Chapter 167
Chapter 167
Edna
Suddenly, the wristband on him flashed with a bright light.
Killian's brow furrowed before he lifted his wrist to check what the issue was.
A transparent window appeared above the wristband and Killian started to move. I couldn't really see what was on the screen because of my position on the bed.
I didn't mind. I let my eyes go back to staring at the ceiling.
"You bastard!" Killian's angry voice brought me back from my daydream.
I moved my head a little and stared at him with wide eyes.
"What's wrong?" I questioned.
"Edna, your meeting with the cat that scratched you was arranged. Your current situation wasn't a result of any coincidence. The cat was there to cause trouble for you specifically." Killian's cold words came.
Every word that came out of Killian's lips was forceful and his voice was filled with murderous intent.
My eyebrow rose, “How is that possible? Besides, the cat didn't look like it was tamed or controlled. It behaved normally."
"I don't know how the people behind all this did it either." Killian replied, "I think they might have found a way to track your itinerary and movements. This is the only way to explain why the mastermind knew you were injured. Although I didn't hide your illness deliberately, the mastermind's quick discovery of this knowledge is still strange. I searched your body for any surveillance items. My search yielded nothing."
I listened intently.
How did Killian know about the people behind my sudden illness? How did he know that my illness was a malicious scheme instead of a freak accident?
I didn't ask questions. I just wanted Killian to say what he has to say first.
Killian continued, "In my opinion, the cat that was sent to you was treated like a lottery ticket. If the cat didn't accomplish what it was meant to do, more cats or other animals would be released into the palace to injure you. If the mastermind hadn't sent a message to me a few seconds ago, nobody would have suspected that something was terribly wrong. We would have just focused on why wild animals appeared in the palace."
The questions I was about to ask was answered by Killian's continuous explanation.
My mouth dropped open, "The mastermind contacted you? Who gave that person the guts to do something like that after provoking you with their scheme?"
Killian replied, "Yes, whoever is behind your sudden illness contacted me. It is very clear that this evil scheme is a blackmail plot. There are some things I don't know though. The mastermind told me he has an antidote for this new disease. The words about an antidote was what made me open the message that was sent."
"What did the person want in exchange for this so called antidote?" I asked.
Skepticism was threaded through my voice.
Killian had been trying his best to show how important I was to the world and to his people. I didn't question why the mastermind of this scheme decided to target me.
It was already very obvious.
"The mastermind wants riches and he wants me to bring it to him personally. I must not bring any guards with me." Killian replied.
Asking for only money or other valuable resources was smart. Still, the last part of Killian's words made my eyes widen.
