I rose to my feet.
Killian supported me. His brows tightened. He was handling me like I was an egg that would break at the slightest touch.
"Let's get this treated." I said.
Killian's gaze was focused on the injury. The frown on his face formed deeper lines and wrinkles.
I don't want this man to lose himself in a spiral because of his concern for me.
He nodded before turning to the guard near us, "Cross-check everything. Let me know if there are stray ghosts still lingering in this realm. Send a message if any other issues occur."
The guard bowed inside a little, "Yes, your majesty."
After the guard straightened up, he left.
Killian led me out of the place. He brought me to one of the clinics available in the palace. Everything passed by in a blur. Before I knew it, my hand was bandaged. The accompanying pain decreased drastically.
Killian brought me back to his bedroom. I looked at him with a question in my eyes.
He returned my stare, "You need to rest. You have been through a lot."
A complicated ball of emotions appeared in my heart. I felt disappointed but I was also happy.
I thought we were about to have sex. I don't know if I was ready or not. Thinking about things like that with Killian in my head didn't sound so bad and I wasn't repulsed. It was clear that if Killian made a move, there was a very high chance that I won't stop him.
It was a bit embarrassing to get slapped by reality while having those kinds of thoughts.
I cleared my throat and got on the bed.
Killian rubbed the center of his brows as he climbed the bed too.
He started, "I forgot to tell you something. A party is going to be held in the palace very soon. It is a few days away at most. It is a ritualistic party and I want to formally invite you to go with me."
"I think I would be well rested then and this injury would have healed up. It is my honor to accept your invitation." I replied.
"Great. I want to use this party as a reputation booster for you. Although my decision to make you my lifelong partner would not change because of others' disapproval, if there is acceptance from the people here, it will be great." Killian said.
"I understand. Thank you for all you have done for me." I said with a smile.
Killian smiled back before closing his eyes. I shut my eyes too.
For now, I just had to focus on healing.
