In The Beginning, Chapter 101
It hadn’t been difficult to work out from what Warren had told me. Lycan’s traditionally prefer colder climates, and while there were a few exceptions, like the packs in South America, when most of the packs in the states and Canada came from Europe, they moved north. Only one pack remained in Nevada, one in Arizona, and two in Florida. There were none in Utah, Mississippi, or Georgia, other areas we left for other reasons, like Rhode Island, or New York. There had only ever been one pack in Manhattan, every other pack moved west or north, everyone but the Lyalls, who had ruled the Upper classes of New York for the past hundred years. When I was a pup, my mother would sometimes tell me stories, of how the Lyalls would hold massive balls on their estate in the Hamptons for Luna’s Day. As I got older and heard more rumours about the Lyalls, I realised they had to hold events on the estate as it was the only place to shift. I had no idea how big the compound was, but it would have to be several acres to accommodate a run. What I didn’t understand was how the family that had held onto land and power like none other, could get involved with the Network. I had spoken with Hyacinth many times about the packs I had heard about, and their abuses, she had been horrified, like me, and had been contacting the Alliance incessantly ever since. And yet, opposite me was another of her grandchildren, who not only knew, but engaged with the wolves that had prompted us to act.
“Alpha Hensley, Alpha Jensen, and I have agreed not to trade with them, or aid them in any way until these charges are proven or less likely, disproven of course. That includes warning them of the vampire threat.” I explained.
“How do we know they weren’t influenced by vampires? And that is how these things started?” Alpha Bures asked, and I saw some of the other Alphas nodding in agreement.
“I don’t think we can lay every evil in the world at the Vampire King’s feet.” I replied with a bitter chuckle. “Although they may have been inspired by what they were witnessing from the human world, I doubt they knew the vampires were behind it.” I admitted, unable to take my eyes off of my cousin for long, now that I suspected him.
“I agree with you, we at Ponderosa pack will not trade with them, or offer aid if asked, without proof they did not commit these crimes.” Alpha Lang sighed through the phone.
“Black Walnut pack will not associate with hunters.” Alpha Johnson stated bluntly, sitting back.
“It is more than just hunting; they have a network we will have to dismantle.” I explained, and more than one Alpha blanched. “This is much more widespread than any of us thought possible.”
“Might I suggest we leave things here for today? We have given you a lot to think about. Please remember that until your men have been vetted, they cannot know anything about what has been said today.” Charlie said, her tone dancing the fine line between an order, and imploring them.
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Luna. I have much to think about, and look into, so I agree. When do you suggest meeting again?” Alpha Delgado of Chinquapin pack said respectfully.
“My assistant will contact you first thing tomorrow with an appointment time for the next day. You will be seen in order of when you reached out to me. Those of you that didn’t, will be seen after, in order of when you tried sneaking into this city without my knowledge.” I replied, and several of the Alphas squirmed, uncomfortable with my depiction of their actions, but unable to refute it. “I suggest you use the time between now and our next meeting to root out anyone in your pack that could be working with the vampires. And if any of you have any knowledge of the three packs I will be investigating, I would very much like to hear about it.” I added, looking at Lyall. “I want at least two men on each Alpha except Lyall, put a team on him.” I linked Alex immediately.
“Yes, Alpha.” He replied, and I felt my anxiety ease slightly.
“Thank you for listening to us.” Charlie smiled, trying to do damage control from my less than warm farewell, as she stood and took my arm; instantly slipping her fingers into mine. I saw her give Vogel a wary glance, before moving towards my office, leading me quickly away. I was getting hard watching the sway of her hips, as she strode confidently in front of me, wiping my mind of anything but bending her over my desk. Which is why I was a little stunned and embarrassed to catch Ms Michaels and Jensen in an intimate moment. I pulled Charlie against my chest quickly as they broke away, Ms Michaels turning her back on me in embarrassment, while Jensen once again looked unfazed, it reignited the fire of my bad mood.
“Your Alpha is leaving.” I growled, partly because his attitude annoyed me, partly because my cock was nestled between Charlie’s butt cheeks, and I could feel her arousal, and her struggle not to give in to it and perfume the office. My wolf didn’t care who scented her, he wanted to smell her sweet wetness, taste it before he buried himself in it and her until they were both satiated. Whereas I didn’t want anyone but me inhaling her heavenly aroma, leaving me fighting every instinct I had.
“Before you go.” Ms Michaels stopped him. “Could Ernie come to the pack tonight to have dinner with me?” She asked me. “If- if you want to that is.” She directed to him.
“Ernie? I thought your name was Jensen?” I asked, while he looked at Ms Michaels like a kid at candy store. Then at me with a look I couldn’t discern.
“Jensen is my last name, and what everyone calls me.” He clarified, I raised my eyebrow, not good enough. “My first name is Earnest, my father followed my mother’s scent into her college’s drama class, where they were doing The Importance of Being Earnest, got mistaken for a volunteer and ended up helping the set crew because he was in the engineering programme.” He sighed.
“That’s so sweet!” Charlie cooed, and tried to move forward, my fingers dug into her soft skin as I pulled her back to me and she released a tiny gasp that felt like a jolt of electricity through my erection.
“That’s what I said.” Ms Michaels agreed.
“Fine, yes he has my permission, whatever just leave.” I growled, as I felt Charlie’s resolve slipping. “Please Charlie?” I begged through the link, honestly not knowing if I would lose control to my wolf and he would do what he wanted to her regardless of who was present, or if I would rip out Earnest’s throat just for inhaling her delectable scent. Both felt likely, as I started detecting her desire on her skin, it changed her scent slightly, and made my mouth water.
“My Alpha is calling me, I’ll call you later, just tell me where to go.” He smiled at Ms Michaels after exposing his neck to me and opening the door. They walked out together, the second the door clicked shut we were on each other. I wasn’t sure if I lifted her, or she jumped, but my hands were on her ass and my lips on hers as she sucked my tongue, and I walked her to my desk.
“The warriors!” She whimpered as I spun her around and pulled her skirt higher up her thighs, until I reached her panties, the satiny material of her stocking clips brushed my knuckles and I groaned.
“They won’t hear unless you scream.” I reminded her, while my office was soundproof by human standards, by Lycan ones, only the elite could hear most of what happened through the advanced insulation. But even an Iota should be able to detect a scream from the other side of the door. “So, you will have to be very quiet.” I teased as I pulled her panties down her thighs. She groaned softly, she hated being quiet, despite how intense it made her orgasm. She whimpered as I pulled her skirt higher, and ran my hand over her ass cheeks, before sliding them into her honeypot, my other hand pushed her down until she was flat on the desk, her fingers gripping the edge. My hands moved to her hips as I stretched her walls to accommodate my throbbing cock.
“Daniel!” She sighed when I was fully sheathed inside her, she moaned my name again as our hips collided, letting me know I’d found the pace she wanted. “Don’t stop!” She begged, and I felt the urge to rip her clothes apart, to feel her soft skin against mine, taste her sweet and salty sweat on my tongue as I run it along her skin. “Take your shirt off.” She ordered as she peeled hers away from her skin, dropping it on the floor, her bra quickly following. I ran my nose up her spine, to the nape of her neck, then kissed along her shoulder, she quivered in response, her moans becoming almost painful sounding squeaks as she grew closer to her climax. “Daniel?” She begged, as her legs trembled, I covered her mouth with my hand a second before she screamed, muffling the sound. My release was triggered by hers, her pussy clenching me tightly, I bit her shoulder, extending her orgasm as she writhed beneath me. “Don’t break the skin!” She moaned through the link. I hadn’t felt my fangs descend, I tried to pull back, but her hand slid into my hair, gripping it and keeping me close. I licked the skin where I had left a small impression, but not broken, my hand left her mouth as I the guilt swallowed me. “Don’t.” She warned me aloud.
“Did I-?” I didn’t even get to finish.
“No.” She stated bluntly, pushing up off of the desk into my chest.
“Charlie?” I sighed, looking for the words to explain.
“No, I’m sick of this, I thought we were past you treating me like I’m going to shatter.” She snapped angrily, trying to shove me off of her. I moved my arm under her chest, pinning her against me.
“Don’t ask me not to worry about you, please? I don’t know how. You’re the most precious thing in the world to me, I don’t want to be the reason for a second of your pain.” I whispered against her shoulder, she slumped in my arms, the fight leaving her. I pulled her up, and sat in my chair, my arms kept her against me so she was sat in my lap.
“You know saying incredibly romantic things is only going to save you for so long.” She pouted, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
