PEACE IS COSTLIER THAN DIAMOND

"Who the hell are you?" Dija screamed at the man in her front. She nibbed his neck with her sword, and watched keenly as blood flowed from the pierced neck of the motionless man.
"I mean no harm, and only seek for crumbs to fill my hungry stomach." Augur replied.
"And you choose my camp, out of all the camps on this field." She asked back.
"Pardon my error, but I have no knowledge about who stays here, I just entered the one that caught my fancy." The man replied.
Dija swirled and appeared at Augur's front. "I don't believe you, and you must be an assassin sent to kill me."
The man laughed awkwardly for some seconds, then replied. "Take me to where you keep your dogs, and I will gladly share their meals with them."
Dija fixed her eyes on the tall man with a puzzled look. She lowered her weapon and stepped back towards her bed. She bend down, searched inside a bag close to her bedside, removed some biscuits, tin milk, and a can of beef, tossed them to the man, and dismissed him with her hand.
"Thank you miss-"
"Dija." The lady replied. "Did you stay around here?"
"No miss." I am a wanderer and have no place to call mine." The man replied.
Dija pointed at a chair at the entrance of the camp, then asked the man to seat on it and eat his meal. "Every vagabond goes around in search of something," Dija announced after the man had sat down to devour his meal.
"Yes," the man agreed. "I'm searching for peace."
"Peace," Dija muttered back with surprise. "People have searched for love, vengeance, wisdom, and treasures. But have never heard of someone searching for peace."
"Yes," the man agreed, swallowing the food in his mouth, and washing it down with bottled water, mixed with milk. "I have never heard of such as well."
Dija bobbed her head in respect of the man's honesty, yet her prying ears begged for more. The man in her front looked strong and filled with vigor, but something seemed to be killing him and eating his soul.
"Peace is costlier than diamonds," Dija muttered aloud. "Can't remember when I feel at peace with myself."
The man swallowed the meal in his mouth and smiled at the lady's wise word. He looked keenly at her and asked. "You seemed to be seeking something like me?"
"Yes," Dija replied. "I seek revenge."
"That is understandable." The man let out. What after you get your revenge?" He asked after.
"Nothing else matters after that," Dija answered back. "I have dedicated my life to this mission, and will gladly accept death with embrace after that."
"I admire your point." Augur said. "Nothing else matters after we have our desire."
"And you?" Dija asked. "What will you do after you have your peace
Augur replied with a smile. "Like you, nothing else matters."
"Will you stay with our gang for a while?" Dija asked after the man finished his meal.
"Where are you heading?" Augur asked.
"Have you met some gang led by a woman named Brenda?" Dija asked back.
"Not sure I have." Augur replied. "Are you searching for them?"
"Yes, we are marching after them, I heard they were going toward Niger state," Dija answered.
"I may follow you, maybe I will meet the twins during our journey." Augur let out, after some moment of deep thought.
"Are you talking of Kira and Akira?" Dija asked with an alarmed gaze.
"Yes." Augur answered back. "Did you know anything about them?"
"Yes," Dija answered. "I was their gang warlord for a while and only left them when we were attacked by the aliens from the spaceship." She looked at the man and then gasped out. "You are Augur, right?"
"And you must be the lady that took over after I left." Augur replied with a wide smile.
"If you seek the twins, then seek no more. I'm sure they are dead." Dija announced after some moment of deep thought.
"No," Augur retorted. "The twins can't be killed, I have witnessed their divine power and magic, and I believe no weapon can kill them."
Dija bobbed her head in agreement with Augur's speech. "Have heard rumors of their invulnerability, but I saw them turned to dust with my two eyes."
"Eyes are deceptive," Augur countered. "The twins once turned into blinding light and plummeted out of an inferno, then landed in my front." He fixed his gaze on the woman in his front then muttered out. "I guess they will appear in their shrine inside Olumo rock."
"Maybe they will, why did you seek them, if I may ask," Dija asked.
"To put them to death," Augur answered.
When Maria informed Apollon777 of Brenda's injury, she galloped off with her and was soon followed by others in their column.
But the jihadist galloped in pursuit of them.
Maria stopped by a riverside, descended her horse, and dragged Brenda down. She carried her close to the riverbank, and cleanse her wound.
Men soon arrived after her, then Apollon777.
Put men at the bridge to stop those in our pursuit until I treat her wound." Apollon777 let out. Hopped down his horse and jerked the unconscious lady to a sitting position.
"Blow the bridge down," Bobby announced. "That is the only way to stop their pursuit."
"We have no dynamite, and the bridge is made of iron," Maria replied.
"I have an idea," Apollon777 said after some moments of thinking. "We can push that truck over there and am sure it will crash the bridge if it tumbled into its stand here."
"Or at least block the way and gave us a better position to counterattack or retreat when needed," Bobby added, then shouted to some men to form a defense line in the middle of the bridge. "Retreat at my signal." He gathered men together and they sauntered close to the truck, arranged themselves at its back then hauled it forward.
The jihadists on the horses soon arrived at the scene and instantly plunged into the defense of the men in line and conflicts ensued.
For some minutes, sparkles of light were seen as iron struck against iron. Then cries intermixed with the whiny of a horse sounded eerily as sunset approached.
"Retreat." Bobby cried out as soon as the truck whirled forward.
The men instantly whirled around, then raced back, the last man was caught in-between the incoming truck and the jihadists on a horse who raced behind. He stepped left, then right, not satisfied with his decision. He looked at the river a hundred feet below. Left with no choice, the man frog jumped and landed with a splash. Luckily, he was a good swimmer and soon swim out to join his comrade.
When the jihadist saw the truck plummeting forward, they instantly turned out of fright and galloped back.
The truck crashed into the stand of the bridge while its body blocked some sections of the bridge.
The men, satisfied with their achievements soon push smaller trucks and cars and completely block the bridge.
Maria, Bobby, and some men stationed themselves and await the men who are now forced to drop off their horses hopped on the vehicles blocking the way, and leaped into the midst of the waiting men.
Maria chopped the two legs of a jihadist who leaped on the bonnet of the car in her front. Then thrust her spear into his throat as he landed with great screams.
Another man jumped at her front, then struck his sword at her, but Maria stepped off his thrust, then struck back.
The man charged at the lady in his front, he slashed at the arm holding the spear, turned, jumped up, and slashed at her head, when his first blow was bobbed.
"Is that all you got, sucker?" Maria screamed back with a grin, she feigned a thrust in her opponent's gut and leaped as the man stepped out of her thrust. Using the spear as her stand, Maria jumped up and swirled at her opponent, then double kicked him in his face.
As soon as she landed on her feet, she jerked her spear off the ground and thrust it into the neck of the staggering man. Then swung it left and thrust it into the gut of another jihadist leaping at her.
Few men can stand Bobby's rage, whenever he remembered that Brenda was wounded and probably dying at this moment. He thrust his sword into the left eye of a man attacking with a sledgehammer, jerked his hammer off his hand, then flung it up and smashed it on the screaming, blinded man.
With his new weapon, Bobby struck at any jihadist who leaped in his front.
Apollon777 hunched over Brenda and cleaned her wounded scalp, then add some liquid content to it. He laid the unconscious lady on the ground, insert some syringe into her vein and deposit more liquid content into her.
Close by, conflicts raged on, and the sparkles of fire as iron sharpened iron became more visible as darkness descended.
"Brenda is not breathing," Apollon777 muttered inside.
Perhaps he was afraid pronouncing this out will make it absolute.
