Chapter 138
David thought it could wait before they got intimate. He then took Alice to a restaurant for dinner. After their meal, they walked hand in hand down the street like any other couple. When they passed a bakery, Alice gently pulled on David's arm, prompting them to stop.
"Black Forest cake," she said, pointing at the cake in the display case.
David glanced at her stomach, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Didn't you eat enough?"
Alice rolled her eyes, showing her displeasure. "Can't I have dessert?"
"Alright," David chuckled and said to the server, "One Black Forest cake, please."
While waiting for the server to pack the cake, Alice suddenly leaned close to David's ear and whispered, "Do you remember you bought me this cake before to cheer me up?"
"What do you mean?" David frowned. "Didn't you enjoy it back then?"
"Do you remember how I responded?" Alice feigned anger and repeated her earlier words, "Other guys comfort their girlfriends with designer bags or jewelry, and the wealthier ones even give houses. And what did I get? Just a twelve-dollar cake!"
David coughed awkwardly. "At that time, we hadn't confirmed our relationship yet, so those things didn't seem appropriate."
"And now?" Alice asked.
Taking the cake box, David paid the bill and walked out with Alice. "Now that we're together, what else do you need?"
This question left Alice momentarily speechless, so she said, "Women always have a touch of vanity; you wouldn't get it."
David turned to her and replied with a smile. "There's something more valuable than designer bags right in front of you, enough to make you proud. Doesn't that satisfy your vanity, sweetie?"
That actually made some sense.
As they walked, David bought a particularly beautiful balloon from a street vendor and tied it to Alice's bag.
"What's this for?" Alice asked, puzzled by the colorful and uniquely shaped balloon.
"They say that if you get lost in a crowd, it's easier to spot you," he explained.
The square wasn't crowded—just some kids playing by the fountain and a few couples. With only a few dozen people around, getting lost was impossible!
They wandered around a bit more, bought some daily necessities, and then went home.
Seraphina made some drinks, and as soon as they got home, the housekeeper served them this delicious treat. "This was made by Mrs. Tudor herself, everyone says it's delicious."
After dinner, cake, and a bunch of drinks, Alice felt like her stomach was about to burst when they got back to their room. She paced around the bedroom for a while until she felt a bit better.
David's room at the Tudor Villa only had a basic laptop, so he couldn't play any big games. He had to settle for watching movies, even though he really wanted to game.
When David came out of the bathroom, Alice quickly got up and looked at him expectantly. "When can we move back?"
"After your birthday," he paused and then teased, "Why? Can't wait to have some alone time with me?"
"Of course not!" she immediately retorted, "I just miss my gaming setup; the computer here is terrible." As soon as she finished speaking, the room fell silent.
David's face darkened, but then he threw the towel aside and pulled her close, "Am I less interesting than an old computer?"
Alice was stunned. "Well, how should I put this? How about we try it today?"
After a few seconds of silence, David suddenly picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.
About an hour later, Alice lay limply on the bed, her wet hair spread out behind her, wearing pajamas, and her arms weakly resting on the edge of the bed. On the other side, David carefully dried her hair with a hairdryer. "Was it fun?"
She just tiredly glanced at David's seemingly gentle but actually crafty expression and didn't want to discuss the matter any further.
Finally, the lights were set to a cozy mode, and David lay beside her, gently covering her with the blanket. "It's still early, but I have to get up early for work tomorrow to support the family, so I can't stay up all night with you."
Listening to David's lazy voice, Alice remembered how he teased her when she asked to stop earlier, and she felt a bit unbalanced.
"How about we wait until we're married to have sex?" she finally said.
David was stunned. "Does that mean I have to endure for another three years? That's too much, isn't it?"
