Medicine after death
The broken wall of Gujarat town had been rebuilt and the men busied themselves with combatant training as they await the first rain.
Inexperience men soon became experienced and the weaker ones stronger, and they all eagerly and pray for conflicts as a result of their self-believe capability.
Before leaving the king's palace, Zuri had begged the king for warriors to accompany him on a mission.
"I have some loose ends to tie." Zuri implored the king for a while until his demand was granted.
But a clause was added, he must be back immediately the first rain touches the ground, to resume his plan for the forthcoming raining season.
When all was set, Zuri, Sebastian, and fifty warriors under the command of One-eye raced through the gate of Gujarat town.
"Where are we heading?" One-eye asked Zuri who stand beside him.
Zuri walked in-between the two humans and put his arms around their shoulders and said.
"I will tell you my plan."
He motioned for the pair to walk faster to put a distance between them and the men following.
"Horus has a prototype that can defeat Enoch and take the scepter, and I believed Horus had gone in search of her."
Zuri paused to tighten his grip on the two men beside him and resumed.
"I want us to tag along and defeat him on his way back."
"What if he had produced another prototype to achieve his purpose, while we all traveled around in search of him?" Sebastian asked.
"No," Zuri replied.
"Our law doesn't work that way, he needs permission, certificate, and more prove before he can produce his invention in mass."
"What if he had gotten the permission in your absence?" Sebastian asked further.
"Impossible," Zuri replied.
"Things like this takes months, years, or sometimes forever if the invention is against public opinion." He added.
"And when we have the lady?" Sebastian inquired.
"Then we have the scepters," Zuri replied.
"What are we going to do with the scepter?" One-eye asked in confusion. He was a novice and never partnered with any of their discussion.
Though he felt privileged to be included and he believed he was incorporated because of his loyalty to the alien, he believed it was his right to know what he was about to go into.
"The scepter is the supreme source of power, and whoever owned the scepter control the whole world," Sebastian replied.
One-eye bobbed his head as the realization dawned on him.
"No wonder the twins guarded it in a town with big walls and lots of warriors." He said.
"What can we do with fifty men against your clan of potent warriors?" Sebastian asked.
"A lot," Zuri replied, then added. "We can get hundreds of men in a day, and many men will follow us when we defeat the twins to acquire the scepter."
Zuri looked into the eyes of the two humans beside him and concluded. "That is where you come in, all these humans don't trust but feared me, but they believed in you."
"Yes," One-eye replied. "They will do whatever I say, and it's easier for me to get more men because of my reputation."
"We need more men," Sebastian announced.
"And when talking failed?" One-eye asked.
"Then force won't," Zuri replied.
Ten men on horses galloped non-stop and soon neared their targets.
They had been ordered by their commander, and their assignment was clear enough.
They are to bring him the heads of those who massacre the men and passed through his territory against his order.
They soon glimpsed their targets galloping far off and they quicken their pace.
After several hours of chasing, their targets stopped before the gate of a town surrounded by tall walls made with hard-core stones, and before the ten men galloped close to them, the gate was opened and the whole column stepped into the town and the gate was closed.
"They are lucky, but their luck won't last, we will be clambering over the fence by nightfall." Their team leader said to his comrades.
They dropped off their horses and hide along with them in a bush nearby, to await dusk.
"You speak our code of entrance, reason why I instructed them to open the gate." A man with a bald head and mustaches said when the team entered inside the gate.
Brenda glanced around and marvel at the serene environment, cleanliness, and sanity of the inhabitants whom she can see far off attending to their daily chores.
She envied their untroubled gaze and cheerfulness, as well as their unconcerned attitude towards the insanity of the world around them.
"Am an indigene of this town and seek the presence of this town's warlord. Zuma introduced himself.
" Who are you to seek the presence of my lord?" The guard asked back in shock.
"Tell him Zuma is here." The speaker replied.
Brenda walked close to Zuma and jabbed him friendly on the chest, then inquired. "Are we safe here?"
Zuma smiled back. He strode close to the guard and asked in a whisper. "I believe my king is hale and healthy."
"Aye." The guard replied. "My king is as strong as a bull and just married his seventh virgin." He added in a joke.
The guard now fearing the importance of his guests quickly order men to ask for the town's warlord's presence and offered to water and feed their horses.
The town's warlord soon approached and was followed by four hefty men with weapons.
He is a tall man in his late sixties, with a muscular physique and golden gray hair that makes him look royally.
"Who seek my presence?" He barked out at the guard in control, steered his gaze left side, and looked stunned at the presence of Zuma.
"You, what-" The elderly man stopped his speech mid-way, stared at Zuma to confirm truly him, and turned about suddenly, then motioned for the new-comers to follow him.
"Dirty underwears are better to wash In private." The warlord cursed under his breath as he led the way back to his house.
Brenda and her team walked into a spacious parlor of a magnificent bungalow.
They all seated on a chair and face their host who sat at a bigger chair at their front.
After all the guards were instructed to leave their presence for a while, the aged man looked at Zuma for some second, fidgeted on his seat, and asked with a pressing gaze. "Why are you here?"
"Because I choose to come back," Zuma replied and let out. "Is that why you refuse to offer us cola as customs demanded?"
"Stop beating around the bush," the man cried back in annoyance, then asked. " Did you know the implications of your sudden visit?" "I'm sure you do." He replied himself, looked around to be sure no guard is eavesdropping on them and said. " You left me with no choice but to report your presence to the king."
"You can, out of cowardness," Zuma retorted.
The man stiffened his face in anger at the insult and cried back.
"You are the real coward and fled when your people and your family need you most."
He suddenly burst into tears at the memory of his only child's death.
"You left my daughter to die to save your head, so selfish of you."
"He who fights and runs, live to fight another day," Zuma replied.
"You and I know I have no power to save her, and any more delay is at the cost of my own life." He added, raised his right arm toward his face, and clean the gathering tears flowing down with his palm.
"I still missed them all and have vowed to remain lonely for the rest of my life."
"Medicine after death." The man replied in annoyance. "Now tell me why you are here." He added after smirking for a while.
"To reclaim my throne," Zuma answered back.
"Reclaim your throne?" Brenda raised a question in shock.
She was confused with the conversation going on but never bothered to interfere because she knew little of the hulk of the flesh of a man, except that he was a cop under the command of Elenu.
But the word; throne, had immediately sunk into her and the realization had blown her off her feet.
"Are you a king?" She asked, then stunned toward Zuma.
"Was a king," the elderly man replied. "I'm not surprised he had been lying to you about himself all this while."
"I was a king, and am back to reclaim my throne," Zuma replied and ignored his father-in-law's criticism.
"With a sick lady, a man, a woman, and an alien?" The man asked with a bemused smile.
"Yes," Zuma replied and added. "With you as well."
"How can I join you and risk everything I have, everything I have ever worked for?" The elderly man inquired back.
"What exactly did you have?" Zuma asked back, fluttered his arms all around, and said.
"We both have nothing left, except to redeem our name and not to be seen as a coward by the incoming generation."
"And when we die doing this?" The warlord asked back in a puzzled expression.
"Then so be it, at least history will remember that we tried and failed."
"Halt and turn back now." A tall, fat, man with a military cap on his head cried at the approaching aliens.
"Let lose the animals against them," Horus commanded immediately.
The aliens holding the chin binding the wolves instantly loosed the thread binding the animals and removed their chains then shoved them towards the humans in their front.
The wolves soon covered the distance and plunged into the midst of the men, but they can only cause minor injuries as the men quickly slew them with blades of their weapons.
"Attack now and kill them all," Horus commanded his legion of warriors.
Those fighting against the aliens were known as the barrack's gang. They were all trained soldiers with the Nigerian military forces under Osun state division until the knockout.
When government no longer functions, the commander in charge of the base immediately summoned his men to form a gang, while he directly remain their overall boss.
He was the one that decreed no man, woman or aliens must pass through his territory, and it was his men that attacked Brenda and her team some hours ago. And upon being informed, he instantly commanded ten men to gallop after them and bring him their heads.
Some minutes earlier, one of his watchers had caught a glimpse of the approaching aliens, and he had instantly set a plan into effect.
"Once a soldier, will always be a soldier." The commander reasoned insist then watched the aliens racing towards his armies.
The men suddenly retreated as the aliens came nearer, they entered into a field nearby and walked in a line towards the river, then jumped inside and swim out at the other side.
"Go after them and kill them all," Horus shouted at his warriors.
The aliens immediately scattered into the field in pursuit of their fleeing enemies.
What emerged remained a mystery to Horus. Fire abruptly erupted all over the field where his Hoorays just raced into. He drooled with shock as his warriors hurled themselves on the ground and remained lifeless in a few seconds, yet the consuming fire seemed to be erupting from the ground below.
Horus instantly ordered his warriors to retreat, but it was already late.
Most laid dead, while those who made it out, look like roasted chickens displayed for consumption.
"How many alive," Horus asked the warrior beside him.
The Hooray looked around and counted in silence. "Ten." He replied.
Horus stepped close to the physician attending to the eight wounded Hooray on the floor and asked. "How long for them to be healed?"
"Two hours, but I need to be left undisturbed. The physician replied.
Zuri bobbed his head and motioned to two Hoorays to stand close to the physician, then looked sharply beyond the smoke at the gathering men who now raced forward, singing the battle song.
