"I would never leave you on my own initiative." Killian responded, "Anyways, enough of that. Edna, since your questions have been answered, can you rest now? After how I behaved yesterday, your body needs to be nurtured back to the normal state."
His words brought my mind away from the incident that happened yesterday. It was a welcome distraction.
Continuing to think about yesterday's scheme would cause an headache to form sooner or later.
Nobody knows the motive behind yesterday's trap. I don't know if they wanted Killian to harm me in his agitated state or if they were aiming for something else.
If Killian and I didn't have a good relationship, yesterday's issue might cause trouble in our companionship in the long run.
If I had not agreed to accompany Killian and if Killian chose to sleep with me against my will, it was highly likely that resentment would form and our relationship would break down.
I shook my head slowly.
Anyways, I didn't want to think about the incident anymore. All I know was that the malicious plan failed.
My mind focused on Killian's words.
I just woke up from sleep so I wasn't feeling too sleepy. Killian's suggestion was like a death sentence to me.
My eyes moved erratically before a light bulb went off in my head.
"What about food? I haven't eaten anything yet and I am hungry." I asked.
I knew if I got up to eat, I would have a higher chance of persuading Killian to give up on his goal.
Killian tapped the light band on his wrist a few times.
He looked towards me with deep eyes that seemed to be aware of all my hidden plans.
He clicked his tongue, "Don't worry about that. I have preparations in place."
Before I could give him a reply that would help my case, a knock sounded on the door. I looked towards the door immediately.
"Come in." Killian prompted.
The person knocking on the door twisted the doorknob before coming in. The new arrivals were two maidservants.
They came in with a trolley filled with all kinds of food.
After bringing the trolley towards me, the two of them bowed their heads and left.
The last lady to leave closed the door behind her considerately.
"This is a tonic. It will nourish your body." Killian said as he pointed at a bowl filled with soup.
The soup was a crystal clear green color that evoked my appetite.
Killian went on to introduce everything on the trolley.
Once he was done, I dug into the food like a starving madman. My utensils picked the dishes I liked and avoided the ones I disliked. I made sure I was enjoying myself fully.
It was clear that there was no way I would get out of this compulsory rest. I wanted to make the most of my situation by doing as I liked during the meal.
Killian indulged me completely. He watched me eat with a smile on his lips. He was looking at me like he was watching the most interesting play in the world.
He looked like he would never get tired of looking at me.
Under his hot gaze, I finished the food. Killian pushed the trolley away from me.
"Now, it is time to rest. I am sure you don't have any more concerns and excuses." He said.
I wasn't willing to give up.
"I will only sleep if you accompany me." I requested, "That shouldn't be too much to ask, right?"
I was sure that Killian had things to do. I was doing everything in my power to get out of this compulsory rest. Although my body was aching, I wanted to walk around the palace.
Actually, I wasn't picky. Anything other than laying in bed was fine.
"Okay, I would accompany you." Killian responded.
He clapped and the door opened again. I looked up to see the two maids that brought the trolley in earlier. They had not left.
The two maids came into the bedroom quickly before taking the trolley away. The door closed silently behind them.
Killian got into the bed fully. He wrapped his arms around me.
I wrapped my arms around him too. His scent encompassed me like a safety net. My request was just a way to get out of resting but now that Killian's hands were around me, I was glad that he agreed to stay in bed with me.
I didn't plan to sleep and I thought my eyes were going to remain open for a while longer.
Alas, reality didn't keep up with my plans and thoughts. The comfortable atmosphere around me made my eyes heavier. The soreness and pain in my body made the onset of my sleepiness faster.
My eyelids closed and my consciousness sank into the darkness behind my closed eyes.
The last thing I felt before my consciousness fell into the embrace of sleep was Killian's thumb rubbing unknown symbols on my skin slowly.
