Chapter 146
Chapter 146
Edna
Killian’s hands clasped mine, “I can't really say I understand how you feel since I am not walking in your shoes. Still, feeling torn between two decisions is very normal. I know it can be jarring to lose your brother a few hours after you brought him back. I just want you to think about the innocent civilians that are under attack without knowing why.”
I sighed, “I am thinking about them. Thank you for speaking to me calmly instead of scolding me or labeling me with harsh words.”
“You have already arrived at a decision in your heart. I am just giving my own input. Besides, scolding someone or chastising them with harsh words has a high chance of resulting in the opposite effect. It is better to express my points calmly.” Killian smiled.
“I just want to spend few more hours with my brother. It would be like a send off.” I said.
“That is a reasonable request. There's no difference between now and the next few hours. The imperial army should be able to hold their ground against the ghosts till you are done.” Killian responded.
My eyes watered.
Killian didn't blame me for the whole mess I caused. He was looking out for me instead.
The love I have for this man just kept increasing. It felt like there was no limit.
I was really thankful to God that I met him.
I can't see myself spending the rest of my life with anyone else at all. I don't think I would be able to stomach anything lesser than the wholesome consideration Killian showered me with. Killian's pampering spoiled me.
Silence settled around us. I spent the next few seconds pulling myself together.
I blinked and the tears that gathered in my eyes dispersed.
“Killian, what would you have done if I refused to send my brother away?” I asked.
Curiosity bloomed in my heart.
My eyes focused on Killian's face. I didn't want to miss anything.
Killian cleared his throat, “I plan to send all the ghosts and spectrals back to where they came from anyway. I know that this decision might hurt you if you decided to keep your brother here. After that, my next step will be the search for ethical ways to bring your brother back without compromising the safety of this world. I will try my best to make it up to you.”
I won't lie, hearing the first few sentences that Killian said made me uncomfortable.
I knew that he was being a good king and he was caring for me in his own way too. Even with this logical conclusion, his hypothetical answer still made me upset.
I sighed.
I must try my best to keep my emotions under control. Sometimes, emotions can lead someone down a bad path.
The rest of his words changed my mood.
My emotions flipped from negativity to positivity in an instant.
I sighed again. The power and control Killian have over my emotions needs to be studied.
“Your hypothetical decision is correct. I don't want you to destroy the empire you fought for because of love. I like your consideration for me though.” I replied before dropping a kiss on his cheek.
“I am glad you think so.” Killian’s lips curled up.
“What did I miss?” A familiar voice said.
Killian and I looked towards the source of the voice immediately.
Tyler is the new arrival.
He came into this place without making a sound.
It was a little bit scary.
I don't know if Tyler had been hanging around. I don't know if he heard most of the things Killian and I discussed.
I don't know why I am feeling this way. I was just uncomfortable with letting my brother know that I would send him away.
Tyler is a very good person.
I know my brother would approve of my decision to send him away to secure the safety of the people in this world. Still, I felt uncomfortable.
“You didn't miss anything.” I said with a small smile on my lips.
“So, should I leave you two love birds alone again?” Tyler's right brow rose.
I shook my head, “There is no need for that. I want to spend time with you.”
Tyler smiled.
Suddenly, my eyes caught something.
I didn't notice it earlier because of the way Tyler appeared.
Tyler's eyes hid something dark. If I didn't look carefully, this change wouldn't be found.
There was a tiny red dot at the corner of his lips.
My eyes narrowed.
