Chapter 143

I won't lie, I was getting tired of the bad news that had been coming my way these past few hours.
I just hope this new person is bringing good news. Although from the look of things, the message he was bringing wasn't going to be a good one, it didn't hurt to hope.
Killian looked at the new arrival with a stern gaze, “What is going on? Why did you barge into the library like the hounds of hell is chasing you?”
The new arrival was wearing the uniform that most of the guards I saw wore. It made his identity obvious right away.
“Your majesty, there is trouble!” The guard said.
Heavy pants left his lips. After a few minutes, he calmed down.
An exasperated sigh left Killian's lips, “I know something must be wrong for you to come in like you did. You don't have to tell me that there is trouble. Tell me what is wrong exactly.”
“Okay, your majesty.” The guard nodded, “A while ago, numerous spectrals and ghost appeared in the capital city.”
“What?” Killian’s brows furrowed.
My mouth dropped in shock too.
A premonition for where this conversation would lead to settled in my heart.
I was hearing reports about ghost after Tyler appeared. Things were really fishy. If anyone told me that there was no connection between Tyler's presence and the appearance of this ghosts, I would never believe it.
The guard continued, “We don't know if it affects every area on this planet but reports have come from other places. Some of these otherworldly beings are familiar dead people while some have no proven identity. These ghosts have been wrecking havoc and committing crimes since they appeared. These ghosts pretended for a little while before showing their true faces.”
Killian’s face became colder, “I have to see things by myself.”
“That is not a problem, your majesty I will take you to one of the affected areas as soon as you are ready.” The guard bowed.
“What have the military and the imperial guards done to contain this problem?” Killian asked.
The guard paused, “I am so sorry for our incompetence, my King. We really tried our best but the amount of dead people and spectrals is too much. Some of them have great resistance to superpowers too. All in all, they are hard to deal with.”
“Let's go to the affected area you were talking about.” Killian said.
I perked up, “I want to go too.”
Killian shook his head, “No. That would not be possible. Heartbeat, I don't want you to hurt yourself. I don't want anything to happen to you. From the words of this guard, the place we are heading to would be extremely dangerous.”
I locked eyes with Killian, “I know where you are going is dangerous. That is one of the reasons why I have to go. Killian, I love how you are protecting me but you are forgetting that too much of everything is bad. If I continue to remain in the utopia you weaved for me, I wouldn't be able to hold up if something really happened. Even without all these points, I want to protect you too.”
Killian stared at me with warm eyes, “Heartbeat.”
“You are forgetting that this problem might have originated from me. I must go with you.” I finished.
“Alright.” Killian said before turning to the guard they are delivered the unpleasant news, “Take us to the affected area.”
The guard nodded before walking out of the library briskly.
Killian and I followed with neutral faces.
