Chapter 134

Esme was speechless. All of those were Clara's doing!

After taking a deep breath, Esme still responded with a smile, "I can tell you responsibly, it was not Alice, but Clara!"

Although Esme tried hard to explain, various rumors continued to spread.

Alice also saw these rumors, but she could only remain silent. Some things, the more you explain, the less people believe.

That day, Alice was playing games to relieve her frustration.

David came into the room, gently touched her face, and said, "Stop playing games. Dinner is ready; come down and eat."

The two left the room one after the other and went to the living room. The curtains were tightly closed, almost no light coming through, and the table was set with steaming food. Alice looked around. "Have the reporters left?"

Alice always seemed to have a shadow trailing her, causing unease, but David didn't mind. He replied, "We've managed to get rid of them for now, but someone else might still be lurking around, waiting for a chance to snap a photo."

After all, to get exclusive information, some people would even resort to illegal entry. In the short term, moving back to the Tudor Mansion is a wise choice.

David added, "James has already gone back to the Tudor Mansion."

"I'm going too!" Alice made the decision without hesitation.

If it weren't for that troublemaker James stirring things up, it wouldn't be so awkward. This time, she must have a good talk with him!

After dinner, David and Alice quickly tidied up and headed to the Tudor Mansion. Upon arrival, Alice immediately noticed James lying on the sofa.

Hearing footsteps, James glanced up. With a swift motion, he vaulted over the sofa barefoot and dashed upstairs.

Alice rolled up her sleeves, took off her shoes at the door, and chased after him, shouting, "James Tudor!"

James hurriedly hid in a room and closed the door.

Then, the knocking on the door started incessantly. "Open the door!"

James explained, "Yeah, I let it slip. But David's ex is back—how long did you think you could keep it a secret? Now she knows and won't bother him anymore. I'm helping you!"

Hearing this, Alice suddenly stopped knocking, and David halted in his tracks.

Seeing no movement, James cautiously cracked open the door and saw Alice standing outside, deep in thought.

Then he simply opened the door fully. "You two were engaged anyway. Even though I don't really see you two working out, I'd still prefer you over her. This was going to come out sooner or later, so what's the difference if it's sooner? Now you can walk hand in hand, hug, and kiss openly—no one will say a word!"

Alice and David were at a loss for words.

James raised his chin arrogantly, his eyes full of disdain. "So you should thank me."

Alice was about to speak but stopped, looking dissatisfied. Just as she was reluctantly about to say "thank you," David appeared at the staircase with their luggage.

"Alright, that's enough." David walked over, naturally put his arm around Alice's shoulder, and headed to their room. As they passed James, he smiled and said, "Thank you."

Before James could react, David had already taken Alice into the room, leaving James standing there in a daze. He thought, 'David actually saying thank you to me? Unbelievable! It's such a shame I didn't record it!'

In the room, Alice was about to organize things but was made to sit on the bed by David. He took off his coat and threw it to her, then started putting things from the luggage back in their places.

"You thanked James," Alice said sullenly.

"I should," David smiled. "I wanted to tell everyone about our relationship before. Since we're together, why hide it like we're doing something wrong? Isn't it better to be open and honest?"

David's eyes were gentle. "But I couldn't find the right moment. Bringing it up out of the blue seemed rash, and waiting for others to figure it out would take too long. I just don't have that kind of patience."

Alice looked at David, pretending to bite his finger, but he quickly pulled his hand back.

"We're in a legit relationship, so let's stop sneaking around. Like James said, forget what others think—let's hold hands, date openly, and be ourselves." David propped one hand on the bed, leaned in, and kissed Alice, his other hand caressing her face. After a moment, he moved to her cheek and kissed it lightly before straightening up. "You see, even at home, I have to close the door to do this with you. When can we leave the door open, go from the bedroom to the stairs, and then to the living room?"

Alice was speechless.

Outside the door, James was utterly shocked by what he heard. He thought, 'Oh my God! This is too explosive! They are too wild!'

James turned and left, quickly going online to buy some supplements to send to David.

In the room, David looked at Alice.

To him, there was no need to hide feelings; they weren't something to be ashamed of. When he wanted to express them, he did it in a way that made Alice feel it deeply.

David knelt down, took Alice's hand, and kissed it lightly. With a chuckle in his voice, he said, "I told you, I like girls who take the initiative."

Alice was momentarily stunned, thinking, 'Did David like me even back then?'

"I don't expect you to always take the lead, whether it's kissing, hugging, or anything more intimate. I can handle that. But I do have one condition," David said.
