Chapter 90

"Did you forget?" David's smile carried a hint of teasing as his hand gently slid over her abdomen, stopping at the slightly raised spot. "Who insisted on sleeping with me and even sneaked a peek at my body in the middle of the night?"

Alice was dumbfounded, her mouth opening as she tried to explain.

"Don't you think you should take responsibility?" David slowly lifted the hem of her shirt, his eyes deepening. "Since you've seen my body, shouldn't I appreciate yours too?"

Alice's flat and slightly shy stomach was exposed, covered by a black sports bra.

David's gaze grew intense, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Don't you want to stop me?" David paused, looking at her with a smile, "If I get any lower, it won't just be a simple bath... Are you sure you don't want to call it off?"

Alice bit her lip. "Didn't you say I should take responsibility?"

She wondered, 'Aren't I taking responsibility right now?'

David was stunned for a moment, then chuckled softly, gently lowering her shirt and pulling her into his arms. "I have a request. If you agree, I promise not to cross the line tonight, okay?"

Alice felt a sudden sense of bad foreboding.

Half an hour later, the bathroom door was gently knocked on, and David's mouth curved into a barely noticeable smile. "Are you done?"

In the steamy bathroom, Alice leaned against the sink, examining herself in the mirror. She was wearing David's oversized shirt with the collar slightly open.

Alice thought to herself, 'I must be crazy. Why did I agree to wear this?' It was then that she finally understood why Esme always seemed a bit wary of David. This guy was a wolf in sheep's clothing!

David said, "I'll give you one minute to come out." David returned to the bed, set his phone silent, and placed it on the nightstand. The feeling of not following the rules was quite exhilarating.

A minute later, Alice walked out.

David looked up, and when her long legs came into view, his smile froze for a moment. His gaze slowly moved upward, finally resting on her face. He beckoned her over. "Come here."

Alice tugged at the hem of the shirt as she walked to his side.

David gently wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into his embrace, and inhaled the scent of her neck. "Now, you smell like me."

Alice rolled her eyes at him and said, "Are you crazy?"

"It's called romance," David corrected, "I originally wanted you to try on those clothes in the closet..."

Before he could finish, Alice reached out and pinched his waist.

David gasped and laughed, "But then I thought better of it."

Alice huffed and was about to withdraw her hand when she heard David say with a smile, "I'll buy them for you to wear next time."

She adjusted her position, pulled the blanket over herself, and shook off the petals, covering her legs.

David looked a bit disappointed.

Alice asked, "What's our relationship now?"

David looked down at her. "We've kissed, hugged, and even checked into a room together. Do you think any guardian would do that? Let alone have you walking around in my shirt?"

"So..." Alice pointed at David, then at herself, and asked softly, "Are we a couple?"

"Yes," David kissed the corner of her mouth, "and the kind that will get married in the future."

Alice felt like she was dreaming. She sneaked a few glances at David and suddenly reached out to pinch his cheek. "Does it hurt?"

David smiled helplessly. "What do you think?"

Alice awkwardly withdrew her hand, wondering if she should try it herself, but David had already grabbed her hand.

She looked up at him.

David said, "If you don't believe me, I have a way to prove it. Do you want to try?"

Alice was more cautious after last lesson. She squinted at David. "What way?"

David glanced at the items on the nightstand. Alice followed his gaze, and the next second, like a startled rabbit, she struggled to escape but was firmly held down by him.

David said calmly, "It's free."

Alice's face turned red. "You're a CEO, and you need free stuff? That's ridiculous."

David didn't quite understand. "Why can't a CEO use free stuff?"

He added, "Maybe you'll like it."

Alice kicked David's hand away. "I won't like it! I don't like it!"

David grabbed her flailing foot and insisted, "Should I read it to you?"

Alice lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling. "How do you know there will be the right size?"

After a while, David, holding back his laughter, pulled her back and threw the box on the table into the drawer. He spoke seriously, "You're right. There's nothing suitable for me."

"Alice, you seem to know me very well..." David pinched her slightly red cheek, "Next time, I may ask you to buy me those things."

David held Alice, playing with her fingers. The two of them chatted back and forth, occasionally bickering. Until around ten o'clock, David tucked her into bed, took off his robe, and walked into the bathroom shirtless.

With the sound of running water, Alice crawled to the edge of the bed, curiously opened the drawer, and picked up a few boxes to examine, as if she had discovered a new world, not even sparing the instruction manuals.

After all, she had always been curious but too shy to act. When she saw these things in the supermarket, she couldn't really pick them up and look at them; it was too embarrassing.

Besides, David was her first love. Before him, she had never had such thoughts about anyone. Why would she look at these things?

When David entered the room, Alice had already tidied up and buried herself under the covers, leaving only her hair exposed. She turned her back to David, the light of her phone illuminating her face as she scrolled through the screen.

David shook his wet hair, casually draped a towel over him, and quietly approached the bed. He knelt on one knee and took her phone away, glancing at it casually.

"What are you doing instead of sleeping?" He placed the phone on the nightstand, lifted the blanket, and gently pulled her out. "What are you up to?"

Alice planned to keep her mouth shut.

David smiled. "Do you want to know more about me? Take a shower with me, and the secret will be revealed. The stuff online isn't very reliable."

Alice replied, "David, can you act normal?"

"I'm exhausted." David lazily leaned against the bed, holding her in his arms and gently patting her back. "Finally, I can relax."

Glancing at the time on the phone, David lay down with her in his arms. David said, "It's time to sleep. We have to go home early tomorrow."

After Alice fell asleep, David picked up his phone again and opened a new message. The previously set silent mode had caused him to miss this text, which was from an unknown number.

When he opened it, the words on the screen stunned him: [David, I'm back. I miss you so much. Love, Lila Green.]
