Chapter 165

Chapter 165
Edna

Killian walked over to me and grabbed my hand. The force he used was gentle. Still, it caused a wave of pain to sweep through my body. A groan left my mouth.

The air around Killian seemed to drop in temperature.

"Don't worry, I am fine. I think the painkiller the doctor gave me has not set in yet." I consoled him.

"A scratch from a cat should not cause the kind of pain you are feeling. I think it is likely that the cat is infected with a disease." Killian said, "We should get a test done."

"Okay." I responded.

The pain I was feeling was getting too much. Killian's guess about the cat having a disease might be probable.

"Edna, why is your body so hot?" Killian asked.

He didn't even wait for my reply. His arms wrapped around me before lifting my body into the air.

He left the study at his fastest speed.

After Killian mentioned my high temperature, I started to feel sweaty. The images I was seeing started to double.

Something was terribly wrong. All the moisture in my mouth seemed to have disappeared. I didn't make a move to talk.

A black dot suddenly appeared in my vision.

I knew what this meant. That black dot was a precursor to me losing my consciousness.

Like I had suspected, the black dot started to clone itself. It continued to multiply till all I could see was inky darkness.

Soon, my consciousness sank into a forced coma.

My pupils moved under my eyelids as I struggled to wake up. After an unknown amount of time, my eyelids flew open.

I was in one of the rooms available in the clinic this Palace has. I was not in Killian's arms.

I kept my eyes open for a while . After getting tired of staring at the ceiling, I tried to sit up.

That action caused my body to spasm.

A sharp hiss dropped from my clenched teeth.

"Hey! Stop trying to sit up. You would trigger your injuries." Killian's voice came.

I heeded his words. It was not like I had the option to choose.

I laid on the bed like a dead body. Physiological tears welled in my eyes.

My whole nose was sore and I felt like sobbing.

I tried my best to turn my head a little.

Killian was sitting on a chair that was very close to my bed. A light blue shadow was under his eyes and his skin seemed to have lost some color. He looked tired and stressed.

I put my current situation to the side first.

"Killian, why are you looking so weak? It is very clear that you haven't been getting enough sleep. I am sure my situation is not that serious. It is best if you don't cause issues for your body for my sake. You would just make me worried. I don't want the two of us to visit the palace clinic in turns." I questioned.

Killian shook his head, "You should be focusing on yourself, not me. I am fine."

My lips moved before I finally spoke, "Okay, what is wrong with me? After talking about why I fell into a coma, you have to tell me about yourself too. I hope you are not sick or infected with anything."

Although Killian's tiredness and stress might be due to my sudden collapse, I wanted to make sure that there wasn't an illness involved.

Tiredness can be resolved in one way or the other. On the other hand, getting sick was troublesome.

I remembered that Killian told me that the pain from the scratch and the other strange things happening to my body might be because of a disease the cat that scratched me was carrying.

If my collapse was really caused by a disease, I didn't want Killian to be infected with it.

"So, is the cat really infected with something?" I questioned.

"Yes." Killian said, "The cat was infected with the new disease that we have been investigating."

My mouth quivered and I wished that I heard the wrong thing.

My voice was shaking, “W-what d-did you just say?"
