THE VULTURE IS A PATIENT BIRD
Horus hopped for a day and a night, and only rested the following morning. A big tree soon served as his resting abode as he lurched on the branches comfortably.
For a long time, Horus enjoyed his solitude alone and soon fell in love with the sacred silence that would have been perfect if not for the noise of the grasshoppers and crickets calling out to their mate.
Hours later, Horus's eyeballs began to obey the law of nature, and the tired alien soon fell into a deep sleep that lasted for a while.
Horus's sleeping was abruptly cut short by the screaming of a human lady, who seemed to be attacked by some people.
"None of my damn business," Horus muttered aloud, and close his eyes to his sleeping, but the lady's screaming keeps reverberating in the silent night, and even the grasshoppers and crickets keep mute at her horrible noise.
"She won't allow me to enjoy my rest if I don't make this my business. " Horus said with annoyance, and dropped down the tree, and walk close to the source of the noise.
A few feet away, Horus suddenly stopped with wrath at the scene in his front.
"Damn bastards." He cried out and hopped at the three men, who by now had swirled towards him.
"Leave that lady now, or-"
"Or what?" A man with dreadlocked hair walked bare-chested towards Horus. "Damn alien pucknossing in humans affair."
"You are raping your opposite species, and still have the gut to insult me." Horus cried out, then hopped at the man who walked close to him. He bobbed his straight punch, jerked him close, lifted him, and crushed him on his knee, then tossed him lifelessly on the ground.
The second man thrust a dagger at Horus's throat, but he stepped off the blade, then jabbed the man on his right leg knee.
The man loomed forward and tried dived off the jerked of the alien in his front, but the alien yanked him back, snatched the dagger out of his hand, and thrust it into his right shoulder, then the left one, then the right knee a, and the left knee, and at last, his two palms were chopped off.
The last man at the sight of the fate of his two accomplices dropped the rod in his hand out of fright, swirled, and tried to race off, but the lady at his front kicked his knee and he staggered, fell, and landed with a loud sound, but rise instantly to resume his race, only to be knocked down on the ground by the alien with evil gaze who suddenly appeared beside him.
Horus jerked the man off the ground with his right hand, removed a dagger from the pouch attached to his body and slashed his two ears off, then chopped off all his fingers and toes.
"I won't kill any of you, but make you live and share your story to discourage those who may wish to follow your path," Horus said, then tossed the dying man off his hand.
"Thank you." The naked lady muttered with appreciation. "You save my life."
"It's okay," Horus replied. Veered around and walked back to resume his sleeping.
"My name is Risha." The lady announced, then raced after the outgoing alien. "Please tell me your name."
"Go away," Horus yelled back at the lady.
"Not until you tell me your name." She cried back.
"Horus is my name, now go away and stopped disturbing me with noise as I need to rest my weary body."
"Horus is a beautiful name." The lady replied. "Did you live inside this forest?"
"Please go away," Horus yelled at the lady who keep walking after him. He reached the tree where he once relaxed and instantly climbed and soon relaxed in his formal position.
"Are you sleeping alone inside this forest?" Risha asked with a concerned glare.
"Do you mind?" Horus replied.
"Yes," Risha replied. "Please alight from the tree and follow me down to my village."
"Thanks but no thanks," Horus replied.
"Please come with me and let me repay my gratitude the little way I can." The lady insisted.
Horus ignored her and pretended to sleep, but the out-crying lady keeps begging him to succumb to her demand.
"Just today and I will let you go tomorrow morning." Risha keeps begging.
At last, Horus is left with no choice dropped down the tree, and followed the lady down to her village. And it was a decision he was glad to make, whenever he remembered Risha and her devotion to him.
The following morning, the scepter gang resumed their journey and soon reached the place where the former gang was once massacred. Vultures were seen devouring the remnant of the burnt humans which littered the floor, and the vulture instantly hopped up into the branches of the nearby trees.
"The vulture is a patient bird " Akira muttered.
"They will wait till we are out of sight, then descended back to their meals," Kira added.
Akira turned to Dija beside her and advised. "To be able to devour your enemies, you must learn to be patient like the vulture."
"What is patient?" Dija asked back.
"The ability to overcome all the five human weaknesses," Akira replied.
"Fear, hatred, envy, greed, and love. Kira explained.
"When am not ruled by any of these weaknesses?" Dija asked.
"Then you are patient," Kira replied.
The column soon went out of sight but was later seen at a T -junction.
Far off, some men with turbans galloped closer, but they soon halted and gazed at the gang blocking their way.
"We want no trouble, but begged to pass through your midst." The wounded man on the horse cried out at the incoming gang.
"We will allow you to pass if you can tell us about those we are after," Kira replied.
"Who are you after." The man asked back.
"A gang led by a woman," Akira replied.
"We just retreated from conflicts with them, I beg you to let us go in peace."
"How far from this place?" Dija asked.
"Half a day journey by horse." The man replied.
"You can pass now," Akira announced to the men who still stood undecided far off.
"Not until you assure me none of your people will attack us." The man replied meekly.
"Kira instantly pass the order that no one should touch the men on the horse, but Dija walked close to her and whispered in her ear.
"We will need your horses," Dija announced.
The men by now had reached the middle of the scepter gang before Dija's announcement, nevertheless, their leader instantly gave the signal to retreat but it was too late.
All the wounded men on horses were instantly dragged off, while some among the scepter gang members replaced them and instantly galloped after the twins.
"Let others follow us by the leg." Akira declared.
Half of the teams soon galloped after the scepter gang, while the rest raced after.
