Chapter 49

Alice was on cloud nine.

Watching Juniper's face twist with anger but unable to say a word, and then glancing at Celeste, who looked super pissed and jealous, Alice was having the time of her life. She even thought about ordering more food just to rub it in.

Holding the menu, Alice first checked the prices, then used it to cover her face and whispered to David, "Who's picking up the tab for this?"

She kept her voice low, but David didn't respond, while Marcus and the others heard her.

Before David could answer, Juniper butted in, "Of course, we'll pay for this! Alice, order whatever you want, don't have to us money."

"Yeah, totally," Alice nodded seriously, "I'm gonna be part of the Tudor Family, no need to save money for the Baileys. I'll take the lobster then!"

Juniper was already fuming, and when she heard "lobster," she instantly remembered the time in the private room when she not only lost money but also got slapped and scolded by Marcus. Her face turned dark, and she glared at Alice with a nasty look.

David noticed Juniper's expression and his face turned cold, "Mrs. Bailey, got something to say to Alice?"

Marcus immediately turned to look at Juniper, his eyes warning her, then turned back with a forced smile, "David, don't be mad. I've already explained what happened last time. Let's just forget about it today! So, why are you here anyway?"

The waiter brought in the lobster, and Alice rolled up her sleeves and dug in, not even thinking about offering it to Juniper and the others. When it came to being annoying, she was a pro. She'd been doing it since she was a kid and was used to it.

Seeing Alice use her hands, Celeste put down her fork in disgust, losing her appetite.

David took a few napkins and placed them by Alice's hand, then thoughtfully filled a bowl of soup for her and said, "I'm here to discuss some business with Mr. Marcus."

"Business?" Marcus's eyes lit up. If it weren't for the others present, he would've scooted his chair next to David!

He really wanted to team up with Apex Technologies Group. The Bailey Family's company was big in Aurora City, but to grow, they needed to work with Apex Technologies Group. Plus, the Tudor Family and the Bailey Family had a marriage agreement, provided David's bride was Celeste.

Juniper and Celeste knew Alice was the bride, but Lucas had kept it hush-hush, not wanting to make it public. He couldn't find a reason to team up with Apex Technologies Group.

Now that the chance was here, he couldn't let it slip away.

Before Marcus could say something more, David said, "But before that, I want to ask Miss Bailey something."

As soon as he finished speaking, Alice and Celeste both looked at David. Marcus and Juniper instinctively looked at Alice, then realized David wouldn't call Alice "Miss Bailey," so it had to be Celeste.

Hearing David's tone, Marcus had a bad feeling.

Alice also looked at Celeste.

For a moment, everyone's eyes in the room were on Celeste, making her super nervous.

"Mr. Tudor, what is it?" Celeste squirmed in her seat, wanting to look at David but too scared to meet his eyes.

"Why’d you go to Ivywood University?" David asked.

Marcus was fuming inside. 'So, they didn't remember what I said before? Are they trying to piss off David and the Tudor Family completely? Do they think Lucas's friendship with Gavin will save them after ticking off the Tudors?'

Juniper quickly grabbed Celeste's hand and said, "David, don’t get the wrong idea. I sent Celeste to Ivywood to check on Alice, so we could update Lucas and keep him from worrying."

Juniper thought, 'Using Lucas as an excuse, I'd say David probably won’t push it.'

"Yeah!" Celeste quickly chimed in, "I just went to check on Alice, nothing else. I left right after!"

Alice thought, 'So that red Ferrari at the school gate was Celeste's. But I don’t buy their excuse. If Lucas wants to know how I’m doing, I could visit him in the nursing home. Plus, he can call the school to ask Oliver about my situation and grades. No need for them to visit.'

David nodded like he got it.

Just as Juniper and Celeste were about to relax, David asked again, "If it was just to visit Ivywood, I wouldn’t be asking Miss Bailey now. I’m curious, what did Miss Bailey mean by telling Esme about Alice’s background?"

Celeste was stunned.

Juniper didn’t know about this, but seeing Celeste’s face, she immediately got it and cursed her in her mind. 'How many times have I told her not to piss off David during this critical time, but she didn’t listen! Now David’s here demanding answers. What do we do now? If Lucas finds out, we’re screwed!'

"What do you mean?" Alice looked at David, then at Celeste, "You went to see Esme?"

"I..." Celeste was panicking.

Before Celeste could finish, Alice tossed the lobster aside, wiped her hands with a napkin, leaned back in her chair, and said, "What did you mean by telling Esme about my background? What, did you tell her I’m an illegitimate child so she’d stay away from me ?"

That was exactly what Celeste thought, but she’d never admit it when Alice called her out in public.

"Alice, what are you talking about?" Juniper frowned and questioned Alice, "Celeste is your sister. How can you say that about her!"

In the past, when Juniper got mad and scolded Alice, she’d either pretend to be deaf and dumb and take it or smile and walk away after the scolding. She’d never argue with Juniper.

Juniper thought today would be the same. With Marcus and David present, Alice wouldn’t want David to see her disrespecting her elders, so she wouldn’t argue.

But Juniper never expected Alice to not only argue but also leave her speechless.

"I’m an illegitimate child. Celeste is not my sister."
