Chapter 135

Chapter 135

Edna

I dropped the book on the nearest table before heading to the entrance to the library.

My right hand landed on the door knob before pulling it open.

The two guards standing at each side of the door looked towards me with a huge question mark on their faces.

“I need one of you to get some things for me.” I said.

The two guards straightened their figures.

The one on the right replied, “You can state your request, your Highness.”

Within the next minute, I listed all the required materials.

The two guards looked at me strangely. I was really sure that I didn't have any physical mutation. Still, the two guards’ gazes was pointing to the fact that I might have grown a second head.

“Should I repeat myself? Why are you looking at me like I am about to demolish this Palace?” I coughed.

“The materials you are requesting for are a little bit strange so our faces reflected that. We are sorry for not being in control of our facial expressions.” The guard standing on my left side said.

I waved him off, “You don't have to apologize. Just get what I need quickly.”

The guard standing on my right side bowed his head a little before exiting.

The guard was right. Some of the materials required by the book was strange.

The reverse scale of an underwater siren was part of the required materials.

King Ricard and his people should be merfolk. I don't know if underwater sirens were part of the merfolk race or if it was another new species entirely.

One part of me was hoping that the guard succeeds in bringing every material I listed back to me.

I can't fail. I must try my best to bring Tyler back.

I didn't move away from the entrance to the library. Fortunately, the guard that went to get what I asked for didn't make me wait for too long.

A few minutes later, footsteps sounded. I brought my wandering mind back to the present. The approaching guard stopped in front of me.

He presented a large basket to me.

The basket was made with light metallic material. A netted barrier that was almost transparent covered the top of the basket.

This netted layer prevented the items in the basket from flying out if accidents happen.

I accepted the basket before looking at him gratefully.

“Thank you so much.” I said.

He nodded in reply.

After getting what I wanted, I went back into the library and closed the door behind me.

Through the closing gap of the door, I saw the guard that just returned go back to his previous post.

My fingers tightened around the basket as I approached the table I left the strange book on.

My breath was getting rapid.

I dropped the basket on the table before picking the reddish book up.

I went through the contents of the book again.

Once I was completely sure that I wasn't going to mess anything up, I placed the book back on the table.

I grabbed the basket and removed the netted layer.

A light sigh slipped from my lips before I started arranging the materials in the places they should go.

‘No mistake.’

I put all my attention on what I was doing.

This matter would not be jeopardized.
