Chapter 152
Chapter 152
Edna
The only guard that was here with us wasn't really useful in this situation. My breath slowed down as I waited for the inevitable attack from the ghostly Tyler that before me.
More vines appeared out of thin air. Those vines wrapped around the cocoon I had wrapped myself with.
My mouth moved.
'I will handle this. Focus on what you are doing.' I mouthed to Killian.
"This is why romantic love can be such a bother. Now that you have him in your life, you don't want to acknowledge your brother anymore." Tyler's distorted voice said, "Edna, you are a very bad sister."
Maliciousness mixed with the strangely familiar voice of the brother I remembered.
The attack I had been waiting for arrived in the blink of an eye. Tyler didn't just send an ordinary attack my way. He used this whole body as collateral. It was clear that he wanted to deal as much damage as he could.
His body—or what remained of it—turned into a sharp light that pierced through the cocoon of thick vines I summoned to protect myself.
My sixth sense repeatedly made me know that this was an attack I couldn't dodge. I had to settle for the next best thing.
I moved my body around a little. The area that Tyler's attack had the highest chance of landing on changed.
The vines around me fell away because of Tyler's hit. His attack landed on my shoulder.
The hit was heading for my neck befire I moved away.
Pain bloomed in the affected area. I felt like someone was using a rock to smash my bones to pieces. My flesh felt like needles was used to pick the nerves apart.
A gasp slipped from my lips and I crumpled to the floor.
"Edna!" Killian's caring voice shouted.
I looked at him with clenched teeth.
"Don't interrupt the ritual!" I released my lips and shouted.
He nodded slowly. I could see that he would rather be by my side. Unfortunately, our current situation can't handle any delay.
A hole was in my shoulders. Through this mangled hole, my bones, blood and flesh could be seen.
Tyler's body condensed into a solid form before facing me again.
Sweat beaded on my skin. I don't know if I would be able to stomach another attack of the same caliber.
I have no choice but to endure though.
As long as Tyler was not disturbing Killian, things would still be manageable.
The injury was sending waves of pain. These pain signals affected my thinking.
I shook my head and fixed my eyes on the fake Tyler.
My eyes watched him carefully.
If I could avoid the next attack totally, I would do so.
Regret burned my insides. Did I come across that cursed book?
I let my nostalgia and emotions ruin things.
I activated my superpower again. Although I felt like my vines did little in preventing Tyler's attack from injuring me severely, I still conjured them.
Those vines were better than nothing.
