TRUST IS A DEADLY VIRTUE IN TIME OF WAR
A failure always has an excuse.
As early as the first cock crow, the legion of dooms, along with Brenda and her gang left the warring zone, but their movements were delayed by the zombies who walked at the rear of the whole column.
"We are moving like a snail and won't reach our destination in time," Bobby grumbled at the zombies who lagged.
"We have no choice, we are few in numbers and can be ambushed anytime," Brenda answered back.
"I feel odds about those zombies and nearly kill one yesterday night!" Maria let out.
"Look out!" Brenda cried out.
A small spaceship was seen hovering in the sky, then landed some meters far off.
The whole column halted instantly at the sight of the spaceship, and at two hoorays who hopped out of it.
"We are from the royal court and seek Horus." One of the Hooray let out.
Horus galloped from his position and halted beside Brenda, then glared with a frown.
"Why are they seeking you?" Apollon777 asked with a glow.
"I have no idea," Horus answered back and cried out at the Hoorays who stood close to their spaceship. "Why did you seek for my presence?"
"You are the sole witness against Geisha's war crime and you are ordered to appear before the senate now!"
"We are here to take you home."
"Where is your badge?" Horus asked back.
"Come close and take a look, we are just two, and won't seize you in the presence of all your friends." One among the Hooray answered back.
Horus galloped close to the Hoorays, and he was followed by Brenda, Bobby, Apollon777, Maria, and the twins.
"The emperor's seal has not been broken, please read it." The speaking Hooray announced, then hand over the brown sealed parchment.
Horus unsealed and read the letters written in strange languages. "It's authentic, I need to go now!"
"What!" Brenda exclaimed with a shock. "You are our only hope of unleashing the scepter!"
"I will be back," Horus dipped his hand inside a pouch attached to his armor, and brought out a small and wrinkled parchment, the one given to him by Zuri. "Take this and my gadget. If I am not back by the time you reached the destination, then call me and I will tell you how to get it done."
"What if you did not come back, and you refused to pick up your call?" Apollon777 inquired.
"Trust me, I will talk all I knew of the few humans that I had to deal with, and also persuade our senators to call off the invasions on earth, and maybe you won't need the scepter after all.
"Trust is a deadly virtue in time of war!" Apollon777 exclaimed, then walked back to meet the rest of the awaiting column.
"Did you trust me?" Horus stared at Brenda.
"Yes," she replied. "As absurd as it may sound, I believe you won't forsake us."
"Thank you, I won't disappoint you."
The boss galloped in front of thousand men, and they soon emerged at the spot where the conflict between the jihadists and Brenda's column had occurred.
His men, at the sight of the horrific sight awaiting them shivered and clenched to each other in fear.
"Go bring those horses and some of you should climb it." The boss announced, then smirked at the cowardness of men at his back, and yelled at a man shivering like a leaf on a body of water. "Keep trembling and I will kill you now!"
"We have gathered almost five hundred horses and lots of jewels, please let us go back." One among the men on horse pleaded.
"I'm not only out for horses and wealth, but to punish those fools who think they can insult me and go free. No! I will soon show them why they called me the big boss." The man cried back.
In a few minutes, the column resume their journey, walked for more hours, then emerged at the place where the conflicts between the legion of dooms and the aliens had taken place, and a greater horrific sight await them.
This time around, great awe fell on the whole column and almost all the men trembled with shocks at the various disembarked body parts that welcome them.
"Please, let's go back." Half of the men pleaded with shivering voices."
"You are all cowards!" The boss glared back at his men, then threatened them more. "One more word and your heads will be ripped off your necks!"
The men, left with no choice, followed their boss, and they soon disappeared into the darkness that usually descended at nightfall.
"We will be camping here tonight!" The boss announced, instructed his men to erect a tent, then went inside to relax for the day. "I will be catching up with you tomorrow."
A new general was posted to the western region to replace Geisha, and the newly posted Hooray was instructed to await the decisions of the senators before embarking on the pursuit of the scepter.
As for Horus and Geisha, they both meet in the presence of the twelve senators and a trial started immediately.
"There is a complaint of war crime and genocide during the ongoing invasion, what did you have to say in your defense?" One among the senators asked Geisha, who stood in a cupid with a dejected gaze.
"All the accusations were baseless and there is no proof of it."
"Did you ever use the banned weapon against humans or your fellow Hoorays?" Another senator asked.
"It was never fired and I have no idea how such rumors came to be."
"What about your failure to destroy the scepter, and the outrageous numbers of warriors lost during this failed mission?" The first senator asked.
"My mission was sabotaged by the Hooray standing over there," Geisha answered back, then grinned as all the senators glared at Horus. "He should be punished for supporting humans against his clan!"
The senators peeked at Horus, and the anger on their faces is so hot and can melt butter.
"You claimed your commander is guilty of war crime and genocide, did you have any proof of this?"
"Yes," Horus replied instantly, causing a murmuring among the twelve senators.
"What about his claim of sabotaging his effort to get the scepter destroyed," another senator asked.
"A failure always has an excuse!"
"What about your prove, can we have a look?"
Horus dipped his hand inside his pouch, brought out a gadget that looked like a camera, bowed at the twelve senators, and announced. "I want you all to see with your eyes!"
When the twelve senators watched Geisha's crime, a great silence fell on the whole arena for what seemed like an eternity.
"What else did you have to say to defend yourself?" The first senator asked.
"I have fought to defend my clan and always available for the crown, even at the expense of my life. Whatever he claimed I did, I did it for the crown and have no regrets."
"This seating will resume tomorrow, and we shall inform the king of today's seating, both the witness and the accused should remain in the royal safe house until we convened again"
The senators all stood from their seats after their leader's speeches and marched out of the large auditorium.
