Chapter 100
We got to the airport in barely any time due to the late hour, Daniel didn’t want to ask Dermot to give us a ride for that very reason, and he hadn’t been able to apologise for what had happened. Our ride to the hotel had been provided by Aine, who was a far more erratic driver than Dermot, I was grateful Daniel had called for a cab to take us to the airport, even if it had interrupted us. I hated that we were flying privately, despite the need, and the urgency of the situation. We had gone back and forth several times over whether a video call would be enough, but with the specific words Pinchas had used, we didn’t want to risk any more than we already had. The plane was bigger than I expected, and while I couldn’t deny it looked expensive and luxurious, it was also oddly sterile and characterless, everything was white and polished, and it reminded me of a hospital. The flight attendant, who introduced herself as Talia, showed us to the seating area and left us to choose where to sit while the rest of the cabin crew finished their checks, I found myself feeling more nervous about this flight than any I had previously had.
“What’s wrong?” Daniel asked, interrupting my thoughts.
“Nothing, it’s nothing,” I said as I picked a seat that was pretty much identical to the rest.
“I can feel something is wrong, please tell me?” He asked quietly.
“I don’t know, I feel guilty about flying privately, and nervous about being in a plane this small, and worried about what I can say in front of the crew, and a million other little things,” I said I shrugged, not sure myself what was making me feel uneasy.
“Well, I’m not sure about the rest of it, but you can say anything in front of the flight attendant, she used to be part of the pack, and her mate is the pilot, they met when his Alpha asked for help from my father and some of our warriors. She was Dad’s assistant at the time and came to the airport to make sure everything was ready for him to leave; they caught each other’s scent, and she ended up on the plane too. The Alpha still owes us, we helped his pack protect themselves from repeated rogue attacks.” Daniel explained, as he took the seat opposite me and held my hands, it calmed my rapid heartbeat. “I emailed him after Hyacinth said Eric was coming, in case I needed to get you away from him, I didn’t want to be waiting around for a commercial flight. It’s not something I’m used to either, but Alpha Beau, owns several private planes, he also made most of his money from oil, so he is one of the richest Alphas in the states. A good man to have owe you a favour or two, but it’s also what attracted the rogues to his lands.” I hadn’t thought much about the other Alphas or their packs, but now I had to wonder how many there were in America. I didn’t get a chance to ask, however, because the flight attendant came over at that moment and asked us to buckle our seatbelts and prepare for take-off. Forcing all the questions I had previously floating around my brain into a deep dark abyss that left only my worries for company. Once we were in the air, the exhaustion I had been fighting, overpowered me, it left me yawning and struggling to keep my eyes open.
“Would you like anything to eat or drink?” Talia asked, but I didn’t even have the energy to answer her.
“No, we will be heading straight to bed I think,” Daniel replied, as he chuckled at my sleepy form. “Is it at the back of the plane?” He asked, we also hadn’t had chance for a tour, so neither of us was sure of exactly where anything was.
“Yes, I can show you if you’d like, there’s also an ensuite, and we have a fully functioning kitchen for whatever you might want,” Talia replied with a kind smile.
“Would you wake us, um, about an hour before we land?” Daniel asked, he sounded tired himself.
“Of course, anything else?” She asked.
“Coffee.” I managed to say, through my fatigue, I heard Daniel chuckle.
“If you wouldn’t mind, I agree with my Luna, waking us with coffee would be ideal if you could?” Daniel asked, I could hear the smile in his voice, my eyes were unable to stay open any longer.
I awoke, I had no idea how long later, in a large bed, my body enveloped in Daniel’s, his arms around me, and his hot breath on my shoulder.
“Are you awake Luna?” Talia asked her hand on my arm.
“Yes, I’m awake, why isn’t Daniel?” I asked, my brain still sluggish. “And call me Charlie, I’m not Luna yet, and not yours... I don’t think.” I yawned and gently removed Daniel’s arms from around me before I realised, I was naked. I squeaked in surprise and pulled the sheet up to cover myself.
“My apologies Lu- Charlie, I forgot you were human, or I would have covered you before I woke you,” Talia replied quickly, and a little afraid, but of what I wasn’t sure.
“It’s alright, I’m just playing catch up a second, trying to remember how I ended up without my clothes, I know I packed pyjamas in my bag,” I said mostly to myself.
“Your coffees will be ready momentarily, I tried waking the Alpha, but he didn’t respond,” Talia explained as I slowly woke up.
“Okay, I will be out once I find my clothes, thank you, Talia,” I replied with a sleepy smile, I turned to nudge Daniel awake. She left quickly and closed the door behind her, it gave me a chance to look around the room for the first time. It was warmer than the rest of the plane, decorated in creams and wood, with built-in draws on one side, a small vanity desk opposite the foot of the bed, and several circular windows. I slipped out of bed, I recalled Talia saying something about a bathroom and tiptoed over to the only other door, which was next to the vanity. After I had used the facilities, I went back to the bed to wake Daniel, who was still sound asleep. “Daniel? Daniel, we are going to be landing soon and I have no idea where my clothes are, so you need to wake up! Unless you want the entire cabin crew to see me naked?” I teased, as I shook him softly, he groaned a little and threw his arm over his eyes, it was adorable, I hadn’t seen him so reluctant to get up before. “Come on, Talia is making coffee, and I’m going to get mine, with or without clothes.” I threatened, my voice a little louder.
“Wait, what?” He asked, sleepily, he groaned again as he attempted to wake himself.
“I said, Talia is making coffee, and I’m pretty sure you took my clothes off last night, so if you don’t wake up, I’m just going to have to go out there naked, and who knows who will see me,” I replied, unable to suppress my smirk.
“Okay, I’m up, sort of, just give me a second.” He said as he rubbed his eyes.
“I could also really use my bag, with my toiletries in it?” I asked, I liked seeing him distracted and sexily dishevelled.
“Mmhmm, yeah I’ll get it now.” He sluggishly replied, as he finally sat up.
“Are you okay?” I asked him, getting concerned. “You’re normally up way before me.”
“Hmm, yeah, I’m fine, just a little tired. I didn’t fall asleep when you did, I was up sending emails and fighting my disappointment. You see I thought I was going to be spending some quality time with my mate, but she fell asleep on me instead.” He teased me with a smile, which made me blush.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you, I think the stress of the last few days got to me. Plus, we had a pretty good workout before we left Hyacinth’s.” I could feel my blush deepen at the memory.
“It’s alright, we have the rest of our lives together.” He said with a grin, his eyes lingered on my mark.
“Yes, we do.” I smiled but found it difficult to return his gaze when he was looking at me with so much lust and hunger in his eyes. “Time for coffee!” I exclaimed, as I jumped off the bed and began looking in the drawers for my clothes, which made him chuckle.
“Your bag is in the cupboard, by the door.” He smiled, he refused to take his eyes off me. “But, before you get dressed, could you pass me my bag? I have something for you.” I shot him a quizzical look.
“What did you do?” I asked, I opened the door and pulled both of our bags out. I handed him his, and placed mine on the bed, then opened it and pulled out my clothes.
“I may have brought a little something with me, in case this happened.” He said cryptically, as I threw on my sweats, I decided to wait to shower until I was at the pack house. I pulled my sweater over my head as he pulled out the ring box, and my stomach filled with butterflies. “I was hoping you would introduce me to your mother as your fiancé?” He asked, and my breath hitched.
“What about the pack?” I asked, I was afraid he would have to take it back if they banished me.
“I told you before, I rule with you or not at all.” He replied and pulled me towards him. “I’ve been waiting months to find you, and I’m willing to wait as long as it takes until you’re ready, but I was hoping, seeing as you’ve already chosen me as yours, you would say yes to marrying me too.” He said with an enormous smile. “Please say yes?” I was still terrified of what would happen if the elders disapproved, but as I looked at him, I couldn’t deny it, I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
“Yes, I will marry you.” I heard myself say.
