A MOUNTAIN WITH A HUMAN'S FACE

Brenda and the column with her proceeded with their journey, after a night of sleep.
They soon emerged inside Zuba town, followed another shortcut, and appeared at the back of Zuma rock.
A few kilometers away, the big mountain with a human's face loomed over them, and the whole column stood in awe at the magnificent sight before them.
"A mountain with a human face!" Some of the men at her back exclaimed aloud.
"Yes, there is a myth surrounding the mountain and the face on it." The general beside Brenda galloped to her side and let out.
"We have time to hear, as we await Horus's arrival." The lady on the horse answered back. Hopped down and walked into the shade of a big tree beside the road.
"As you can see the natural contours in the surface of the rock, which depicts, nose, mouth, and eyes. Zuma rock was believed to be one of the numerous mountains that were believed it was humans that turned into them."
"Someone turned into this mountain?" Brenda asked with an unbelievable gaze.
"Yes, it happened a long time ago."
A princess fell in love with a young commoner, but her parent want to give out her hand in marriage to the king of the land.
The lady cried, pleaded, and beseeched her parents to change their minds and allowed her to get married to the man she desire, but her parents scorned her pleading.
"Get ready, you will be getting married to the king in a moon's time." The lady's father let out, then stormed out of the sight of her dejected daughter.
The lady tried to elope with her lover, but the king got a hint of their plan, he get the man arrested and put him to death.
When the poor lady heard of her lover's death, she sneaked out of her fatherland, entered the forest, and cried for many days.
One day, the guiding spirit of the forest was strolling in his territory, when he saw the crying lady, went closer to her, and gaze at her bewitching beauty.
"Who are you, and why are you here?" The soothing voice of the guidance spirit echoed in the silent forest.
"My name is Fortuna, and am a sad lady who seeks death." The crying lady answered back.
"Why did you seek death, beautiful Fortuna?"
"Because humans murdered my lover, and now want to marry me by force."
The guidance spirit took pity on the poor lady, went closer, clean her ears, and promised to protect her henceforth.
The King raised a large searching party, and they all curbed the forest in search of her.
A few days later, the lady was found sitting under a big mahogany tree, plumpy, and more beautiful than before.
Stunned at how a lady could live inside this forest for days, they quickly circled her and were about to capture her, when the lady cried to the guiding spirit to rather turn her into a mountain, so she can always be closer to him than to allow her abductors to take her away.
"Make me a stone, and let me grow in your presence," Fortuna begged as the men dragged her away.
The guidance spirit, moved by his new friend's tears, and not in the position to attack the men because he is a protecting spirit, so he decided to accept the lady's desire, pointed his magical wand towards her, and frown as she turned into a big mountain.
"Interesting!" Brenda exclaimed after the beautiful myth that explained the face figure with tears, on the mountain.
"Apart from this myth, there are other myths and facts that show the mountain is different from any other mountain in the world." The general said.
"Please tell us more." The men around the general begged back. Captivated by the fluent storyteller and the beautiful story, they all salivate for more.
"The native of the communities believe the face on the mountain represents the deity and ancestral power that guides and supervises the affairs of the community. They also believe is a gateway to the afterlife, when people die, their spirit goes into the mountain to await reincarnation."
"That was an amazing belief!" Bobby exclaimed.
"Yes," the general answered back.
Sooner later, the bright day suddenly turned darker, and the shining sun quickly hide under the dominating clouds, as waters from heaven plummeted downward, and wet all those who stand under the sky.
When the men gazed at the peak of the mountain, they all looked stunned at the fire that seemed to be engulfing the whole area.
"Native attest this happening to the miracles of the voodoo spells casters and deities, but in truth, it wasn't," the general explained, paused to catch his breath, and resumed his speech. "When a part of the rock got broken, slides and hit the body of the rock as it plummeted downward, it will cause friction, because of the water on its body, and started emitting heat, or fire in most cases."
Yaris and his Hooray delayed their attack, because of the sudden rainfall. The whole column waited under the shades of some buildings along the way, then gazed at their opponent far off as they marched in the rain.
"Will we be attacking, as soon as the rain subsides?" Yaris announced to his warriors.
How Yaris wish this rain didn't fall at all, unfortunately not all wishes come to pass.
"This rain is a bad omen," Yaris muttered silently.
"Why should there be rain, whenever he needs dried land?"
On Hooray's planet, the rain was never heard, seen, or felt. So the invaders are still getting used to their new environment, yet not to the presence of water, which most are just seeing in larger quantities for the first time.
And this was the reason why they still dread the sight of water from the atmosphere.
In truth, we fear what we don't understand.
The rain lasted for several hours, then stopped suddenly as it started.
"Should we attack now?" Some among the passionate Hooray asked.
"Not yet, let the ground dry for a while. We may need to hop after them if they decided to retreat." Yaris answered back.
The aliens waited patiently for the shy sun to resume its work, but the cloud refuse to clear, and another shower of rain soon fell down the sky.
"If the rain did not stop in a few hours, then we will be attacking them." Yaris announced to his warriors, then muttered softly to himself, "damn you, gods and goddesses, for playing pranks with me!"
"Did you say something, sir?" One among the closer Hoorays asked.
"Why is there rain, whenever we are about to start something important, or in the middle of it?"
"Coincidence." The Hooray answered back.
"Perhaps it is, or more than a mere coincidence." Yaris let out and looked sadly at the puddles of water that is now turning into erosion.
"Are we still attacking them with our weapon of death, or accepting Horus's challenge ?"
"They are not up to a thousand, and meager before our size. Why should we fear his challenge?"
"Beautiful, so we are attacking without our weapon?" The Hooray asked back.
"Yes, keep our weapon of death and attack only with our blade. I will let you know if there is a change of plan."
"Aye," the Hooray bow to his commander, and quickly hopped to announce to his comrade.
Yaris prayed he is not making another mistake and wished he had embarked on his former plan of attack. Yet he knew he had no choice.
Horus had challenged him in the presence of his warriors, and lots of humans.
Not to accept being challenged is a show of fear and defeat.
