Chapter 120
Lila quickly pulled her hand back as Alice kept opening the door.
Inside the restaurant, Ophelia was already waiting at the table. When she saw them come in, she waved excitedly.
Esme was lounging on the sofa, chugging a glass of water, looking totally shocked.
Esme grumbled, "What are the odds? We just come here for a meal and we run into... Aurora City is huge, yet we still bump into her."
Ophelia, curious, asked, "Who did you run into?"
Esme almost blurted out "David's..." but caught herself and changed the subject with a smile, "So, what's good here? You work here, so you must know the best dishes. Alice and I don't come here often, so we're kinda clueless."
Ophelia seriously recommended a bunch of popular dishes. Seeing this, Esme quickly stopped her. "Hold up, there are only three of us. Can we really eat all that?"
Ophelia looked a bit embarrassed. "I just wanted you to try the best stuff."
Esme found her quite adorable, much like Alice. Alice was tough on the outside but soft on the inside, and Ophelia was straightforward and pure.
Esme said, "Order less, it's wasteful if we can't finish. Take this one off, and let's add a juice instead."
Ophelia nodded, blushing, and called the waiter. The waiter took the menu and smiled. "Don't worry. I'll bring it to you quietly later... don't tell the manager."
Meanwhile, Lila sat down and started to daydream. Her friend noticed and asked, "Lila, what's on your mind? Still thinking about David?"
Lila gave a bitter smile, "It's over between us now."
Her friend didn't buy it, "You two were perfect together. I still remember how much he liked you."
Lila lowered her head and was silent for a moment. "I went to see him, but he already has a girlfriend."
Her friend exclaimed, "Really? How do you know? No one mentioned this in the group."
Lila replied, "It was the girl we just ran into at the door."
Her friend suddenly got it, asking, "You mean the one in designer clothes?"
"Yeah," Lila's voice was a bit low.
"Then you should let it go," her friend advised, "Since he already has a girlfriend, don't dwell on it."
Lila looked serious but still unwilling to accept the truth. Deep down, she knew she didn't want to give up on David.
Seeing Lila's gloomy face, her friend wisely chose not to continue the topic.
They had come out to chat and relax, to reminisce over the past few years, but they unexpectedly ran into David's current girlfriend.
Her friend was inwardly distressed. On one hand, she genuinely hoped Lila and David could get back together, but since David already had a girlfriend, it wouldn't be right to encourage Lila to pursue him. Although she didn't mention it, seeing Lila's determination, it seemed she wouldn't easily give up on David.
Lila still loved David, which was why she gave up a great opportunity abroad to come back and find him. She wanted to be with David, to marry him, and spend the rest of her life with him!
How could her relationship with David be surpassed by a newcomer like Alice!? They were so close to getting married; such deep feelings couldn't be easily matched!
Meanwhile, Alice, Esme, and Ophelia were happily eating dinner. Once all the dishes were served, Esme took a photo and posted it on Feed, writing: [Starry Sky Restaurant, dinner with friends]
Starry Sky Restaurant was super popular now, often requiring long waits during meal times. The owner was even thinking about converting the second floor into a dining area to fit more guests.
"We can eat on the second floor next time. The view is great, and it's so romantic to enjoy the night scenery while eating," Esme suggested.
"Romantic, with girls?" Alice immediately retorted, "Have you been single so long that you don't even understand this?"
Esme pouted. "You're the one who's good at dating. But this is girl-to-girl romance..." Glancing at Alice, she added, "Couples wouldn't understand."
Being single only made Esme more confident.
Alice put down her phone, propped her chin up, and curiously asked, "Esme, have you ever had a boyfriend?"
