Chapter 190
Chapter 190
Edna
"Where are the people we are supposed to meet?" I asked as I glanced at Abednego.
"They will be here very soon." He replied.
We didn't have to wait for too long. Rustling sounds broke the quiet atmosphere that settled around us.
A group that consisted of three people walked out of the forestry decorating this area.
I recognized one of the people that was approaching. The woman was still as beautiful as ever. Her flowy hair danced around as she moved.
It was Miranda. She had a smile on her face. The other two people were men.
One of the men was old and his black hair was mixed with silver strands. The other man was younger and he looked to be around Miranda's age.
All three of them were carrying small bags.
There were no chairs or places to seat in this location.
Finally, the new arrivals stood before me.
"Hello Edna, long time no see." Miranda said with a smile dancing on her lips.
Her voice seemed to make the atmosphere around us more comfortable.
"Hello Miranda." I responded in a leveled tone.
Miranda's eyes settled on Killian, "This must be the King of aliens."
I didn't want to play word games with Miranda so I just nodded in response to her words.
"This is James." Miranda pointed at the older man.
"Hello James." I greeted.
"And this is Parker." Miranda continued her introduction.
"Hello Miss Edna and hello to the alien King." Parker greeted.
I and Killian nodded in response.
"The rest of you should give us space to talk." Miranda faced the members of Renee's group.
Abednego and the rest of the members of his exploration team nodded. All of them moved closer to the hovercraft.
"You guys should give us space too." Killian instructed and the imperial guards that were standing loosely around us moved closer to our vehicle.
"Mr alien King, please can you give us the space to talk to Edna alone?" Miranda asked with a smile still on her lips.
Killian's eyes darkened. He looked at me with one raised brow.
"I want to speak to them." I responded to his unspoken question.
"Okay." Killian said before stepping back.
"I am sure Abednego and the others have discussed what I want with you guys." I began.
“Yes, we know about everything you guys discussed yesterday." James said.
"Great. That will save me the stress of repeating myself. Before I proceed with the rest of the things I want to say, I want to ask you guys for your opinion and choice. Are you willing to settle down on this planet?" I questioned.
"I am sure you know what our response would be by scheduling this meeting. We are willing to settle down here." Miranda responded.
"Agreeing to settle down is just the first step. I am grateful that humanity choose to stay. I know you guys want to know the details of how your inhabitation of this planet would go. That's why you fixed this meeting. For humans to stay here, they have to follow the laws of this land. I know how humans are and I don't want humans to cause problems for my husband." I said.
"I am sure that both humans and aliens have their flaws. Stop sounding like humans are a scourge that needs to be eliminated." James chipped in.
I massaged my temples, "You know what I am talking about. I am not trying to demonize my race. I am just trying to give a warning based on the patterns I have seen before."
"I understand what you're trying to say. Your words and concerns are valid." Miranda said, "Since we are going to settle down on this planet, where are we going to stay?"
"There's a place that is already reserved for our people. It is up to you guys to develop it to the state you want." I explained.
I tapped on my wristband and messaged Killian.
Me: Can you send that video you showed me on the tablet to my wristband?
Killian: Yes.
After he replied, my wristband released a little sound.
Killian had sent a file. I opened the file and removed some of the restrictions on my wristband.
Removing the screen restrictions made it possible for people that are not the owner of the wristband to see what was showing on it.
"Come closer. This is the place you guys are going to settle down in." I said.
The three representatives of the human race moved closer and watched the video that was playing on my wristband's screen.
Their eyes didn't show any emotions. I won't lie, I was a little surprised to see this.
After the entirety of the video has been shown, I placed the screen restrictions on my wristband back in.
"Edna." Miranda called.
Her face was scrunched up.
"Just say whatever you want to say. That is the purpose of our meeting after all." I said.
"To be truthful, I think a land of this size would not be enough for our race to settle down in. You know humans populate quickly. Moreover, we would need help from your partner." Miranda said.
My eyes became cold. Human greed was starting to rear its ugly head. They haven't even said thank you yet.
It was not like I needed their thank you but it was an expression of their attitude.
"You guys should fill this allocated area up first. Then, we can talk about how to expand the area." I said, "Another thing I want you guys to know is the fact that Killian's help is not an obligation. If he doesn't want to help you guys settle down, it is not a crime and it does not mean he is a bad person."
"Edna!" Miranda shouted, "Why are you behaving like you are not part of the human race? We are trying to fight for favorable conditions for our kind here. Why you being obstinate? Before you are his partner, you are a human first. Besides, as his partner, he is expected to help us."
"I think you are getting some things wrong. I did not become his partner to fight for resources for my kind. I just wanted to be with him. Getting you guys to settle down on this planet is a bonus and that bonus is something I can do without." I said.
"Edna!" Parker shouted.
