Chapter 184
Chapter 184
Edna
"How do you think we should arrange Joey's situation? I don't want the woman that bought him to be alerted before he is taken away." I began.
"Don't worry about it. I am going to take care of it. The men I placed around Joey would rescue him successfully." Killian responded.
It occurred to me that I didn't ask Killian about the details of the surveillance he placed around my former exploration team members.
As this thought appeared, I discarded it. I wasn't interested in knowing the details of the surveillance he did.
"After the rescue, it would be great to teach that woman a lesson." I said, "Before you consider that suggestion, let me ask an important question. Is the woman that bought Joey in a very high position? Would teaching her lesson cause trouble?"
"She is not in a low position and she is also not in a high position. Just think of her current position as a comfortable one." Killian replied.
I let a sigh of relief escape my lips, "That is good then. Please go ahead with the plan of teaching her a lesson."
Killian and I settled into a comfortable silence.
"Since you are done now, are you ready to rest? You have been occupied with this issue and it is time to relax." Killian’s voice tore the silence around us to shreds.
I dropped the tablet beside me and laid on my back.
"I still have things to do. I will rest later." I responded
Killian looked at me with disapproval, "Edna."
His tone was filled with warning.
"Yes." I answered in a sticky voice.
"You can speak to the members of the exploration team I captured later. They are not going to run away. You should rest." Killian said.
I shook my head, "While it is true that I am not in a hurry, I would still prefer to see them today. Since I have decided to find ways for my kind to stay here, there's no need to delay things unnecessarily."
Killian was still looking at me with disapproving eyes, "Taking good care of your body and resting appropriately is not a delaying tactic. Resting is not unnecessary."
I turned over to my side, "Alright, I can understand you perfectly. I am not going to budge on my decision to meet up with those people today though. After the meeting, I am going to rest. I can promise you that."
"I will listen to you this time. I just want you to know that I am going to ensure that you uphold your promise. You can't slip out of doing it." Killian replied.
"I know." I nodded perfunctorily.
"Should I bring those people over now or do you want to relax a little?" Killian asked
"Bring them over." I responded.
The moment the last word escaped my lips, Killian rose to his feet and left.
The personal ward descended into silence. I closed my eyes to nap.
Although I knew that the tiny amount of rest I was going to get wouldn't really mean much in the long run, I still closed my eyes to sleep.
Half bread was better than none.
An unknown amount of time passed by.
A knock sounded and the tendrils of sleep that surrounded my consciousness faded away.
I tapped on the screen of the tablet that was close to me and looked at the time.
Some minutes had gone by.
I was surprised that Killian had not arrived earlier.
With the fast way he worked on things, this slow return was strange.
It seems Killian knew that I wanted to rest a little so he gave me the chance to do so.
"Come in." I responded to the people at the door.
The door opened and Killian walked in.
A group that consisted of six people came in after him.
"Did you rest well?" Killian asked softly.
I nodded.
My guess was confirmed. A sweet feeling bloomed in my heart.
I had to fight the urge to smile like a foolish person.
Killian hummed in response.
He didn't sit down. Killian stood near me with an intimidating gaze.
In that instant, the atmosphere in the room became solemn and stifling.
