Chapter 168
Chapter 168
Edna
"Impossible! Killian, tell me you are not going to listen to that person. If it is only money they want, there are ways to get those to him. I am not going to let you put yourself into danger, especially with someone that has the means to infect a person with this unknown disease. The other tricks the mastermind might have is unknown. We have to be careful." I said.
My words were hurried because of my emotions.
Although the mastermind was asking for a ransom, I felt like Killian was going to walk into a trap if he followed the instructions that was in the message the people behind my collapse sent.
"I understand where you are coming from. The mastermind might be afraid of me setting a trap for him so he set this condition. I am sure he or she must be aware of my power too so they might have a plan that would counter me in place." Killian answered
"You said it yourself. The mastermind might have readied a plan that will leave you vulnerable when you meet up with him. Don't listen to him. I am sure we can find the antidote on our own. I don't want to see you put yourself in harms way because of me or something else. Anything can happen if you tried to fulfill the conditions in the message the mastermind sent." I said.
Killian shook his head, "Edna, I must go to this meeting. First, I want to see who is behind your illness. I suspect that this guy might be the one that introduced this new disease to this world in the first place. Secondly, anyone that threatens you, me or the people under my jurisdiction has to pay for that mistake. Besides, the antidote that was mentioned is enough for me to go on this trip. I can't let you continue suffering on this bed when there is a glimmer of hope."
"No! Killian, I don't agree with this." I argued.
"Edna," Killian's hand wrapped around mine again, "I would put your concerns at the forefront of my mind. I would make sure I take care of myself. I won't let myself die. Trust me."
I didn't try to fling Killian's hand away from me this time. He was clearly not going to stay away from me to protect himself from the disease I have.
Besides, he might have already been infected.
Killian stopped holding my hand and rose to his feet.
Kylian didn't understand me. I don't want him to put my concerns in mind. I want him to stay here and be safe.
Even if he got infected with the disease I have, it didn't matter. I have hope in the doctors and scientists working on a cure. We would be fine.
It might take a while but we would be okay.
Fury burned my insides.
Why wasn't this man listening to me? If I could move my body as I wanted, I would have tried my best to stop him.
My eyes watered as I watched Killian take steps out of this clinic ward.
The argumentative words that were at the tip of my tongue didn't make it out of my mouth in the end.
I knew Killian wasn't going to listen. His mind was made up.
My eyes trailed him as he walked out of the ward. Killian didn't look back.
My eyes closed in defeat. Tears trailed out of the corners of my eyes. Those tears disappeared into my hair.
"Please God, I pray he comes back to me safe." I mumbled.
The pain in my heart surpassed the agony that was tormenting my body. All I could think about was Killian.
I really wished the mastermind behind my illness was in front of me right now. I wanted to tear him apart.
Killian said he suspected that this person might be related to the outbreak of this unknown disease. My mind strayed to the people that was infected with the new disease. I was reminded of the pain those people felt.
That was another reason to tear the person behind this evil scheme apart.
My fingers clenched into fists and I kept my eyes closed. The darkness behind my eyelids was like a comforting blanket that would separate me from reality and its pain.
I really hoped that things would be fine.
