Chapter 176

Chapter 176
Killian
“The only thing I can promise you is the fact that you are not going to lose your life for now.” I responded.

He shook his head, “I don't want that. Even if I don't die now, there are plenty ways you can use to make my life a living hell. Please, just let me and Dean go. I promise you, we won't do anything that goes against the heavens and the morals of the common people any more. We would even do good deeds to offset our crimes.”

My expression became icy, “Like I said before, you are not in the position to negotiate with me. I don't like repeating my words. I am going to ask you again. Where is the package? I know I don't have to remind you of the horrors I can cause.”

I dropped the nails that I had been holding amd grabbed the hot branding iron.

The glow from the red hot metal colored my face.

An oppressive silence settled in the dungeon.

Time trickled away, little by little.

I raised a brow. It looks like the effect of the previous torture had faded.

I walked towards him.

Now, the red glow that hinted at the huge amounts of heat the branding iron carried landed on his body too.

I moved the hot tong towards his face. Sweat beaded on his skin before drying off quickly. His skin was starting to lose moisture

My hand kept moving. The tiny hairs on his skin burned off as I pressed the tong closer.

“I'll speak!” He screamed as he leaned away with all his might.

Finally, he broke.

I stopped but I didn't take the hot tong away from the area around his head.

“Then speak.” The curt order dropped from my lips.

“The package is buried near the place Dean was hiding at. We buried it days ago so that the area the package was buried in wouldn't look off from the rest of the surroundings.” He confessed.

I stepped away from him and put the branding tong back on the stove.

“If I find out that you lied to me and wasted my time, i would deal with you.” I threatened.

“It's not a lie. I can use my life to vouch.” He said as he shook his head.

My wristband released a tiny sound. I tapped it and read the message that just came in.

The guards that were supposed to bring Dean to the dungeon have completed the task.

The guards and Dean were outside the door of this dungeon now.

My fingers tapped the wristband I was wearing and I sent a message to some of guards that were standing outside the door with Dean.

I gave them the instruction to bring the package I wanted to me.

Sending this set of guards would save the time I would have used to explain the location the green haured man gave me.

I leaned against the nearest wall and waited.

Time seemed to pass slowly.

Finally, my wristband vibrated. I checked it.

A message caused the vibration. The guards that went to get the package had succeeded in bring it to the palace.

Some of the tension in my body flowed away.

Although the cure to the infectious disease battling Edna hadn't been discovered, I was still glad.

Things were looking up.

Somehow, the green haired man didn't look as annoying as he seemed to me a few minutes ago.

Me: Take it to the scientists researching the cure.

After sending the message, I dialled the contact of one of the scientists in the lab.

The dialling tone went on for a while.

After an unknown amount of time, the person at the other end finally picked up.

“King Killian.” The scientist I called said.

Her name is Franca.

“Hi Franca. Did you get the package I asked the guards to send to the lab?” I asked.

Franca nodded, “Yes. It just arrived a while ago. I haven't opened it yet but my discussion with the guards allude to the fact that this package might lead to a cure.”

“You are right. The package contains a piece of flesh that is the origin of the disease. It should help your research greatly.” I said.

Franca’s eyes brightened.

Her eyes had the same shine that would appear on someone that was obsessed with their work.

She replied, “This is great. Thank you for this.”

“No need for thanks. Franca, I want the cure to be discovered as soon as possible. Edna can't wait and the other infected people can't wait either.” I said.

“I'll try my best.” Franca replied before ending the call.

After getting what I wanted, I didn't have any desire to touch the green haired man anymore.

Making him pay for his crimes would have to wait. I wanted to see Edna. I have been away from her for too long.

I walked out of the dungeon.

“Put that guy inside with his friend. I'll deal with them later.” I instructed as I pointed at Dean.

The guard at the forefront nodded.

I didn't wait to see them implementing my instructions before leaving.

I headed straight to the ward Edna was occupying. I opened the closed door and walked in.

Edna didn't even glance at me. I would not believe it if someone argued that she didn't hear the door open.

I had tried to make my entrance as loud as possible.

She was laying on her side while facing away from the doorway.

A smile that was part amusement and part resignation appeared on my lips.

It was clear that my beloved Queen was ignoring me.

Ouch.
