Chapter 191
Chapter 191
Edna
"Don't scream my name!" I snapped, "Miranda, don't tell me that you are trying to fight for our kind. You are not. You are just being greedy. I know I am human. That's why I can't let you behave in a troublesome manner."
"We heard that the indigenes have supernatural powers. You know humans don't have superpowers. I am just trying to equalize things." Miranda argued.
Her eyes were cold and she was looking at me like I was a traitor to the human race.
"We don't need you to try to equalize things. There are already laws for that and more laws are being made or amended." I responded, "Before the thought of humans settling down on this planet even crossed my mind, there are already laws about indiscriminate use of superpowers in place. You guys will do just fine."
The faces of the three representatives of the human race wasn't looking good. I ignored their expressions.
I continued, "If you guys don't want to agree to my terms, you can choose to keep drifting for God knows how long."
An oppressive silence filled the void the lack of speech created.
Time seemed to slow down.
"Edna, don't be angry. We agree to any terms you have. I am so sorry for our behavior." Miranda said.
The cold expression on her face had faded away.
A smile was back on her face. This smile sent chills down my spine.
I knew she still disagreed with my words and actions deep down.
She was just cooperating and humbling herself because rejecting my offer would result in consequences she would not be able to bear.
I looked at her deeply for a while before nodding.
"My husband said he would help you guys with some resources you might need when settling down in the allocated area." I spoke.
I considered this news a good one. Like I expected, the solemn atmosphere disappeared as I spoke.
"Thank you so much. We understand your words and stance. There is one more thing we need to address." Miranda said.
"What is it?" I questioned.
"Relying on just verbal agreements can lead to consequences that I don't want to see. Can your husband draft a contract regarding your terms and everything else for us?" Miranda asked.
I started tapping my wristband.
Me: My dear, please come over.
Killian: Okay.
After getting his reply, I stopped staring at my wristband.
Killian acted promptly. Within seconds, his long legs had covered the distance between us.
"Are you done?" He asked me.
"Yeah." I replied, "There is just one more thing to straighten out. They want a contract. I think a contract transferring the ownership of the area you allocated to them is fine. You can add the rules you want them to follow into the contract too."
"Getting a contract is great. I don't know how I forgot about something like that." Killian replied.
He looked at Miranda and the two men beside her.
Miranda, Parker and James straightened their figure.
"I would draft a contract today." Killian said, "Renee should stay in the palace with Edna and I. I would ask her to contact you when the contract is ready."
"Thank you sir." Miranda said.
James and Parker bowed a little too.
"I think that is all the things we need to address, right?" Killian asked.
Miranda, James and Parker nodded simultaneously.
"Since that is the case, we would be taking our leave." Killian said.
His hand grabbed mine. The two of us walked back to the area the hovercraft was parked.
"Renee is going back with us. The other humans are staying here." Killian said.
Renee and the other members of her exploration team nodded. Killian and I got into the vehicle. Then, Renee followed.
The imperial guards were the last set of people to go into the vehicle.
The driver started the hovercraft once everyone was seated.
From the windows of the hovercraft, I could see the humans that were left behind. Miranda, Parker, James and the other members of Renee's exploration team stood still.
Their eyes were on the moving hovercraft.
Killian didn't have to tilt my head to guide me this time. I fell into his embrace myself.
"You don't look like you are in a very good mood." Killian began.
"I am just there emotionally." I responded.
"Do you want to talk about what made you upset? Did those human representatives say anything that annoyed you? If you are willing, you can tell me about the discussion the four of you had." Killian said.
I opened my mouth and repeated everything Miranda, James, Parker and I discussed.
"They are just behaving like leeches. I don't know why they forgot that nobody owes anyone anything." I said with a grumble.
Although I had always suspected that humans were greedy, it was still disheartening to see it happen
Killian patted my upper arm, "Don't let them rile your emotions. Remember what I told you earlier. Everything is up to you."
I hugged him tighter, "I remember."
"Good." Killian tightened his hold too.
Although humans can be stupid sometimes, many humans were innocent too. I don't want to punish the innocent humans with the ones I was angry with.
This thought process was why I didn't leave angrily when Miranda was spouting rubbish.
Aside all this, I didn't want to see the remnants of my race continuing to float in space aimlessly.
Renee’s concerned eyes fell on Killian and I. I just let her watch.
I wasn't in the mood to explain anything to her. I just wanted to stay in my man's arms.
The two of us remained in each other's embrace till we got back to the palace.
