Chapter 123

Alice asked, "What about you?"

As soon as she finished, she glanced at David. He paused for a moment, then turned his head and gave her a look before focusing back on the road, lightly tapping his right hand on the steering wheel without saying a word.

Alice was stunned for a few seconds before she realized what was happening. She mentally scorned him but kept a bright smile on her face and said, "Let's go grab some pizza then!"

David found a pizzeria that looked pretty clean. It was the peak of the night's activities, and the place was buzzing with people who had just finished work and young folks looking for some fun.

David quickly ordered two meals to go at the counter.

After waiting for about ten minutes, the server finally handed the packed pizzas to David.

By the time they got back to the office, it was almost 11 PM. As they stepped out of the elevator and passed by the break room, the door suddenly opened, and Garrett, holding a cup of instant noodles, walked out. He glanced resentfully at David and Alice, his eyes finally resting on the pizza in David's hand, and swallowed hard.

Garrett complained, "Mr. Tudor, you left at nine, and now it's almost eleven."

David glanced at Garrett and said, "Tonight, I'll let you have a late-night snack," before pulling Alice back to the office.

Garrett stood frozen at the break room door, looked down at the instant noodles in his hand, and after a few seconds, threw them into the trash and quickly ordered takeout on his phone.

In the office, David took off his coat and hung it on the sofa, then grabbed some remaining documents to continue working, aiming to finish everything before midnight so he could take Alice home to rest.

Alice put her phone on silent and quietly ate her pizza.

After finishing, Alice picked up her phone and left the office. She happened to see Garrett, who was still eating his late-night snack in the common area.

Hearing footsteps, Garrett turned his head, and Alice blinked and asked, "Want some water?"

Garrett replied, "Yeah, thanks."

Alice filled two disposable cups with water and brought them back. She then handed a cup of water to Garrett.

After that, Alice stood there drinking water and playing on her phone, while Garrett sat silently eating.

After a long silence, Alice couldn't help but ask, "Got a lot of work?"

Garrett was about to shake his head but then thought of the delayed documents and nodded, sighing, "Yeah, so much that my hair's about to fall out!"

Especially since David had been caught up in a relationship lately, the workload had been piling up. But he didn't dare say this in front of Alice unless he wanted to lose his job.

Alice nodded, thought for a moment, and then asked, "Do you always work this late?"

Garrett nodded again, "Yep!"

After this response, seeing that she had no more questions, Garrett quickly finished his remaining food and rushed back to work.

Finally, before midnight, David completed all the work; meanwhile, Garrett received the delayed documents.

David rubbed his tired eyes, took out some eye drops to relieve the strain, and took Alice home.

The next morning, David got a call from Seraphina.

Seraphina asked, "David, are you working late again today?"

David replied, "I might have to. Is there something you need?"

Hearing this, Seraphina said a few words to someone next to her, then said, "Nothing, I just haven't seen you in a while and miss you. I'll come by later; wait for me."

David had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, in the afternoon, Seraphina showed up at his office door, carrying three thermos bottles. She said to David, "One is for Felix, one is for James, and this one is for you. You guys don't take care of yourselves when you're busy. If Alice hadn't called me, I wouldn't have known you were working so late."

As she spoke, she opened the thermos bottle, and a rich aroma filled the air.

She said, "I'm not leaving until I see you finish it."

David looked at the contents of the soup, saying helplessly, "Mom, isn't too much of this bad for me?"

Seraphina gave him a stern look, "Don't make excuses; it's good for you!"

In the past, Seraphina had been cautious in expressing her concern for David, fearing it might affect his mood. However, since he began his relationship with Alice, David had become much more cheerful, with his smiles becoming increasingly frequent. It was a good change.

Helpless, David had no choice but to drink all the soup in front of Seraphina.
