Chapter 101

Gavin was fuming, his teeth grinding in anger. He could tell Lucas was in a great mood and wasn't holding back with his words. Normally, Lucas was pretty laid-back, but today he seemed years younger and was on fire with his comebacks!

"Fine, I'm not gonna argue with you," Gavin said, waving for the servant to take away the chessboard, a reluctant smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

Lucas, feeling on top of the world, didn't care and glanced over at the door where Alice stood. His eyes lit up, and he quickly called out, "Alice, you're here!"

"Lucas," Alice walked over and squatted beside him, her smile impossible to hide. "You seem really happy today, don't you?"

Lucas glanced at Gavin, feeling a bit embarrassed to admit he was happy but not wanting to lie to her either. He straightened up and, with a hint of pride, said, "It's alright."

Gavin rolled his eyes and headed upstairs.

David didn't want to interrupt their moment, so he went upstairs to tidy up the room, checking if anything needed to be added. He planned to take Alice to the supermarket after dinner to get everything they needed since they were staying overnight.

David never showed much of his personal taste around the house. Whether it was in his villa or the Tudor Mansion, his room was always simple and clean. Besides suits and shirts, his wardrobe only had a few casual clothes. He wasn't into shopping; he preferred staying home, making a cup of coffee, reading a book, and just chilling.

Today, since Alice mentioned it, he couldn't help but look around the room as he entered, thinking that if there were going to be two people here, some decoration might be necessary.

David turned on the light, gently closed the door, and while putting on new sheets, he muttered, "Isn't this a bit too hasty?"

Downstairs, Lucas held Alice's hand tightly and asked, "When I wasn't around, did Juniper or Celeste give you a hard time?"

Alice was about to speak when Lucas sternly said, "Don't lie to me. I'm not senile yet. I know their temperaments and your dad too. So, they really didn't do anything to you?"

Alice hesitated for a moment and then nodded.

Lucas sneered, "And what about your dad? How much do you know about his affairs?"

"What?" Alice was stunned. "Which affair?"

Lucas squinted at her, looked around, and lowered his voice. "How much do you know about your dad having a mistress?"

Alice's eyes widened in shock. How did Lucas know?

Lucas snorted, "He's my son, do you think I don't know? I still have shares in Paragon Industries Group. If I didn't have a few people watching, Marcus could bankrupt the company, and I wouldn't even know!"

Lucas, being older, was too tired to deal with such troubles. Now, he just wanted to see Alice grow up, get married, and have kids. He had no energy for other trivial matters.

Alice touched her cheek and gave an awkward smile. "Well, I accidentally walked in on him cheating that time."

"Walked in on him?" Lucas's eyes widened. "That bastard, doing such things at the company?"

Alice pursed her lips and stayed quiet. She hadn't expected Marcus to be so blatant, flirting with his secretary. If she hadn't walked in, who knows how far he would've gone.

Lucas was livid; Marcus had really let him down!

At dinner, everyone gathered around the table at the Tudor Mansion. Seraphina had been busy all afternoon, whipping up a lavish meal.

Felix held a bowl of soup that was supposed to boost libido, smiling wryly. "Mom, if I drink this, I won't be able to sleep tonight."

Seraphina waved her hand and laughed. "No, it's good for you! If you can't sleep, take a cold shower. That's all because you don't have a girlfriend yet!"

James put down his bowl with a displeased look. "Mom, I have a girlfriend now. Why should I drink this? Chicken soup would be better!" Saying this, he reached for the chicken soup in front of Alice.

Seraphina rolled her eyes. "No, this is specially made for Alice."

James looked to Caleb for help.

Caleb coughed heavily. "Alright, stop messing around and eat."

Feeling a bit sidelined, James reluctantly took back his hand. He felt less favored than before.Meanwhile, David calmly finished the same soup as James, and Seraphina felt satisfied seeing that, while Alice was left dumbfounded.

Alice stammered, "Mrs. Miller, my room..."

"What?" Seraphina raised an eyebrow in confusion.

Before she could finish, David gently took her hand and smiled warmly. "Of course, we'll share a room."

Alice glanced at the empty bowl and swallowed awkwardly.

After dinner, David put on his coat and held Alice's hand, heading out.

Lucas and Gavin exchanged a glance and asked in unison, "Where are you going?"

David replied nonchalantly, "Taking Alice to the supermarket to get some things." As soon as he finished speaking, they had already left the Tudor Mansion.

Gavin crossed his arms, his eyes deep in thought. "Going to the supermarket to buy things..."

Lucas, holding a cup of hot coffee, met Gavin's gaze, and they instantly understood.

Lucas's face darkened, and he patted Gavin's shoulder. "What are you waiting for? Call David and make sure he doesn't buy anything weird!"

"Got it." Gavin fumbled to get his phone.

"Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable..."

Lucas and Gavin fell silent simultaneously.

At that moment, David handed the phone back to Alice, reversing the car as he said, "Not answering the phone? Maybe it's really urgent?"
