Chapter 109
David could feel the veins in his temple starting to throb. He wasn't even thirty yet!
"I got it!" Alice suddenly exclaimed, "The stock market!"
David let out a sigh.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Alice lowered her head and took a seat behind him. Dinner was quite the spread. Throughout the meal, she debated whether to ask the question that had been nagging at her.
Finally, Alice blurted out, "David, have you ever cooked for Lila?"
David glanced at her and replied flatly, "I didn't know how to cook before college." In other words, he had never cooked for Lila.
With a smile, David added, "Alice, I grew up with a silver spoon in my mouth. I never had to cook; there was always someone to whip up something delicious for me."
Alice forced a smile. "So, you were quite the catch, huh?"
David chuckled. "Who in the Tudor Family isn't? With our status, even if it's not genuine affection, being popular is kind of a given."
During his college years, plenty of girls like Lila had chased after him, but he always turned them down politely. There were guys who, feeling popular, would boss around the girls who liked them and threaten to break up if they didn't comply.
David still remembered someone once saying, "I can flirt with girls I don't like, but when it comes to the ones I do like, I can't."
Though he didn't know the exact methods of "flirting," David's actions towards Alice were driven by genuine feelings. To him, this affection was pure and passionate.
David chuckled lightly. "If you decide not to eat my cooking because of this, I have nothing more to say."
Alice rolled her eyes at him. "Do you think I'm that petty? I was just curious. Everyone has a past, and dwelling on such trivial matters will only make me feel bad."
David got up to clear the plates and put them in the sink. "Go upstairs and change your clothes. I'll take you out for a walk."
Not knowing where David was taking her, Alice still went to grab a jacket and waited for him to come down after changing.
A moment later, David came out. The destination was a swanky entertainment venue, with a lobby decked out in gold and red decorations, and a sparkling crystal chandelier overhead. They went up the spiral staircase to the third floor, where two tall and handsome bodyguards stood at the entrance. They stopped the waitstaff and signaled for David and Alice to pass through.
Inside, they could hear the sound of billiards. Dylan was holding a cue and mocking his opponent Wesley, "Wesley, you suck!"
Wesley, wearing a black shirt with sleeves rolled up to his elbows, sneered and, with a single stroke, the white ball was potted into the pocket where the red ball was.
"Dylan, the joke is on you," Wesley said calmly. Dylan was speechless and could only helplessly go get some juice. He then noticed David and Alice entering and waved. "You guys here too?"
This was Wesley's first time seeing the famous Alice, David's fiancée, and he couldn't help but take a few extra glances. Alice and David both said in unison, "What are you staring at?"
Feeling awkward being questioned at the same time, Wesley quickly looked away. "David, you have the nerve to say that. You didn't even tell me you had a fiancée until you came to consult me!"
Hearing this, Dylan almost spat out his juice. "Consult? A psychologist?" He wondered if Alice had driven David nuts.
Dylan moved closer, his tone a bit worried, "Seriously, why did you go for a psychological consultation? Did Alice totally mess with your head?"
David glanced at him and responded flatly, "Do you know why you're still single?"
Dylan shook his head.
David explained, "Because your emotional intelligence is way too low."
When David returned to Alice's side, he felt someone staring at them. Without turning around, he knew it was Wesley.
Wesley lazily lay on the sofa, sipping wine and sizing up Alice, comparing her to his ex, Lila. In terms of looks and figures, both had their strengths. But in his impression, David preferred mature and dignified types, so why did he choose such a cute and coquettish girl? Thinking this, his expression suddenly became serious.
At this moment, David had already blocked Wesley's view and said to Alice in the backlight, "There are lots of fun things to do here. Feel free to explore. We've booked the entire third floor for tonight, so there won't be any other guests."
"What about you?" Besides him, there was no one else to keep her company here!
David raised an eyebrow and gently suggested, "If you want, how about joining me for a sauna to relax?"
Alice unhesitatingly reached out and gently pushed his head back. "No, thanks, I don't want to get that close to you."
Seeing this, David laughed heartily. He then gently kissed Alice's wrist and, with a hint of disappointment, said, "Alright, as long as you're happy."
Wesley, sitting not far away, was shocked by this scene. Dylan patted his shoulder and sighed, "Don't be surprised. People in love are like this!"
Wesley twisted his stiff neck, shook off Dylan's hand, and pointed incredulously at David, who was constantly exuding hormones. "I've known him for so many years and never seen him like this. Are you sure there's nothing wrong with his brain?"
Dylan smirked, crossing his arms. "You're a psychologist. Can't you tell if David has a problem?"
If he could diagnose psychological issues just by looking, he would have switched careers to be a fortune teller long ago!
"Oh, I forgot to tell you something." Dylan lazily sat on the single sofa next to Wesley and said, "Lila is back."
Wesley, who had just picked up his wine glass, was stunned by this news. It took him a long time to react. He twisted his neck again and looked at Dylan with a complicated expression. "Are you sure it's Lila?"
