Chapter 142

Chapter 142

Edna

Killian began his search immediately. I followed his actions. I grabbed a few books from the shelf before flipping them from cover to cover.

Time went by slowly.

Sweat beaded on my forehead. As time went by the grief and sadness in my heart multiplied.

I was really worried.

I don't know why the red book disappeared. I don't want an unknown cost to affect Tyler in any way.

I have finally gotten my brother back after so much. I don't want anything to take him for me.

A book pile appeared between Killian and I. This book pile contained the books we had gone through.

Only the sound of fingers flipping pages hung in the library. The sound was even echoing due to how quiet Killian and I was.

“I found something.” Killian said in an exuberant voice.

My hand movements paused as my gaze settled on him.

“Really? Let me see.” I dropped the book I was holding and hurried to his side.

“You can check it out yourself.” Killian said as he handed the book to me.

I opened the book and went through its pages impatiently.

“It has a way to send ghosts, spectrals or any other beings that doesn't belong here back to where they came from.” Killian said, “The good thing is that this book states what it wants in exchange for fulfilling our wish directly.”

“Killian,” I paused to gather myself, “This isn't really the solution I want. We should be looking for ways to offset the unknown cost the red book demands. I am not trying to send Tyler away. Even if we use this book to send Tyler away, the previous ritual I did with the red book won't be automatically nullified. The red book will still take the price for fulfilling my wishes anyway.”

Killian sighed, “I know this solution isn't what you want but I feel like there is no choice. Truly, sending your brother away doesn't guarantee that the red book wouldn't still demand a price. I just think prevention is better than cure. It is better to try our best to return things to how they were to control damages and reduce further harm.”

“I can understand where you are coming from. Tyler's existence isn't bringing any harm. I think I would wait for the demands from the red book to appear so I can fulfill them.” I said.

Killian shook his head, “You don't understand. The cost for something like the ritual you did is huge. I don't think it is something that you can fulfill alone. You are right about waiting for the hidden price of the red book to appear. Anything that crops up would have a suitable and tailored solution. Panicking wouldn't really help our case.”

“I have really stressed you out.” My eyebrows dropped.

Killian waved his hand, “Don't say that. Helping you and other things related to you isn't stressful and it isn't work.”

“Thank you.” I said before dropping a kiss on his cheek.

Killian took the book in my hand away. Like the red book, the cover of this book had a vibrant purple color.

I look at him with a question in my eyes.

“I am going to keep this in case we need it.” He said.

I nodded.

Suddenly, the door to the library flew open. Someone rushed in.

My brows furrowed.
