THE GODS AND GODDESSES ARE NOT TO BE BLAMED
L
Reagan was seen walking to and fro as the rest of the column prepared to resume their journey.
He looked aggressively at Apollon777 who stare at the sky as if expecting a miracle.
"How I wish am as strong as him, I would have attacked him right now." Reagan soliloquize then looked more glaringly at the alien who seemed lost in his thought.
As if he was aware of Reagan's thought, Apollon777 whirled at him, then walked close and stood a mile off. "Good morning, and did you sleep soundly?"
"Huh!" Reagan replied in a monosyllable to show his anger at the alien who dare to walk close to him, after impregnating his girlfriend.
"I understand how you feel, and I want to make peace with you."
"I have nothing against you, please excuse me," Reagan answered back, then walked off the alien's front.
Apollon777 walked after him and inquired. "Did she inform you that she was pregnant for me?"
"How dare you?" Reagan screamed inside, turned back, and glared at the alien at his back. "Yes, you can now have her back."
"She is yours, and the decision to keep the pregnancy is yours as well, am so sorry for coming in between a perfect love."
"The deed is done, why begging?"
"Because I erred you and I ought to ask for your forgiveness."
"It's okay, I have already let bygone be bygone!"
"What about Maria?"
"What about her?" Reagan mimicked back.
"I want you to forgive her and accept her back, everything that happened is not her fault."
"Whose fault?"
"The gods and goddesses, and they are not to be blamed."
Reagan stood for a while as the weight of the alien's words sink into him.
Indeed, the gods and goddesses are not to be blamed.
They had played pranks on him for a long, and this seemed to be their last trial, who can blame the infinite?
No one! The gods and goddesses are not to be blamed.
"Am on a suicide mission on earth, and I have no plan of returning to my planet, what will happen to her when am gone?"
Reagan stares at the alien in his front speechlessly, as his words cut like a hot knife into butter.
Love is about having and letting go, about forgiving and forgetting, but what about the unborn baby of the alien? And what will happen when the alien finally has his way and no more? What about Maria and her baby when it finally arrived?
Lots of questions race through Reagan's mind, yet no answer seemed to be forthcoming. But one thing is certain and indisputable, he has no life without Maria!
"Please forgive her and accept her back, she is sad and dying without your love."
"Thank you," Reagan answered back. "I will think about these and take the right decision."
"Thank you," Apollon777 let out, smiling weakly, and begged after. "Am truly sorry and I never meant any of this to happen. But what can I do, I am a victim as well."
"Yes," Reagan answered back. "We are all victims of the gods and goddesses!"
"I love Maria as well, but my love for her has no future. Besides, you are the one she craved for!"
"I will always remember that," Reagan answered back and walked off to join the rest of the gang at the rear end of the column.
Like a runner that just had his first sip of cold water, the satisfaction that gleamed on Apollon777 face radiated all over his body and he smile as he sauntered close to his horse and hopped on it.
The whole column resumed their journey uneventfully, except for being occasionally delayed by different mobs on the blocked highway. But they were allowed to go, out of fear of the large column of men, aliens, and their grunting zombies.
"How far to our destination?" Bobby asked Brenda as he galloped close to her on horseback.
"Five hundred kilometers, we should be able to cover this in three days."
"And then what?"
"We wait for Horus to come or call him as he instructed."
"What about the parchment given to you, can't we unleash the scepter with its help?"
"No," Brenda answered back. "It was written in strange languages and I have no idea what the jargon means."
"What about the twins?"
"What about them?" Brenda asked back.
"What is your plan about their demands?"
"I have no plan yet, but one thing is certain-" she paused, looked at her back to see if there is any closer eavesdropper, and resumed her speech when she was satisfied with the distance between them and the nearest man on a horse. "I have no plan of putting the twins in charge of the world control!"
Bobby bobbed his head in understanding.
The twins were selfish and will plunge the world into more misery from their greedy ambitions, but to deny them is like putting fire on gasoline.
What is to be done?
Time will tell!
The Senators resumed their seating, and this time around, the king was among them.
He was seen sitting on a high seat at the back of the twelve senators as the seating proceed.
After being informed of the result of the previous seating, he had taken the last step to save his friend from the calamity that was about to befall him.
Though the evidence against Geisha was so glaring and indisputable, and his attacking of Zuri was the last straw that broke the camel's back, nevertheless a friend in need is a friend indeed. Perhaps, there will be a loophole and he will capitalize on this to save his friend.
"You were once given a chance to lead our fighter and destroy the scepter, you are the only survivor. Can you explain how this happened?" The first senate, who is the Senate leader asked Horus who stood in a cubic that was both meant for the accused as well as the witness.
"Contrary to the tales told to us since childhood, the humans are bold, strong, wise, and capable of controlling the world. But that was not why I fail-"
"Why did you fail?" The impatient senator cut into Horus's speech.
"We all failed because the gods and goddesses have chosen humans over us, they are righteous and we are the real devil."
"Are you saying the humans have the backing of the supernatural and that was why you all can't destroy a scepter?" Another senator asked with mouth agape."
"Yes," Horus replied with a straight face. "We will keep failing and then be defeated at the end, but we can save our faces and settled amicably with them, or leave them to their fate."
"Don't you think your speech can be considered treason against the crown?" The king asked in a yelling tone.
"If speaking the truth is now considered treason, then I will gladly give my head for my offense. Unfortunately, am called here as a witness and not as a culprit and you will need a new warrant to arrest me for my treason "
"We can get that today." The senate leader shrieked back.
"Yes," Horus answered back. "But according to the seal with the imperial majesty that brought me here, am covered by immunity and can only be arrested whenever am back on earth, because am summoned as a witness and not as an accused."
The Senate reasoned among themselves and most among them marvel at the knowledge of Horus in law and his eloquence in proving it.
"We are going for a break and will be back in an hour." The senate leader announced, gaping at the alien in the pubic and shaking his head as he walked out of the auditorium and was followed by his co-senator and lastly by the king and his entourage.
After an hour of break, all the senators soon assembled and resumed their seating.
"So the humans are indomitable to us?" The king asked Horus.
"Yes, because they have a reason to defend the only place they had known as their home since creation."
"Then Geisha had shone us the error of our law!" The king exclaimed back.
"What?" Stunned Horus gaped at the face of the cunning king, who is spinning off his webs of cunningness.
"Please explain, your highness." The senate leader asked.
"Geisha had shown us that the only way to defeat humans is to revoke the banning of our strongest weapon."
"What about its destruction of the planet earth, we all knew the weapons do emit dangerous radiation that is destructive to the mother earth!" Horus exclaimed back.
"Collateral damages, will we only use it to dominate humans, destroy the scepter, and set a new world order. After that, the weapon will be banned again."
"Hypocrites, " Horus screamed inside but asked instead. "So why are we invading the earth, if we end up committing the same offenses we are punishing them for?"
Another deafening silence engulfed the whole auditorium and it lasted for a whole minute.
"We will be meeting same time tomorrow for the final verdict," the Senate leader announced. "And thank you Horus for your sincere opinion."
