Chapter 92

Just as Dylan was about to say something, a taxi screeched to a halt, and a woman stepped out as the door swung open. He glanced over and was instantly floored.

Lila quickly paid the driver, strutted over to David in her high heels, and complained, "David, why didn't you wait for me? What's the rush? What's going on?" Then she noticed Dylan and exclaimed, "Dylan?"

Dylan's face darkened. Ignoring Lila, he locked eyes with David, his gaze full of doubt and anger. "David, you better explain this! What's going on? Why is Lila here? Are you still in touch with her?"

David met Dylan's gaze but didn't say a word. Instead, he looked at Alice. Alice curiously sized up the woman who called her boyfriend by his first name, giving her a thorough once-over.

Feeling scrutinized, Lila felt uncomfortable, thinking this girl was way too rude. Wasn't it a bit much to stare like that on a first meeting?

Esme gasped, "Lila."

Lila was David's ex-girlfriend.

Alice raised an eyebrow, crossed her arms, and shifted her gaze from Lila to David, squinting slightly with a half-smile. "Yesterday you were all lovey-dovey, and today you break up with me. You're such a jerk."

Simon thought to himself, 'What the hell are they talking about?'

Dylan grabbed David and asked in horror, "What did you do to Alice? Oh my God! David, are you even human?"

Esme clutched Alice's shoulder, looking desperate. "You... you didn't really sleep with him, did you? No way! I won't allow it!"

Esme tried to squeeze out tears, angrily pointing at David. "He's so much older, and you're not even of legal age yet! How could you let him... This is so improper."

Halfway through, Esme suddenly remembered that David and Alice were engaged, technically making their relationship legitimate. She paused, her anger momentarily faltering.

David, guessing Esme's thoughts, reached out to pull Alice to his side, intending to explain. but Alice pushed him away in disgust. "I can smell another woman's perfume on you. Stay away from me!"

David pursed his lips and resolutely pulled her back. "It's not appropriate to undress on the street. I'll wash it off when we get home."

Dylan glanced at the complex expression on Lila's face. Although he didn't want to see her, remembering the pain David had suffered because of her, he felt a mix of emotions.

Dylan asked, "Lila, have you had enough fun abroad and decided to come back?"

Lila heard the sarcasm in Dylan's words and smiled lightly, unconcerned. "This is my hometown. Why can't I come back? Besides, I didn't come back for you, Dylan. Is it fun to talk like this?"

"Am I being harsh?" Dylan laughed. He had been holding back his temper for a long time today. First, Simon was almost beaten up. Second, there was some jerk's woman. Third, now was Lila, who almost got David killed in a car accident!

"Lila, if you had any sense, you wouldn't be reaching out to David! You and David are done. You came back and went straight to him. Don't you get that I'm trying to be considerate here?" Dylan pointed to Alice and introduced her to Lila, "She might be young and a bit fiery, but she's David's official girlfriend."

Lila's face froze, and she bit her lip in silence. Seeing David's attitude towards this girl, she had already had a bad feeling.

David never showed such gentleness to any woman. Even when they were dating, David never displayed such a strong sense of possession. She had thought that this was just David, who was cold and distant, not easily showing emotions. Turned out she was wrong. He did have emotions, just not for her.

Alice's mouth twitched. "Who are you calling fiery?"

Dylan glanced at her, then at the tearful Esme, and another thought crossed his mind, 'Why are college girls so dumb these days?'

Esme noticed Dylan's gaze and immediately glared back, waving her fist. "What are you looking at! Believe it or not, I'll punch you!"

Dylan thought, 'Definitely a bad temper.'

Alice looked at the silent Lila, feeling both jealous and envious. Then she examined herself and suddenly felt she really wasn't as good as her. Lila had a perfect figure; she was very sexy, and with that gentle face, even Alice would be moved.

A woman who was mature, intellectual andsexy—what man wouldn't be attracted?

Looking at herself again, Alice saw someone with a bad temper, who loved making trouble, and whose figure wasn't as good as Lila's. She was a bit stunned. Fine, she decided to drink more milk every day from now on, striving to surpass his ex-girlfriend in some aspects.

She stared at Lila, and David's low voice echoed in her ear, "Your figure is more outstanding than hers."

Ever since he confessed, David had become bolder. In broad daylight, he was openly whispering and flirting with her. In the past, he would avoid her like the plague, even at the slightest hint of intimacy.

Alice mimicked Esme's expressionless face, waved her hand coldly, and said, "No more words, or don't blame me for being rude."

David's lips curled into a doting smile. "I am always ready for your punches."

On the side, Lila watched her ex-boyfriend ignore her existence and flirt with another girl. Her heart felt like it was weighed down with a heavy stone, making her feel suffocated. Her eyes reddened, and her nose tingled. She bit her lower lip hard, trying to keep herself from losing control and running to question David how he could treat her like this!

After all, she had confessed the reason for their breakup, which was beyond her control. For the past three years, she had missed him day and night. How could he let go of the past and stay close with someone else while abandoning her alone?
