Chapter 141

Chapter 141

Edna

Killian gazed at the guard intensely, “Did you really search properly?”

The guard nodded like he was a pestle pounding a mortar, “Yes, your majesty. We searched the library over and over again. The minimum number of searches we did is five. We wanted to be sure. That book wasn't in the library at all.”

I straightened up. Things didn't look good. This wasn't what I expected.

I was having a bad feeling. Killian was just talking about an unknown price a few minutes ago and now, the book disappeared entirely.

I rose my feet.

Although I knew the guard wouldn't attempt to lie in this kind of situation, the urge to question him again sprouted.

I wanted to search the library myself. The book that brought Tyler to me was supernatural. It might only reveal itself to select people.

I turned to Killian, “Since I am the one that found the book, maybe I should search for it myself. Nobody knows how these kinds of book works. It might appear to me specifically.”

Killian stood up too, “I would go to the library with you.”

I nodded and the three of us left. We arrived at the library in record time.

The moment I got into the library, I started searching for the book immediately.

Killian joined me in the search.

Time ticked by. Fatigue tugged at my consciousness but I refused to give up. I searched the shelves and areas in the library again and again.

‘Where is that cursed book?’

Suddenly, a arm wrapped around my waist. The other one wrapped around my shoulders before bringing me closer.

“Heartbeat, you have done enough.” Killian's warm voice came, “I don't think the book is in this library anymore.”

“That shouldn't be the case. It is supposed to be here.” I whispered.

All the signs right now was pointing at the fact that bringing Tyler back might be a very bad idea. I didn't like it one bit.

“Instead of panicking, we should try to find what the book wants as its price. I hope it is not something huge.” Killian said before his eyes scanned the library, “I think there are many books that might go against the red book we are looking for.”

I looked at him with hopeful eyes, “Really?”

Killian nodded, “I came across those kind of books before. Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you or your brother.”

I hugged Killian tightly, “Thank you.”

The hand on my shoulders landed on my head before stroking my hair soothingly.

His comfort quelled some of the anxiety that was tearing my heart apart.

“You are always welcome.” He responded.

I give myself a brief time to pull my scattered mental state back together.

Once I was sure I was fine, I disengaged from the hug.

“I think it is time for us to find the books that might counter the effect of the red book.” Killian said.

I nodded.

The guard that followed us to the library stayed at the entrance with the other two.

Killian and I went straight towards a specific shelf.

Hope filled my heart.

I am really praying that we resolve this whole situation in a way that wouldn't cost too much damage.
