A WEEK OF NO MORSEL

"Let's wait at the next border for Zuri," Maria announced, and the galloping team soon intermixed with the crowd at the Niger state border.
"Where are they teeming to?" Bobby asked with a puzzled look.
"To the next state, in search of safety," Maria replied.
"As long as we aliens were here, no place will be safe for humans." Apollon777 let out.
"Hey!" Brenda called out to three men dressed as clowns and performing for all the passersby in return for food, cigarette, and booze.
One among them with a donkey head gaped at Brenda then replied. "What are you giving us, miss?"
"A week since we tasted a morsel." Another man with a cat head added.
"Yes," the third of the clown with a lion head cried out. "A week of no morsel is worse than death."
"Why is everybody stranded over here?" Bobby asked.
"Something for us, then any question will be welcome." The clown with the donkey head answered back. Raised his two arms and danced hysterically for a while.
"An empty stomach is an empty brain." The clown with the cat head added, then imitate his dancing comrade.
"None of the parts of the body can act when the stomach is empty." The third clown with the lion head added, then joined his two comrades in dancing.
"Clowns!" Brenda exclaimed.
"That's their name," Bobby replied.
He dipped his hand inside the bag hung over his shoulder and brought out three assorted biscuits, then throw them at the dancing clowns.
The men instantly scrambled at the biscuits and chewed hungrily for some moment.
"The border is blocked and no one is allowed to pass." The man with the donkey head said after drinking a sachet of water.
"Which gang is in control?" Bobby asked.
"They were called the Jihadis and have close all the borders in and out of the state." The clown with the cat head replied.
"We need to enter into the town." Brenda let out.
"Any other way in?" Maria asked.
"Yes." The man dressed as a clown, with a lion head replied. "There is a route that emerged inside the state, and we will take you through if you can pay us."
"With more food." The clown with the donkey head announced.
"And booze and cigarettes." The last of the clown proclaimed.
"I suggest we wait for Zuri here till tomorrow morning." Brenda let out.
"And if he is not here by then?" Apollon777 asked.
"Then we move," Brenda replied, then informed the three clowns of their decision. "We are waiting for some of our comrades, and will set out as soon as they arrive."
"Those that means you agreed to all our demands?" The man with the lion's head asked back.
"Yes," Bobby replied, then tossed a bottle of whisky at them.
He grinned as the men scurried after the clown with the lion's head who by now had removed the cock, then gulped down the content and drank the lion's share.
"Let's find somewhere to rest while we await them," Maria suggested, looked at Apollon777 beside her, and grinned.
"Not tonight!" Apollon777 screamed inside.
The twins appeared inside the shrine and their first appearance can be likened to two blazing eerie images of fire and gradually transformed into two ladies.
"How dare we keep failing," Akira screamed out.
"Against weak humans and filthy aliens." Kira let out.
The twins circled the drawn symbol of Horus on the ground and screamed out in a semi-conscious voice.
"Death and dangers knocking from the two humans that refused to die along with the rest." The twin cried out in prophecy.
"The man's dagger pierced my heart," Akira screamed in agony.
"And... And I died by the lady's blade." Kira stammered back in tears.
"What should be done?" Akira screamed out.
"Death... Death... Only death of the two of them, or the two of us." Kira replied.
The twins, when done with their prophecy instantly popped up, then glared at each other.
The prophecy had been proclaimed, that Augur and Dija must be killed as it was only their blade that can penetrate the heart of the two powerful goddesses.
"I will go after our two threats, while you go after the scepter." Kira let out.
"Yes." Akira agreed. " Both are urgent matters that required instant attention."
The twins held each other's hand and sauntered out of the shrine to the bewilderment of the night crawlers who gape at their illuminating bodies, then shared the news with the less fortunate ones that don't have the privileged of such a magnifying sight.
When the twins awoke the following morning to choose two hundred men that will follow them out, the two towns were deserted except for a few aged men who gaped at the twins from their windows.
"Damn cowards," Akira screamed out.
"You are useless and only serve as the sacrificial lambs," Kira added in outrage.
"We shall make our immortal warriors," Akira announced to the listening aged men and women who gaped and drooled at them.
Two young teens marched towards the twins.
"Since you have no more fighters, will you now draft us as your fighter?" One among them asked.
"Thanks but no thanks," Akira replied.
"We will go alone," Kira announced.
The two boys turned with dissatisfaction and one murmured silently among them.
"Damn witches sacrificing their subjects for power."
"What did you just say?" Akira cried out with shock at the speaker's effrontery.
"Are we so treated with contempt, even kids that can't wipe their anus now scorned at us without any fear," Kira replied with tears?
"You two shall forever remain a statue," Kira announced.
"As a sign for the next generation," Akira replied.
At that moment, the two boys halted their race, and something magical take over. Something the whole onlookers of Gujarat and Olumo inhabitants have never seen before, and will never glimpse again for the rest of their life.
The boys turned into a pillar of stones.
"No more liquor, and you leave my inn at this moment." An angry voice barked out at drunken Augur who snores before him.
He raised his hand and slapped him thrice, but the man snore louder.
"Damn you," the man screamed in frustration.
"All you do is get drunk, sleep, screamed in your dream, then rushed down to consume more liquor on credit."
But Augur snored louder, then screamed out suddenly from his dream, "fire... Oh, fire!"
He looked at the man looming with anger on his front and fell asleep instantly, and resumed snoring shortly later.
"You are possessed." The man screamed in contempt.
"You are leaving my place at this moment." The man walked off in anger towards a room that served as a kitchen and soon emerged with a bucket filled with cold water.
"This will wake you up."
Augur was deep in a repeating nightmare and was fighting for his life against a big alien.
The alien suddenly loomed closer with a bucket of unknown weapons, then splashed it at him.
Augur, in defense, picked up a table knife with his left hand, then dived at his attacker and smashed his right fist into his gut, he grabbed him as he staggered, twist him, then plunged the table knife into his neck.
"Die... Son of a bitch... Die." Augur breathed heavily as the alien stumbled and fell dead.
Surprisingly, the alien's blood was green.
When Augur woke up, he saw the dead body of the man who had saved him from drowning, feed him, shelter him and provide unlimited liquor.
"Only the twins can stop these maddening dreams," Augur mumbled aloud.
Then the realization of the interpretation of the dream dawned on him and he grimaced at the only option left to restore his sanity.
The death of the two goddesses.
"Time to seek them out" Augur cried out, then began his unbelievable journey of seeking Kira and Akira.
And like the proverb goes, if the mountain did not go in search of Mohammed, then Mohammed will go in search of the mountain. In this case, both parties are searching for each other, and when they meet, only one is alive to tell the tale.
