Chapter 139

Edna

“I am ready to see him.” Tyler said.

His pupils was shining with curiosity.

Tyler and I left the library.

The eyes of the two guards at the entrance to the library followed me till I turned a corner. Their gazes was strange.

It was quite obvious that they could see Tyler. I wasn't surprised. I am a human and I could see him too.

It didn't take long for us to get to our destination. Tyler was just ogling at the various hallways, rooms, halls and other architectural creations in the palace.

I didn't blame him. This Palace was built in an ingenious way.

Soon, we arrived at Killian's study.

I knocked before opening the door. I poked my head into the study to check if Killian was still inside.

Fortunately, he was still going through some paperwork behind his desk.

I walked in confidently.

Killian looked up slowly, “Heartbeat, have you finished spending time with the books in the library?”

Jealousy colored his every word.

I chuckled, “I am not done with the library yet because something new came up.”

Killian’s pupils lingered on the curved corners of my lips.

He said, “Share the good news then. I want to join you in your joy.”

“You don't have to ask. That is what I was going to do anyway.” I responded before turning to the entrance to the study, “Tyler, come in.”

Tyler walked into the study confidently.

Killian's eyes snapped to Tyler the moment he came in.

It felt like I could imagine what was going through Killian's mind. It was extremely strange for an unknown face to appear beside me without his knowledge. The issue with Jelena and her schemes left trauma.

Killian’s face chilled a little as he tilted his head.

“Edna, who is this?” He asked, “Your friend doesn't look like a human being.”

I cleared my throat, “Well, he isn't a human being. Before I landed on this planet, he was still human.”

One of Killian's brows rose, “What do you mean?

“This is my brother, Tyler.” I announced.

Killian’s eyes widened, “What did you just say?”

I didn't feel frustrated by his shock.

The smile on my lips became bigger as I glanced at Tyler.

I continued, “I mean what you heard. This is my brother from the same parents. I don't know if I said anything related to him to you before but I am planning to go over it again.”

Killian's sharp eyes was observing Tyler over and over again.

“I think I have mentioned how my home planet was destroyed because of various reasons. My brother and I have been surviving while supporting each other for a very long time. Everything changed when his maniac girlfriend stabbed him because of a disagreement. I had to say my last goodbye to him before leaving my home planet.” I explained.

“That is where your words about him being human in the past came from.” Killian echoed.

I nodded, “Yes. I thought I would have to live with the loss his death caused forever. Luckily, a visit to the library changed that for the better. I saw a book that bragged about having the power to bring dead people back to the land of the living so I grabbed the opportunity. I am so happy.”

Killian's lips curved into a smile, “I am happy too. I don't want to bring sad topics to a joyful gathering but I have a few things I want to ask.”

The joy that comes from my brother coming back to me made everything easier to process.

I waved my hand, “You can go ahead with whatever you want to say. I'm listening.”

“My focus is on the book that realized your wish. Can you describe its appearance?” Killian questioned.

I contained the joy in my eyes a little before locking eyes with Killian, “Why are you asking about the appearance of the book? Is something wrong?”

Killian dropped the thin tablet he was holding on the table and focused on me fully.

“I won't say there is something wrong per se. I am just concerned. In this world, nothing is truly free. Most spells and rituals with the power to could bring a dead soul back to life isn't something going to be without a price. This situation is suspicious.” Kilian explained.

His explanations made sense. He was directly shining light on the parts I deliberately ignored.
