Chapter 155

Chapter 155

Edna

The day of the ritualistic party eventually arrived. During the past few days I make sure I got quality rest.

I had no choice in that matter. Killian was watching over me like a mother hen. He was more concerned than the person that was injured.

I blinked the sleep away from my eyes and sat up.

Once I was fully awake, I left the bed and went to the connected bathroom to freshen up.

Killian wasn't in the room when I woke up. I wasn't worried about that though.

He was mainly in charge of the preparation for the upcoming party.

His frequent absences had become a norm.

After I was done with my relaxing bath, I went back into the bedroom.

There was a dress lying on the bed. The gown was made from a unique material. The material of the dress seemed to reflect the light coming from the windows around.

It was beautiful.

I held my breath for a few seconds. It felt like a rash action or even breathing would disturb the beauty of the dress I was appreciating.

The doorknob twisted before the door opened.

Killian—that wasn't in the room earlier—was back.

I smiled, "Good morning."

"Good morning, heartbeat." He replied, "Did you have a great rest?"

"I did." I responded.

His long legs walked over to me. Once he was in close proximity, he wrapped his arms around me.

I reciprocated.

Killian's body exuded unique warmth. This warmth was comfortable.

His scent created a dome of safety for me.

We stayed in that position for a while before disengaging.

I looked at Killian from head to toe.

"Wow. You are already in your party outfit." I said with a smile still on my lips.

"Yes. The party would start very soon." He spoke.

I looked at Killian with reproachful eyes, "Why didn't you wake me? You left me with a small window of time to prepare."

"You looked like you needed all the sleep you can get so I let you sleep in. Don't worry, even if you overslept, it would not be an issue. You are the Queen and I am the King. Without us, the party would be suspended." Killian replied.

"Stop bending the rules arbitrarily." I chided.

There wasn't any energy behind my words though.

I walked over to the bed and lifted the dress.

Killian moved closer.

"Let me help you with the dress." He said.

I nodded in agreement.

With the help of Killian, I got into the dress. There was a large mirror in the bedroom.

I walked over to where the mirror was. My eyes settled on the mirror.

A breathtaking beauty stared back at me. The color of the dress was a cool purple color. Tiny gems dotted the dress.

It was a very beautiful dress.

When I look into the mirror, I feel like I can see flaws in my physical appearance sometimes.

This gown seemed to eliminate all those flaws.

"You look like a deity." Killian's low voice whispered.

Suddenly, an heat source plastered itself on my back. It was Killian.

His hot breath sprayed on my ears. Goosebumps rose from the surface of my skin. His arms wrapped around my waist.

"Don't make trouble." I warned, "You said the party is going to start very soon."

"I know." Killian replied.

Although his response was agreeing with my words, he still remained in the same position.

Killian burrowed into the crook of my neck.

He was breathing heavily. Just by the sound alone, an unaware bystander might think that he was having trouble with breathing or that he was taking his last breath.

After a while, Killian released me. He straightened the parts of the dress that was wrinkled by his possessive hold.

"Let's go to the venue." Killian said.

I hummed in agreement. The two of us left the bedroom and went to the designated hall.

The moment we entered the hall, all eyes fell on the two of us.

I pursed my lips.

I felt uncomfortable with being the center of attention.

Before I could get used to the sudden public gaze, Killian's hand wrapped around my own.

He squeezed me slightly.

The uncomfortable emotions brought by the public gaze dissipated.

I didn't look at him but a shallow smile appeared on my lips. I squeezed his hand in response.

I looked around.

It felt like the majority of the guests that was going to attend this party were already here.

There was a huge pair of thrones in the hall.

Killian brought me straight to those thrones and we took our seats. We continued waiting for a while.

The party hadn't started officially.

More people came into the hall.

Soon, Killian stood up and clapped.

It seemed like a supernatural force was accompanying that clap . The sound of that clap echoed throughout the hall.

Everybody in the hall stopped and looked towards Killian.

This action marked the beginning of the party.

A servant walked towards Killian with a tray containing a single glass cup.

The transparent glass cup was filled with red wine.

The color of the wine could almost be mistaken for blood.

Killian grabbed the glass cup before tilting it towards the group of people in front of the throne.

His lips parted, "Today is a commemorative day. It is a testament of the beginning of this capital city and our civilization as a whole. It wasn't easy to gather everyone together to form the civilization we are enjoying today but I am thankful that we manage to achieve this feat. May God grant us more prosperous years and less negativity. To beginning!"

As Killian was speaking, the servants in the hall were already going around with trays filled with glasses of red wine.

I got one too.

So, when Killian did a toast with the last sentence he said, everyone cheered together.
