Chapter 53

Alice was pretty sure David already knew she ditched class. The thought of going home to face his lecture made her want to crawl under a rock. Just thinking about it gave her a headache.

David's way of teaching her a lesson was not hitting or blaming. He just talked to her seriously. Every time, she had no way to argue back. He never hit or yelled at her, so what could she do? Throw a fit and wrestle with him?

Alice sniffled and had already thought of what to say on her way back.

Just then, a car honked twice from the side of the road. Alice instinctively turned her head to see a black car parked by the curb. The window rolled down, revealing Felix's face.

Felix grinned at Alice and said, "Alice, playing hooky?"

If it were David who caught her skipping, she wouldn't even blush. But now it was Felix. His teasing made her so embarrassed that her face turned bright red.

Felix saw Alice standing there awkwardly, her cheeks flushed.

"Alice, hop in." Felix said.

After Alice got in, Felix started the car and merged into traffic.

Soft music played inside the car. Alice fastened her seatbelt, placed her bag on her lap, and turned to Felix, asking, "Felix, where are you headed?"

"A blind date," Felix sighed as he mentioned it, "So I left work early to meet the person."

Alice looked exasperated.

Alice thought, 'See, whether you're an ordinary person or from a wealthy family, when you reach a certain age, you're pushed into blind dates.'

As she was pondering this, Alice suddenly realized and asked, "Is it cool to bring me along?" Bringing a sister to a blind date, really?

Felix glanced at Alice, a slight smile on his lips. "I think it's quite appropriate."

When they arrived at the restaurant and saw Felix's date, Alice understood why Felix said it was appropriate.

The woman standing across from them wore a red dress that accentuated her figure, looking very sexy. Her slightly curled hair draped over her chest, and her light makeup exuded a gentle and graceful aura.

In contrast, Alice wore a denim jacket, black skinny jeans, and sneakers, giving off a cool girl vibe. She didn't match Felix, nor did she fit in with the luxurious decorations of the restaurant.

If she didn't know she was wealthy, she would have thought she was in the wrong place, like a poor girl stepping into high society.

Felix gently guided Alice to their reserved table.

The woman glanced at Alice from head to toe, then lowered her eyes and opened the menu, a slight smile on her red lips.

Alice's clothes weren't branded; they were cheap. She wore no makeup, just eyebrows and lipstick. But what made the woman jealous was that Alice's skin looked great even without makeup.

"Mr. Tudor, is this your sister? She's quite cute." The woman asked.

Alice shrank back against the wall, then looked at Felix.

Honestly, she didn't want to get involved in this silent battle. She was just a poor, weak, and helpless girl whose biggest goal was to win over David. She didn't dare think about anything else.

"No," Felix smiled. "I only have two younger brothers, no sister."

The woman's smile froze for a sec, then she tried to play it cool. "If she's not your sister, then who is she?"

Felix grinned and shot back, "You really don't know?"

The woman gripped the menu tighter.

'If I knew, would I be guessing like this? Isn't today supposed to be my blind date with Felix? Why bring a girl along?' she thought.

Suddenly, Felix sighed, his smile fading a bit. "She's actually my girlfriend."

Alice's eyes nearly popped out of her head!

"It's just that I upset her recently, and she broke up with me for a week," Felix added.

'Felix is really good at this,' Alice thought.

Felix continued like he was in his own world, "Amara, I believe you understand why I brought her today. I have someone I like, but it's inconvenient to tell my parents since we're still dating. My mother always thought I was single, so she arranged this blind date. I hope you don't mind."

Amara Adams had crumpled the menu, her delicate makeup unable to hide her displeasure.

"If Miss Adams doesn't mind..." Felix started to say, but Amara, already fuming, stood up, grabbed her purse, and stormed out without a word.

Alice looked at Felix and, after a moment of silence, said, "Felix, you're ruthless."

Felix smiled, "Am I? Thanks for the compliment, Alice."

Alice suddenly missed David. Although he always lectured her, he never did it with a smile. Felix's smile made her a bit scared.

Felix got up and sat across from her, ignoring the crumpled menu. He called the waiter, ordered a few dishes, and asked Alice, "Alice, what do you want?"

Alice glanced at the menu and ordered a few of her favorite dishes and a watermelon juice.

In less than five minutes, Felix had resolved the blind date and was in a good mood. He asked Alice about her daily life.

"How have you been getting along with David lately?" Felix asked.

"Okay, I guess." Lately, she felt he was acting strange, like he was avoiding her but not really.

Felix smiled at Alice. "David hasn't done anything to you?"

Thinking about the phone call from a few weeks ago, Felix was curious if David had followed his advice to comfort Alice.

"What could he do?" Alice asked back.

She wished David would do something to her, but he never did. The most he did was teasing her verbally.

Felix shook his head, "Nothing."

If Alice didn't know, then he probably hadn't done anything.

Thinking about it, Felix couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

He wasn't worried about James finding a girlfriend, but he was concerned about what kind of girlfriend James would find.

As for David, he was worried he wouldn't find a girlfriend, but also thought he was fine living alone.

Just then, David called.

Alice answered without thinking.

On the phone, David sounded a bit angry. He asked, "Where are you?"

Alice glanced at Felix. Felix noticed her look and mouthed silently, "David?"

Alice nodded and told David on the phone, "I'm having dinner with Felix."

There was silence on the other end.

Alice looked at her phone screen, almost thinking she had hung up.

"David?" Alice asked.

"So you left me to eat alone at home?" David asked coldly.
