Chapter 144
Chapter 144
Edna
We did not spend too much time on our journey. We arrived at our destination in record time.
The three of us came out of the hovercraft.
The area we are in was clean and it was a distance away from the palace. Some of the houses, shops and malls was closed tightly.
A few people were moving around. The expressions on some of the people's faces wasn't okay at all. It was hinting at the situation the guard told us about.
“Your majesty, miss Edna. Please follow me.” The guard said.
Killian and nodded.
We followed the guard.
“We have cleared this place. That is why things are calm now. I don't think this situation would last for a very long time though. The amount of dead spirits roaming around is overwhelming.” The guard explained, “The place I am taking you two to is one of the largest graveyards in this vicinity. Many dead spirits are popping up from there so the focus is on that area.”
Killian nodded.
Suddenly, the temperature around us dropped drastically.
The three of us stopped immediately. Energy gathered and an almost translucent spirit came out of the ground.
This spirit wasn't alone. Three more ghosts joined it.
Two ghosts out of the total four has a bloodthirsty air hanging around them.
The four ghosts launched themselves at us at a fast speed. There was no discussion. Even the fake good behavior the guard talked about earlier wasn't present.
The people around us scattered in various directions.
Some brave citizens moved closer to us.
The area around us became emptier.
My hand moved and multiple vines bloomed into existence.
The guard and Killian sprung into action immediately too.
My vines pierced one of the ghosts. Unfortunately, my superpower didn't have any effect on the ghost and it continued rushing in my direction like a madman.
Killian’s hand grabbed the ghost that rushed toward him before tightening. The ghost tried to struggle. Its struggles was useless.
Before I could blink, the ghost Killian was holding combusted and turned into white dust.
Killian didn't give himself the chance to breathe. He attacked the ghost that was heading my way immediately.
In seconds, the ghost that was about to attack me joined the one Killian destroyed earlier.
Killian looked at me with worry. His two hands rested on my shoulder as his eyes scanned me over and over again.
“Are you okay, heartbeat?” He asked.
“Don't worry, nothing happened to me.” I replied as my hands wrapped around the large hands on my shoulders.
Once Killian was sure I was fine, he turned his dark eyes to the last two ghosts battling with the guard.
Anger sparked in his pupils.
Killian clenched his palm and the two ghosts simultaneously combusted before fading away into nothingness.
A frown was in Killian's face, “Things are really bad. Some civilians don't have systematic training that the military and members of the imperial force would have even if they have superpowers. We just find a way to deal with this quickly. Delay is dangerous.”
