Chapter 169
Chapter 169
Killian
After walking out of Edna's clinic ward, I stopped. My fists clenched.
I was a few seconds away from going back to the ward. I could feel Edna's worry. Sadly, this trip was something I have to do.
Waiting for the doctors and scientists working on this disease to come up with a cure requires patience. I don't have the time for that.
Besides, waiting would be too passive.
If a sliver of hope hadn't appeared, I would not feel that waiting for an eventual cure was stressful. The mastermind had given me a hint of hope. I would not let this hope go.
Seeing Edna lying on the bed in pain was torturous to me.
I steeled my heart and continued moving away from the clinic.
My eyes darkened. I have work to do.
All this pain I was feeling and all the ones Edna was going through must be experienced by the mastermind behind this situation.
I would not let that person go.
I stopped again and unlocked my wrist band. My fingers flew across the transparent screen that popped up.
I sent a reply to the mastermind.
The person that sent the blackmailing message responded right away.
I paused for a few seconds. It felt like this person was glued to his device just because of my response.
The person at the other side of our communication sent a location.
The location was imprinted on my brain.
After settling the mastermind, I tapped another section of my screen.
I started to message the one of the guards in charge of the treasury.
I instructed the guard to bring some gold bars and a few naturally formed gems. My current location was sent to the guard too.
After getting an affirmative reply, I stopped looking at my wristband. I waited where I was.
Time seemed to pass by slowly. I wished I could deal with this issue as fast as possible.
Finally, footsteps approached me. I looked up to see the guard I had messaged. He was holding a very large wooden box.
"Drop the box." I said.
The guard nodded before doing as I instructed .
He didn't do or say anything else. He bowed his head before leaving. I opened the box to crosscheck what was inside it.
After glancing at it, I nodded appreciatively. What I asked for was what I got.
I closed the box.
My eyes started to become stormy. It was time to put the worm that was overstepping his bounds in his place. I wasn't stupid enough to follow the conditions the mastermind sent to me.
I was going to behave like I was gullible enough to follow those conditions though.
I started messaging one of the heads of the imperial guards.
I gave them precise instructions that I want them to follow. My plan was to make the guards follow me at a distance.
After making all the preparations I needed, I grabbed the box by my feet.
I started heading towards the entrance to the palace.
My hovercraft was already waiting for me in the parking space connected to the palace. I got into the hovercraft and headed towards the location the mastermind had given me.
Getting to my destination didn't take too much time. One of the reasons for this is my speed. I didn't want to waste any time.
The location the mastermind choose was tricky. It was a bit remote but it was not completely cut off from the hustle and bustle of the nearest living settlement.
