Chapter 233

Wednesday, June 20th
(Jamison’s POV)

It’s been three and a half weeks since the majority of the prospects that were left in the run got into a brawl over a female in heat. Due to three dozen prospects getting involved in the brawl after the young female was raped multiple times alpha ended up calling the council for some help. They arrived on the first and stayed in the guest rooms for two weeks. They just left this past Friday.
I was shocked to learn that Alpha Black moved Cole in with Dr. Pierce. Even though she never found her mate or had children, she lives in a three bedroom house.
I found out later that Jessa often spends evenings with Dr. Pierce so neither of them are dining alone for dinner. While alpha never admitted his motive, I believe this was the best thing he could have done for Cole considering what happens after the council leaves our home pack.
Alpha had several meetings with all of the prospects that were here. The first one was the day after it happened. He explained what had happened along with what was going to happen over the next few weeks.
The biggest shock was him canceling the run. He placed everyone on house arrest. He explained that while not everyone would be charged with an offense, the fact that there were fifty wolves left in the run and three dozen were involved in the brawl he needed time to sort through individual involvement. The four who were directly involved in raping Willow and the two that clubbed Cole with a tree branch were being held in his prison until the council concluded their investigation.
Alpha wouldn’t tell us much about Willow. All we were told was that she was twenty years old and being treated at Crimson General to prevent pregnancy before returning to her pack.
He asked Micayla and I to stay back after everyone left before everyone got up to leave. Like children they all had to make jeering sounds or comments about how we were in trouble even though we were in my room during the brawl. Although I won’t lie, it did scare us both when he requested to follow us to our rooms.
Micayla’s was first as she was the only female besides Willow that was left. She broke down crying when he directed he to empty the dresser as he emptied her closet onto her bed. I was at a loss for helping her as I had no clue what was going on.
She went hysterical when he started placing her clothes into the suitcases that he pulled from the closet. She kept screaming no, that she couldn’t go home. As suddenly as she started screaming alpha grabbed her. She screamed she was sorry as she begged him not to punish her.
Somehow he managed to still her kicking legs as he held her in his lap. I knew she had it rough as she often spoke of trying to meet with the alpha about it but the story she told of how brutally she was punished for returning early left me speechless.
Even though I was there when he held Cole it was still shocking to witness the tenderness he treated her with, holding her like a pup until she was calm enough to understand why we were moving.
He apologized for not meeting with us sooner and verified that Patrick had indeed delivered our requests for a meeting. He had seen the obvious fear Micayla and I had when we broke the lock down to help Cole and the twins. Patrick had seen the signs that Micayla may be in need of some help and reported his concerns to him but with Cole’s case being life threatening he apologized again for her needs being missed.
Once everything was calm he explained that with him canceling the run he was closing the dorms. That everyone in the dorms would be leaving as soon as the council had all the information they needed.
Although he had called us out as needing to meet with him privately after the meeting, he didn’t want anyone to know that we were the only two staying. He felt that it was important to move us into a guest apartment on the third floor of the pack house before the council came. We were told that the dining hall would remain open for all meals until the council left. After that he encouraged us to use the banquet hall with the pack members. He explained that the banquet hall closes for the day after lunch Friday through Sunday so we would need to either cook our own dinner or we were welcome to join his family. It’s his way of ensuring that families spend that time together.
The second meeting happened the day the council came so he could explain what the council would be doing and what the expectations from the prospects were and the last one was Friday. Alpha gave everyone both a written and verbal run down of the schedule that’s happening today.
Everyone in the dorms were to report to breakfast by seven before returning to their rooms to clean everything out. He wanted nothing left in the rooms except anything new that was provided but not used. Every room was to be cleaned and personal belongings labeled with the tags provided before being brought downstairs to the dorm’s foyer. Everything was to be completed by noon at which time they could report for lunch as the omegas sorted and moved all the belongings to the buses. Everyone was instructed to be on the bus by 2pm.
Alpha requested that Micayla and I join him for lunch today. It was a pleasant surprise to see Cole, Jessa and Dr. Pierce there as well. Cole is a wreck right now. It seems that knowing he only has a month or so left is haunting him. While I’m not looking forward to leaving this place at least I know I won’t be forcibly grabbed by the back of my neck and led away like a criminal. That’s what happened both times he was on a run with me. It took me days to find him and help him to his room.
My phone rings an alert for the text message coming in. I pick it up and see that it’s from Alpha Black reminding me of my meeting with him. I know it’s time to start heading downstairs. I take several deep breaths, attempting to calm my nerves as I slide my phone into my pocket.
“Are you okay?”
Micayla asks as she runs her hand under my shirt, around to my back, embracing me into a hug. I wrap my arms around her, pulling her into me as she lays her head on my chest.
“Things don’t go well when I’ve broken commands involving Cole back home.” I sigh as I lay my head on top of hers.
“Maybe it’s about offering you a position in the pack like my meeting was.”
“You were offered sanctuary from the abuse.”
“Yes that’s true but I was also offered a position training the shifted female teens. Alpha said that having both male and female teenage shifters in the same group was causing a lot of injuries and he needs a female to head the training of that group. What’s the likelihood you would be punished when I’m not.”
“I’m not abused, Micayla. He is strict and unforgiving and I broke command to help Cole.”
I try to emphasize the difference between us despite my genuine fear of Alpha Black right now.
“I guess it’s best if I don't keep him waiting.”
I breathe the scent of my mate deeply as she lets go of her hold on me.
“He’s not a bad alpha, Jamie.”
I nod my head to Micayla’s comment but it feels like I just told her a lie. I make my way to the door of our temporary apartment and head out. Alpha Redmen has taught me well to never leave him waiting.
