Chapter 140
Chapter 140
Edna
“The book was red with black font. It looked like a creepy book, I am not going to lie about that. The thing is, even with all the red flags I noticed, I still wanted to bring my brother back so I went ahead with the ritual.” I said.
“Your explanation is making me lean towards the thought that the book might have an unknown price.” Killian responded.
“I understand your concerns.” I sighed.
Killian snapped his fingers. The next moment, a knock sounded.
“Come in.” Killian's words echoed throughout the study.
The door knob turned and someone stepped into the study. The new arrival was a guard.
The guard bowed a little, “Your majesty, I am here.”
Killian’s gaze turned to me, “What is the text written in the book’s cover?”
I replied, “The Art Of Calling Spirits.”
Killian nodded.
“Go to the library. You have to bring a book with red cover and black font to me. You heard the words she said. Don't bring wrong book.” Killian instructed.
“Noted, your majesty.” The guard replied before leaving.
Silence settled after the guard left.
I cleared my throat, “Tyler, I thought you said you were ready to see the person I plan to spend the rest of my life with earlier. Why are you so silent now?”
Tyler's face was expressionless as Killian expressed his concerns about the ritual I performed.
For the first time after his resurrection, my brother looked strangely eerie.
Vitality seemed to seep into him as the last word dropped from my lips.
A light sigh of relief left my lips. I don't want Tyler to feel like he was unwanted because of the words Killian said. Killian was just expressing his concerns for me.
I hope my brother and my future partner would have a great relationship. These two people are the only living beings that matter the most to me. I don't want them to be at odds.
Tyler scratched the back of his head before turning to Killian, “Hi, it is nice to meet you.”
“It is nice to meet you too. Thank you for being Edna’s support and thank you for taking care of her when I couldn't.” Killian responded.
“I don't have anything against the relationship between the two of you. I just want to tell you to treat her well. If you harm even one strand of hair on her head, I would make sure I use my entire existence to give you trouble.” Tyler said.
Killian nodded in understanding, “Don't worry about that, she is my life. I won't treat her badly.”
“That is good to hear.” Tyler said before turning to me, “You lovebirds should spend more time together. I want to explore the palace, can I do that?”
I made eye contact with Killian and he shrugged.
I knew Killian would probably not have any problem with Tyler exploring the palace. I just wanted his input.
“You can explore as you wish, Tyler.” I replied.
A bright smile appeared on Tyler's face before he left.
“I will ask the kitchen to make special food to celebrate your brother's return. You can talk to the kitchen staff to instruct them on dishes you want to see or the ones you don't want to eat.” Killian said.
The suppressed joy in my eyes bloomed like it was spring.
“Thank you for your consideration. I am going to do that later.” I responded before walking over to where Killian sat.
His powerful hands pulled me into his embrace.
I made myself comfortable before looking at him.
“Do you think ghosts and spectrals can eat normal food?” I asked.
A thoughtful look colored Killian's pupils, “I don't really know. Your brother seemed like he could go through inanimate items but at the same time, he can touch anything in the physical world. I think he might be able to eat. We won't know until we try. Your brother is a special case after all.”
“True.” I nodded.
A comfortable silence settled around us. Killian resumed his work and I continued chilling in his embrace.
A sharp knock sounded.
Killian and I looked at the door immediately.
“Come in.” Killian ordered.
The doorknob turned and the person that had knocked came in.
The newcomer was the guard Killian sent to retrieve the red book from the library.
The guard’s face was filled with panic and he wasn't holding any book.
“Your majesty, I couldn't find the book you described. I even employed the services of the rest of my brothers and sisters to search but nothing was found.” The guard said.
