Chapter 143

On Alice's birthday, the Tudor family was bustling with excitement, as if they were celebrating a festival. A red carpet was laid from the entrance to the hall, the walls were adorned with balloons and streamers, and the lounge area was stocked with drinks and snacks, with all public areas open. Bamboo chairs were set up on the open-air balcony, and the sunlight streaming in made it especially warm.

Friends close to the Tudor family came with their children to congratulate her. Everyone knew what was going on but kept it to themselves, waiting to give a surprise.

Alice stood on the second floor in a dress, her hand resting on the railing, looking at the crowd below, feeling a bit overwhelmed. She kept hearing a jingling sound by her ear and reached to touch the accessory behind her ear, realizing it was a shiny silver headband.

She had never worn such jewelry before, and she had chosen this spaghetti strap dress specifically to cover the scars on her calves. The dress was not long, cream-colored, with a layer of thin gauze at the hem. Since the party hadn't started yet, she was wearing slippers, and her crystal-like high heels were left in the room.

"My birthday was never this grand," a slightly jealous voice sounded beside her.

Alice shrugged, "Are you envious?"

James scoffed, "Envious of what? Although my birthday wasn't this grand, it wasn't much less. Besides, you can never have too much money. Just remember to give me some money in the future."

Alice rolled her eyes at him. James was wearing a burgundy suit, with the collar open and his bangs casually hanging down, looking rebellious.

"Today is my birthday, aren't you stealing my thunder?" Alice raised an eyebrow and asked.

James replied with a smile, "I can't be low-key, you have to forgive me. Felix is wearing blue, guess what David is wearing?"

"Black," Alice said calmly.

Sure enough, David always wore a black suit.

At this moment, Seraphina came upstairs, saw the two chatting, and hurriedly urged them to entertain the guests. James was sent away, and Seraphina took Alice back to the room to change her shoes and touch up her makeup, then led her downstairs to greet the guests. Along the way, Alice received quite a bit of cash gifts.

"Seraphina, when is my grandpa coming?"

Seraphina replied, "Don't worry, Gavin went to pick him up personally. There might be traffic, so wait a bit. You can go find David to rest for now."

The three brothers were busy upstairs, and except for David, Felix and James were having a hard time coping.

A relative said to Felix, "David has a girlfriend, why are you still single?"

Another asked James, "David has a partner, you should find a girlfriend too."

David was only engaged, why were they being rushed like this?

When Alice walked over and saw this scene, she secretly cursed "rascal" and stuffed all the cash gifts into David's pocket.

David smiled and said, "This was meant for you, why put it in my pocket?"

Alice patted the sides of her dress, "I don't have pockets."

David sighed helplessly and hugged her, "Alright, you always have a reason."

Alice felt embarrassed to be too intimate in front of everyone, so she just crossed her arms and leaned on David's shoulder, whispering, "My feet hurt."

David looked down, "Mom chose nice shoes."

"I hardly ever wear high heels, you can only say that because you haven't worn such shoes," Alice glared at him.

David smiled and said, "You'll be in pain for many days when we get married."

Then he pulled Alice back to the room. Before she could ask, she was pressed onto the bed, followed by a passionate moment. After a long time, David helped her take off the high heels and gently hugged her.

"Take this opportunity to rest for a while, you still have to socialize later. I'll find time to buy you a pair of comfortable shoes." He saw her heels were red and felt distressed.

Alice snuggled in his arms, closing her eyes to enjoy the tenderness.

Suddenly, there was a rough knock on the door, and Esme's voice came, "Alice, are you in there? You can't do that during the day, come out quickly, Seraphina is looking for you!"

David's face darkened, "You should avoid her in the future."

Alice looked at him speechlessly. After tidying up, she opened the door, and Esme stared at them, "Don't worry, there's plenty of time in the future!"

David looked gloomy, and Alice could only smile to show she understood.
