A FALLACY.
Brenda's team cycles uneventfully till they reached the church where the church was built. In there front stood a magnificent building, painted white with a huge entrance.
Bobby leaned on the door and it creaked open.
"Is this place never locked?" Brenda asked no one.
"No idea, but I think this place is already burgled," Elenu retorted.
Brenda motioned for Bobby, Zuma, and the pilot to stay with the caravan and their weapons as she and Elenu with the priest walked inside the building and trekked the few meters into the church's main building.
"What exactly are you searching for?" Elena asked her as the threesome entered.
"An ancient scepter." She said.
They passed the rows of chairs arranged to face the church altar. Brenda glared inside the church interior, decorated with marbles and sculptures of unknown entities that seemed to be alive and irritated with the intruders the ways they stared with their stony eyes.
She motioned for Sebastian to wait as both she and Elenu climbed the three steps separating the altar from the other section of the church.
"I think it's stolen," Elenu said as he searched along with her.
Brenda nodded in agreement. "The scepter is not here." She cried out at Sebastian who stood a few feet away.
Sebastian nodded and smirked. "It will be found," he promised.
"What's so special about this scepter?" Elenu asked.
"Not sure yet, except that I was told it belongs to a demigod." She replied as the trio walked out of the building.
Suddenly a commotion was heard from outside and the trio quickly sprint outside. Four aged men and two elderly women with farm weapons had circled their caravan and were ready to attack the men who stood uncertain of what to do.
"What's going on here?" Brenda asked with amusement on her sweaty and tired face.
" They all claimed we are aliens!" Bobby replied. "Tell them to stop before I lose my temper." He concluded with a mean face.
Brenda walked to the eldest among them, a man bulky man with grey hair. The man had immediately poised his spike and quickly do a sign of the cross.
"Get away from me, alien." He yelled.
"We mean no harm," she yelled back. "We are human like you, please put down your weapons." She pleaded.
"Grandpa." A young boy shouted as he trotted towards them. "They are not the aliens."
The elderly man looked at his grandson, then at Brenda and her team, and signaled to his people to lower their weapons.
"Sorry for the error," he begged. "Things happening so fast these aged people aren't able to comprehend." The boy said.
"It's okay, Bobby replied with a smile at the chivalry those aged men had attacked them.
" What's with the aliens?" Brenda asked the young man who had finally pacified his people and they all dispersed immediately.
"The aliens are here, I saw them with my eyes." He answered back.
"Kidding right?" Zuma asked.
"No, I wasn't aware how they entered the church which is quite incredible as am always here spying on whoever entered the church gate." He said.
"That's hard to believe," Elenu mumbled with a skeptical face.
"Agreed, I was shocked to see them emerging from the church, they were fifty in number, with one commander who appeared very pissed." The boy continued. "I saw the leader pressing something on his arm and a holographic phone appeared.
" This seemed like a fiery tale. Zuma chipped in. "If phones no longer work and humans technology had suddenly stopped then I won't doubt an aliens invasion." He paused and continued. "Yet, it still all seemed like a fiery tale." He surmised.
"I think you will be surprised at the fallacy that man is the most intelligent animal that exists." The boy looked at the people in his front as he resumed. "I now see with my eyes reasons to doubt this misconception.
"Can you describe how they look like and if ever they leave with a scepter," Brenda asked?
" They are not with the scepter, I'm sure about this. As for their look- " he paused and veer around. " I have a picture of their leader that I draw with my pencil." He said and jog off.
"Mummy !" A young voice was heard screaming from the caravan in-between the tricycle.
"Ouch... My baby." Brenda fleed off towards the caravan, opened it, and scooped up the girl laying inside.
"I want my mummy," the girl said, bursting into tears. She touched the bandage on her leg and forehead and paused. Recollection settled in as her hazel eyes became watery.
"Your mummy is dead, did you remember?" Brenda asked as she cleaned the tears off her face.
The crying girl bobbed her head and replied. " yes."
" I will be your new mother and always protect you." She paused to clean the tears that had gathered in her eyes. "Please stop crying."
The girl cleared her throat and said. "Thank you."
Brenda held her hand and both walked towards her group.
"This is the picture of their leader," the boy said as he jogged back to them.
Bobby collected it and looked stunned. "Are this thing here?" He asked.
Brenda quickly walked closer to peek. The picture she saw was like a shape of a woman in a locust body. "This looks like something out of a teenage sci-fi movie."
The whole group stood stupefied at the revelation that something like this is actually on earth.
" I'm sure lots of people have seen them as well." He said. "They want us to know they are around as they aren't making any effort to be invisible."
"What else did you hear from them?" Brenda asked after passing the picture to Elenu who now gawk at the strange image the boy drew.
The boy scratched his clean chin and said. "I saw the picture of Kira and Akira, I think they are on their way to Guara kingdom.
" Kira and Akira!" Elenu and Zuma exclaimed.
"This is getting interesting, " Elenu said. "Whatever the aliens are looking for, I bet Kira and Akira won't give it up easily."
"What are we missing?" Bobby asked with arms akimbo.
"Kira and Akira are the most celebrated witches around here, they have millions of followers on social media and make fortune out of it. They are also an ambassador to some companies, perform stage magic or healing and it is rumored they are a goddess among humans." Elenu explained.
Bobby dipped his hand inside his bag and brought out bread, peanut, and a bottle of yogurt. " Hey kitten, eat this." He offered it to the young girl snuggling at Brenda's neck.
"Who knows the road to Guara kingdom? Brenda asked.
" I know the road," Zuma replied.
Elenu gawked at him " Never heard about this from you."
Zuma shrugged " We never talked about things like this." He replied.
"Mind if I keep this picture with me?" Brenda begged the young man. " You are such an amazing artist."
"Yes..yes I love that" The boy choked with happiness. Someone had loved his artwork.
" Let me pay you for this," Bobby said as he dipped his hand inside his pocket and brought out a gold wristwatch.
"Where did you find this?" Brenda asked.
"I removed it from the youngster I killed at the museum. " He answered back.
The boy who had stretched his hand to collect the gift paused when he heard the wristwatch belong to a dead man. He looked from Brenda to Bobby, snatched the watch from Bobby's hand, and runoff.
"We need to get going, it's a bit far," Zuma said.
The next gang Kira and Akira group met is that of big tiger's gang. Durell quickly marched forward to embrace his brother who walked with a limp and a swollen arm.
"Are you okay?" He asked after the usual greeting and salutation.
"We had a brawl with some faction and it didn't end well. I got wounded and lost my face and some of my men." He replied. "Are these your gang members?" He asked as he shake Akira and Kira, and patted the king on the back.
"You just met Kira and Akira, they are leading a sect of the revolutionary army against the invading aliens.
" Have heard a lot about you two and am happy to finally meet you." Big Tiger said.
"Good or bad?" Akira inquired?
"Sometimes good and sometimes bad, " he responded and continued. "In truth, there is no complete saint nor absolute sinners, we all fall in-between.
" I respect your honesty," Akira said.
"While I respect your beauty." Big tiger replied with a slight bow.
"We need you and your men to follow us to where they will be saved from the aliens. We will be training men to fight the aliens and send them back to where they came from." Akira said.
"We will love to follow you," he replied. "Except for the unfinished business I have with those who attacked me and my men.
"I agreed to avenge your people's death is important," Akira said as she patted big tiger's back arm.
"Ouch...You are hurting me." He cried out. "I had a fracture when I landed on my back during the fight. I broke my right arm and leg."
"Let me have a look," Akira hold big Tiger's arm with her right hand and her left hand was placed on his wounded leg. She fixed her eyes on him and muttered some phrases.
Suddenly, what look like a dazzling light flashed and seemed to penetrate inside the wounded arm and leg. Immediately, his wound became healed and he jumped up and down with surprise.
"They are the savior," Durell screamed as he embraced his brother. "Look what they turned my chain to, a big snake."
Big Tiger peeked at Durell's neck and said. "I'm not seeing any snake except for a gold chain."
Darrell looked at the snake on his neck, which immediately raised its head and bore its fang. "Oh...no...please." He screamed as the snake tried to bite him in the eyes.
Akira stepped closed to him and whispered. "It won't bite you except you disobey us." She looked at big Tiger and continued. "He can't see it, he is as blind as a bat."
Durell jerk his head and begged." Just tell it to stop scaring me."
Big Tiger walked towards Akira with a grin. " I have made up my mind, will be following you down there with my men and their families. Some of my men will stay to guide the place along with the women and the children. Then I will be tracking down those who attacked and killed my men." He paused and resumed. " I won't be coming back till I have my revenge. "
"How many able men did you have in your gang?" Akira asked.
"One hundred and forty-eight men, most are married with kids and I don't know their exact families number. Except those enlisted as my warriors." Big Tiger replied.
"Eighty are staying with us, others can follow you in search of your enemies," Akira said.
Big Tiger paused to deliberate on the condition for a while, then nodded his head in agreement. " We have a deal."
"Tell your people to pack quickly, we are moving in the next thirty minutes. Akira announced.
"We will be ready," big brother promised with a smile, turning towards his gang members.
