Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Edna
After making my choice, I walked towards Jelena. She and her father were chained but the chains around them was loose. It gave them ample space.
The weapon I chose was an hybrid between a knife and a zapper. I pressed the knife against Jelena's skin.
The anger that came into existence after witnessing the rude way she spoke to Killian combined with the negative emotions from my past experiences. Those emotions formed a frightening mental beast.
Jelena’s skin was sliced open and blood spilled out of the wound. A warped sound left her lips.
“You don't think the King would protect you forever, do you? If you know what is best for you, you will stop what you are doing right now.” Jelena's father threatened.
I looked at him with amusement in my eyes.
Killian was staring at him too.
Killian clicked his tongue, “Are you trying to threaten my queen in my presence? What do you think you can do to her? It seems I had given you too much power. Now, you think you can speak as you want or act as you want. It is my fault and I would correct this blunder very soon.”
“Your majesty, my daughter did something wrong but it was just a mistake. All these years, we have been serving you. We have never done something against your will and commands. Why are you acting like this? You are breaking off relationships because of a measly love.” Jelena's father said.
“I don't want to keep going around in a circle because of the same topic. You did something wrong, own up to it and accept your punishment. Besides, you are talking about you followed my exact will and rules when we both know that is a lie. You think I don't know the little moves you and the rest of the council do because I have been too calm these past few years?” Killian sneered.
“Your majesty.” Jelena called.
“Don't try to call me. You knew there were risks behind those actions you did. Stop acting like this and unintentional mistake. If you are trying to tell me otherwise, we both know that is a lie. I don't know what is so hard in accepting my love interest. It is not like you would be the one that will spend the rest of your life with her. Or, are you interested in the power that comes with being my queen? I don't know why you are so fixated that you tried to attack who I sought to protect.” Killian said.
“You are heartless, Killian. I had invested my all into serving you because of my emotions and this is what you used to repay me. Besides, what is wrong with aspiring to be your queen? What is wrong with wanting power? You yourself wanted power to change your fate. That is why you ascended the throne. Why is it wrong when I tried to do the same?” Jelena questioned.
I didn't move the torture device in my hand.
Seeing how the father and daughter tried to get themselves out of this mess was a funny to see.
I glanced at Killian.
His eyes hid dark storms. I knew he wasn't willing to let this father and daughter duo go.
Jelena's father didn't look like the kind of person that loved to bow down to authority. This mistake was a great way to cut a budding problem off.
“First, I didn't tell you to get your emotions involved. I don't like you and I can't force myself to like you. There's nothing wrong with wanting power but you should also know which kind of power you should attempt to gobble up. Besides, giving your all is the natural thing to do as a subject under a monarch. Stop trying to paint it to be something else.” Killian responded.
“Jelena, stop talking.” Jelena’s father instructed.
“Thank you for taking those words out of my mouth.” Killian said before looking at me, “Heartbeat, you can continue with what you are doing.”
I nodded before getting back to work.
Jelena clenched her lips and teeth together. Even with this precaution, mangled sounds still slipped out of her.
Her body was healing but it was still no match for the rate of injuries piling on her skin.
The sound coming from Jelena was getting louder as time went by.
When I thought about how I was living on the edge of life and death, my anger would come back with full force. That anger would result in more injuries for my nemesis.
Suddenly, a guard came towards the special cell.
I stopped what I was doing and looked towards the open door.
“What is going on? Did something happen?” Killian asked with frowning brows.
“Your majesty, a strange army is surrounding the palace. We didn't let them breach a safe range. This army didn't come from outside the city. If they did, we would have spotted them earlier and implemented measures to stop them. I think this new army was gathered privately without your permission.” The guard replied.
Killian glanced at Jelena and her father, “Fortunately, the army I wanted to use to raze the underwater empire to the ground haven't dispersed yet. Tell my army to surround the palace too.”
“This strange army had not done anything yet. They are clamoring for you to release Jelena and her father though.” The guard said.
“Well, I want to see if these people will be able to take the people I insist on imprisoning away from me.” Killian said before turning to me, “Edna, let's go and see what all this is about.”
I nodded.
Killian and I left the special cell. The guard followed us out too. The door to the special cell was locked again.
