Chapter 19
Torey’s POV
I was running the pack border; it was a routine of mine on a Friday evening. My muscles were tense over the conversation Eva and I had this morning. Olie abruptly turning up in my office had caught me off guard.
I haven't seen nor spoken to her for two years, and when I finally ended the casual relationship we had, she was enraged. Completely discontented, she was obsessed with the thought of being with an Alpha, of being an Alpha female.
She was infatuated with the prospect.
My paws thundered against the forest floor as I raced through the clearing, my heightened senses, inhuman strength, and incredible smell had my wolf running in the west direction of my territory.
My wolf growled furiously in my mind, a surge of dominance that came with being an Alpha. We sensed that rogues had crossed our borders without authorization, and he wanted blood.
Sensing I was close, I slowed my pace down, scanning the whole vicinity. I had already mind-linked Sam and two of the patrol wolves of my location, they had been on the opposite side of the territory.
The sound of a stick breaking in half caught my attention. My head darted in the direction of the noise, noticing the presence of five unfamiliar wolves who emerged from behind the trees.
Two began to approach, their jaws snapping at me as I watched them cautiously, watching their every move.
I snarled at them, barring my teeth in warning to leave my territory.
One of the rogues shifted back to his human form, tugging on the shorts that he had tied around his ankle. He was tall in stature with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was young, his facial features not at full maturity, roughly around seventeen years old.
"Alpha Torey seems as if you're alone with no one here to back you." He smirked causing me to chuckle, his tone was sarcastic and deep and his attempt to make me feel threatened was futile.
There was nothing about this situation that made me concerned, they were all newly shifted and it was obvious. Alpha blood runs through my veins, I didn't need backup to fight five wolves.
I narrowed my eyes, focusing on him while carefully watching the other's movements. They were here for a reason which was why he had shifted, he wouldn't have done so if not, not wanting to expose or put himself into a vulnerable position.
Rogues weren't loyal creatures, they would run away, leaving their so-called 'pack mates' to defend themselves if something took a turn for the worst.
"There's a rumor going around that you've found your mate and a daughter that you never knew of." The young wolf mused, his smirk extending. The wolves behind him sent me a glint of amusement, one I didn't appreciate.
Within a second three of my pack wolves arrived, trailing behind me including Sam. Then two more from my pack arrived and shifted into their human forms, my Beta must have notified them of the intrusion.
Jake handed me some shorts, I shifted and threw them on quickly. My facial expression contorted into a fierce glare as I watched the young wolf who had taken the lead, and who had spoken up.
My fists balled into a tight clench, my breathing turning heavy as I kept my control, forcing my wolf to stay at bay. He wasn't impressed with the rogues who blatantly disrespected me and my pack.
"You want to tell me the real reason why you entered my territory without permission?"
He mused for a moment then unexpectedly shifted back into his wolf, lunging straight toward me while I was still in human form. I dodged him, maneuvering to the side as I surrendered myself to my wolf, allowing him to take complete control, shifting into my wolf who was double the size of him.
I wanted to laugh at how quickly my wolf and my pack had taken control of them; it wasn't twenty minutes later that we had dragged them down to the pack prison cells.
Two warriors were standing guard, bowing their heads at me in respect as they opened the secure steel doors, before entering the password. I walked down the stairs, going underground to where our prison was situated, the smell of dried blood and rotten flesh tickling my nose.
Once down there, I approached the second heavy ironed door and moved my hand to the keypad in the wall, my finger pressing down on the numbers, the barred door sliding open.
Walking down the dark corridor, the floor wide as cells were aligned, one next to the other. A few of the cells were full, rogues and unruly wolves filling them up. The sounds of their breathing noted as the noise of someone grunting in pain in one of the interrogation rooms caught my attention.
My head warrior was in there with a wolf who had been sharing our secrets with another pack, it was his job to extract information from the prisoner, just like I was about to with these rogues.
We had unarmed them using silver chains, forcing their wolves to be dormant, unable to shift leaving them human. They attempted to fight but it was useless, they just allowed us to drag them once we reached the prison.
As soon as we walked into the room, I shoved the rogue into the chair, pushing him roughly into it causing his body to hunch over, he was still in pain from the claw mark that I had caused on his stomach. He grunted at the movement and breathed heavily when Sam pulled him up by his hair.
"What's your name?" I asked, my Alpha tone seeping through. He was young and I was intrigued with why he was here, and who had sent a newly shifted wolf to approach me on my territory.
He wasn't as brave as he pretended to be earlier.
"Clint." He replied hesitantly.
I just nodded at him, interested by his shift of behavior. He was young and clearly impressionable; it might be easier to have a conversation with him rather than an interrogation.
"You want to tell me why you trespassed on my territory?" I questioned, watching his expression change as he looked down, his head shaking no.
"I'm- not telling you anything." He choked out, his voice low as a whisper.
"Clint, this is going to end in one of two ways. One, I'll think about letting you go and two, you'll find yourself in a 6ft deep hole in the ground. So, answer me before I chose the latter." I snarled, stepping closer to him.
My stance intimated him, he cowered at my tone.
"Now." I gritted out as he continued his silence.
"I-I" He stuttered, sounding pathetic. His words were tumbling out, feeling under pressure from my narrowed stare.
"My-my leader, he wants to kidnap your mate and…" Clint whispered, obviously worried about my reaction.
Pissed, I rushed forward. My hands gripped his neck tightly, choking him. A choked cough left his mouth as his eyes bulged slightly. A dark growl left my throat as I let go, knowing that he would die if I didn't.
I needed more information from him.
The rogue began coughing and breathing deeply, trying to catch his breath. His lungs had been deprived of oxygen after several long, excruciating minutes of pressure.
I interrogated Clint for hours and he provided me with all the details that I needed. I wasn't surprised when he exposed the rogue Alpha Mason as the culprit. He was in search of revenge for his lost Luna. Taking his frustrations out of any wolf pack he could.
I ended up leaving Clint and the other rogues in the cells, he was useful for now. I hadn't decided what I was going to do with him so for now, he would reside there.
The walk home was quiet, only a few pack wolves were about, all nodding their heads at me in respect as they passed.
I thought about Eva, wondering whether she would be awake or not. She and Luara had been spending more time with me lately. Eva was slowly starting to trust me more and the sexual tension between us had been growing.
I had been struggling to hold my wolf back and hers was showing the same.
"Oh, you're back?" Eva smiled, looking up from the couch as I walked into the room. She sat up, moving her body so her knees were leaning on the couch as she watched me walk towards her
I stood above her, looking down at her as a smile appeared across hers. My facial expression mirrored hers which made a small blush enter her cheeks.
Instantly my hands moved to cup her cheek and we stayed in that position for a few moments, the tension in the room filling up. My eyes found her lips, my attention on her tongue as she slid it along her bottom lip.
Eva's POV
I felt nervous once Torey arrived home, his presence had me on edge but in a different way. My wolf had been calling out to his all day, their want and needs becoming our own.
I had been pushing her down for weeks, much longer than I thought I could. A mate connection was like no other, and we had both pushed ours down, our natural instincts now pushing back. Our wolves were begging to be marked and mated, wanting to secure our relationship as one.
He looked down at me with hungry eyes, his eyes following my every move as I licked my lips in nervousness. He leaned down and instead of kissing me like I thought he was going to, he grabbed me by my waist and holstered me up. His hands cupped my ass as I let out a shocked gasp.
The room was filled with sexual tension, the gasp that left my mouth had Torey's eyes turning a dark shade of black. Both our wolves pushing at the surface, desperate to feel one another's lips.
I tilted my head to the side and Torey began to leave slow tortuous kisses down my jaw to my neck where his mark would eventually lay. I drew in a shaky breath as his canines lengthened and grazed the area.
"I want to kiss you." He whispered against my skin, his eyes then scanning mine for permission. I could only nod in reply, unable to speak a word as his lips moved onto mine, taking the opportunity to trace his tongue against mine.
I moaned into the kiss and trailed my hands up his chest and into his hair tugging lightly causing a low groan to escape his mouth.
Kissing my mate sent electricity pulsing through my veins, an overwhelming fluttering pain making it difficult to breathe, the pleasure of touching and holding your mate, making your heart skip a beat.
The sound of a door creaking open had us pulled apart and we stood feet away from each other, both breathing deeply as Luara's voice sounded through the room. Along with an expatriated groan that left Torey's lips as I grinned and walked Luara back to bed.
Leaving him standing there, utterly frustrated.
