Chapter 48
Wesley chucked the form on the ground and stood up, "You here to get your ass kicked?"
Wesley thought, 'Dude says he won't marry his fiancée but then says he might like her. Seriously, is he asking for a beating?'
"I'm being real with you. I need help," David said.
Wesley took a deep breath and sat back down. "Alright, you need help, huh? How do you want me to help? You want me to figure out if you really like your fiancée or if it's just some fantasy?"
David stayed quiet.
Wesley smirked, "It's easy. Go home, hug your fiancée, and kiss her. If your heart races, you like her. Done. Now get out, I got another patient."
David said, "A racing heart from a kiss doesn't mean you like someone. Could be asthma from shortness of breath."
Wesley snapped, "Do you have asthma? You're just here to mess with me, right? I'm not some love guru; I'm a psychologist! Do you even know what a psychologist is? Why are you bringing your love drama to a psychologist?"
David got tossed out of the office.
Wesley was fuming. After cooling down a bit, he called Dylan.
Dylan was kinda surprised to get Wesley's call.
He knew Wesley was a shrink in Aurora City, but since he wasn't sick and was busy with work and social stuff, he hadn't bothered to catch up. Didn't expect Wesley to hit him up.
Dylan answered with a grin, ready to crack some jokes, but Wesley started yelling right away.
"Is David out of his damn mind?" Wesley asked.
Dylan shot back, "I think you're the one who's lost it!"
Wesley took a few deep breaths. "I know if I'm crazy or not, but David's clueless! Dylan, I'm a psychologist. You know? David actually came to me, a psychologist, for relationship advice!"
"What?" Dylan was stunned, "David went to see you?"
Wesley snapped, "Is that what you're focusing on?"
"No, hold up." Dylan sat up straight, sounding serious. "Wesley, you said David came to you for relationship advice? About Alice?"
"What?" Wesley was confused. "I don't know any Alice. He just said he's not sure if he's into his fiancée. Can you believe that?"
Before he could finish, the call cut off.
Wesley stared at his phone, eyes wide, then slammed it face down on the table and poured himself two glasses of cold water to cool off.
Wesley thought, 'They're both nuts!'
On the other end, Dylan covered his mouth, shocked and speechless.
Dylan wondered, 'David went to see a shrink because of Alice. Is this good or bad? Should I tell Gavin? But I never thought David would fall for Alice. Compared to Lila Green, Alice has nothing special. What does David see in her?'
Dylan let out a long sigh and flopped onto the couch, still in shock.
If David liked a mature, smart woman, he wouldn't be so surprised. But David liked a 19-year-old troublemaker with a bad temper. He just couldn't wrap his head around it.
So, Dylan had a pretty clear picture of his ideal woman. She had to be well-behaved, sensible, not a total eyesore, and didn't need to have a killer body. As long as she didn't stress him out like Simon did, he'd be into her.
Thinking this, Dylan got up and shot a message to Simon.
Dylan: [Why the hell do you like Alice?]
Simon was so shocked by the message that he almost drove his car into a river.
Simon: [What the hell's gotten into you?]
Dylan: [Just answer me! Why do you like Alice? There’s gotta be something about her, right?]
Simon: [Do you really need a list of reasons to like someone? No wonder you're still single.]
Dylan laughed angrily and called Simon to chew him out, "I'm single because of you! All I do is work and worry about you. When do I have time to date? You should think about that!"
Simon, scratched his nose awkwardly, not feeling at all that Dylan's being single was his fault.
Simon said, "Dylan, why are you suddenly asking about Alice?"
Dylan stammered, dodging the question. "I'm asking you to list her good qualities, not her flaws. Why are you hesitating? Or does she have no good qualities at all? Then why do you like her?"
Simon cursed silently, "Dylan, you know I like her. Since I like her, even her flaws become good qualities in my eyes!"
Dylan thought, 'Damn it! Could it be that in David's eyes, fighting and causing trouble are what attract him to Alice?'
"Dylan, are you out of your mind?" Simon glanced at his phone, put it back in his pocket, and continued playing his game.
Alice got a text from David and bolted out of the classroom, making Declan so mad he wanted to call her guardian. But thinking about Alice's guardian, he decided against it.
At the school gate, Alice saw David's car and immediately ran over to hop in.
"What's up?" Alice asked.
David saw Alice panting, her hair blown back, revealing her smooth forehead. He reached out to brush it down and tidied up other parts of her hair, saying, "I made a dinner reservation with Marcus. We're going together."
"What?" Alice was stunned.
Alice wondered, 'Why would David suddenly make a dinner reservation with Marcus? And why bring me along?'
When Alice arrived at the restaurant and saw who was in the private room, she instinctively glanced at David beside her and suddenly got it.
Celeste was excited to see David, but the next second, she was pissed when she saw Alice.
Juniper held Celeste back and smiled at David and Alice, "You're here. Come in, the food's getting cold."
David led Alice in and sat down.
"Sorry, I was late picking up Alice." His tone made it sound like it was no big deal.
But to Celeste, it was anything but normal.
She clenched her fists tightly, her eyes reddening. Her admiring gaze lingered on David for a moment and then shifted to Alice, filled with hatred, wishing she would just drop dead!
Alice ignored Celeste's glare, picked up a fork, and started eating, not waiting for Marcus and Juniper to say anything.
Juniper's face immediately darkened.
At that moment, David picked up a water pitcher from the side cart, poured a glass of water, and placed it in front of Alice. "Sorry, Alice was hungry. Let's talk this while eating."
