Chapter 245
Davyna's POV
A few of our co-workers from the club, some of the other people that live here but I haven't really met, and then I see Vincent and Caleb near the back of the living area. I smile at them slightly as I make my way towards them.
"You came." Caleb states as I come and stand near him and Vincent.
"Yes, I did." I feel a bit more at ease, but I decide not to tell them about. Asher and his little creepy stunt back out in the hallway. I carry on a few conversations with Vincent, Caleb and Marcella, and then Marcella heads into her kitchen and comes out with a bottle. I scoff slightly.
"Marcella, that better not be for some stupid kissing game." She laughs at me and shakes her head
"No. Truth or Dare." I roll my eyes. This is not what I wanted to do tonight. I sigh as I make my way over and sit beside two girls, only of which I can assume are twin sisters, considering they look exactly alike aside from their clothes. The one closest to me is in ripped jeans and a tank top, while her sister is in leggings and a t-shirt. Both of them have icy blonde hair that falls past their shoulders. Caleb sits on my other side with Vincent beside him. As Marcella places the bottle in the center of our little circle, one of the sisters turns to me.
"You're Davyna, right?" I nod. She holds out her hand and I shake it.
"I'm her twin sister, Susannah Hart." The other sister waves at me and says
"Hello."
"Hi, nice to meet you."
"Likewise. How are you finding it here?" Susannah asks.
"It's been okay, I've been made to feel really welcomed." I see Caleb smile out of the corner of my eye.
"We heard what happened to Councilman Blackmoon- your dad, is he
doing okay?" Emmeline asks with a sad expression on her face.
"He's stable, just allowing his injury to heal."
"That's good. So sorry that he got hurt. I chatted with him a few times, he seemed genuinely kind. We hope he gets better soon." I smile at them both.
"Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. It means a lot." They nod
at me in acknowledgment.
"What do you both do here? If you don't mind me asking, thatis."
They both smile at me and Susannah responds,
"We're vampire fighters. We help protect everyone here, and sometimes are sent outside of the compound to fight, if needed. We train new recruits for the teams."
"Oh wow, that's really exciting. I've been doing training with these two I point at Caleb and Vincent - some days, but it's hard to keep up with them." I hear Caleb chuckle and the sisters do too.
"I'll If you want, we can help out too, it never hurts to be able to defend yourself." Emmeline states and I nod.
"That would be great. Thank you.!'
"Sure." I say as I take it and quickly put my number in her contacts. We're about to continue talking when Marcella interrupts.
"Game is Truth or Dare. Choose either truth or dare, then spin the bottle. Whoever it lands on will be the person to decide your fate. Who's up first?"
God this is lame. But I'm shocked as I see Vincent grab the bottle first.
"Truth." he says and he spins it. l anxiously watch as it spins and spins, and then lands on Emmeline.
Emmeline takes a moment to think, and then asks him.
"Found your mate yet, brethren?" T keep my composure thankfully, but of course that had to be the first question asked.
"Yes." I'm gob smacked as I hear him reply. I thought we were keeping it a secret until tomorrow? I see Emmeline smile widely, and glances at me. Oh god. Does she know? I still manage to not react, but it takes a lot of effort on my part
A few others take turns and then it's my turn. Sighing, I place my hand on the bottle. Might as well make it interesting. "Dare." I spin it and it lands on Caleb. Whew. I'm relieved, but then I see him grinning at me and all that goes out the window. Oh no.
I plead with my eyes while he "pretends" to think of a dare.
My stomach just knots up as I wait for him to speak.
"I dare you to kiss someone Davyna."
"Who?" I ask nervously. What did I get myself into? I should have picked truth, but hey at least its not like I haven't kissed him before, but not in front of a ton of people
"Me." He states and I feel a blush rising to my cheeks. Of course he would say himself. Everyone cheers loudly and they chant,
"Do it! Do it!"
I look at Caleb and turn to face him. God I feel like l'm in elementary school all over again.
"Scared of the big bad wolf?" He teases as everyone snickers. I pause for a moment and then reply,
"Not a chance." I lean towards him as he grips my chin and pulls me closer, and our lips meet. He kisses me in the softest way that he ever has and I melt into it. It's a brief sweet kiss, and I pull away as everyone yells loudly in celebration. I blush and face the bottle again, smiling sheepishly. I can't believe I kissed him in front of everyone!
I know why he did though. Pretty soon everyone here as well as the
entire compound will know that I'm his and Vincent's mate. Might as to other and showing affection, keep playing for a couple hours and it's my last turn before we plan to stop the game.
"Truth." I say and I spin. It lands on one of the people I haven't met before
"Do you think that you truly belong here, human?" Everyone goes eerily quiet. I clear my throat as Vincent talks as he shoots a mean look at the person who asked.
"You don't have to answer that, Davyna. It's unnecessary." He emphasizes the last word.
"No, it's okay. It was bound to come up." I look at the person who asked the question, and I don't break eye contact.
"I feel like I belong, just as much as anyone else here. I might be human, but I'm definitely not some damsel in distress. Just go ask Maria in the dungeons" I see Caleb smirk. Everyone in the compound had heard how I had taken
Maria on and beat her, although no one really knows how I managed to, thanks to Caleb and Vincent being the only ones who witnessed it.
They've controlled the narrative of that day so that no one suspects anything. Marcella quickly takes the bottle away and starts some music, as we all mingle for the rest of the evening, question long forgotten.
